August 21, 20177 yr Author 33. EVERYTHING TO ME- SHANE FILAN (36,500) PEAK POSITION: 14 WKS ON CHART: 3 YEAR: 2013 Widely tipped to be the next “Ronan Keating” (who wouldn’t want that accolade), Filan was aiming to be the most successful ex-Westlifer and this opening gambit came with co-writing credit by the man him himself and also Nick Atkinson the former lead singer of 00s rockers Rooster. BEAT OF MY DRUM- NICOLA ROBERTS (38,900) http://www.fashion-stylist.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/image/NicolaRoberst_BeatMyownDrum.jpg PEAK POSITION: 27 WKS ON CHART: 4 YEAR: 2011 Who would have believed back in 2009 that Nicola Roberts would have the second biggest solo career of any of its members? Perhaps having her track co-written by Diplo might have helped and certainly it didn’t do badly for an OA/OS release. n_BG3n1q5KU
August 21, 20177 yr Love love loved 'Cinderella's Eyes', Nicola's album. Best solo Girls Aloud record by a country mile for me. Still listen to it frequently - so much that's unique about it's production and the songs on it.
August 21, 20177 yr This Cinderellas eyes is a phenomenal album shame it sold so little weird because going by BOMD it sounds so different to the rest of the album not that its bad
August 21, 20177 yr Kimberley Walsh had her name on a top 10 single. Although I guess Nicola would have sold more albums as I don't think KW had one?!
August 21, 20177 yr Kimberley Walsh had her name on a top 10 single. Although I guess Nicola would have sold more albums as I don't think KW had one?! She did. Although it was a mostly covers album and had no hit singles. Peaked at #18 in the albums chart. The Nicola Roberts album peaked at #17. Tesco Nadine peaked at #47.
August 22, 20177 yr Author 31. UP ALL NIGHT- MATT WILLIS (39,000) PEAK POSITION: 7 WKS ON CHART: 4 YEAR: 2006 Probably the most interesting member of Busted, Willis coped with the breakup of the band by checking himself into rehab before launching his solo career. He co-wrote this with Jason Perry who was the frontman for indie group “A” who had a few hits themselves in the early 00s. WTVHr0qTvQ8
August 22, 20177 yr Author 30. GET STUPID- ASTON MERRYGOLD (41,400) PEAK POSITION: 28 WKS ON CHART: 2 YEAR: 2015 A look at the promo will tell Merrygold was a Jacko fan (he came second on Stars In Their Eyes in 2002) but he also thought trying to be the new Bruno Mars in 2015 when this was released was a good idea. The UK public obviously thought otherwise dismissing it after a fortnight. uIJDD1Cldgc

HIGHER THAN HEAVEN- KELLE BRYAN (48,500) http://www.vinyltap.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/364x/040ec09b1e35df139433887a97daa66f/i/m/image_171192.jpg PEAK POSITION: 14 WKS ON CHART: 4 YEAR: 1998 After bit parts in Eastenders and the Bill, Bryan was spotted in a Nightclub with Louise Nurding and boom Eternal was formed. She was (allegedly) fired by fax from the group in 1998 which gained the Bennett sisters a bad reputation and saw the Eternal brand lose commercial clout (the awful single “What’cha Gonna Do” didn’t help) and Bryan launched a very brief solo career. qT4YloQvrt0
August 22, 20177 yr I adore Higher Than Heaven, fab gospel/pop track which I have on CD single somewhere. It was resurrected a couple of years later on original Popstars Australia winners Bardot's debut album, and I liked their version even more!
August 22, 20177 yr Surprised Aston didn't do more. Thought the song and video were pretty decent. Don't think he got much radio support though sadly.
August 22, 20177 yr 34. BLOCK PARTY- LISA “LEFT EYE” LOPES (34,800) PEAK POSITION: 16 WKS ON CHART: 4 YEAR: 2001 Released just 7 months before her death in 2002, Lopes’ only UK solo single sampled Earth Wind & Fire’s “Drum Song”. It was a slight disappointment, chart wise, after the perfect start with a guest spot on Mel C’s “Never Be The Same Again”. kl-gEopCI4U Oh I liked this one! Although listening now ... it just sounds like noise :/ Edited August 22, 20177 yr by MoistSummerFruit

Brilliant album.
August 22, 20177 yr Loved and bought all these singles. I seem to remember Matt's single coming with a free beer mat when it was released. Awkward promo on the record company's part given he was in and out of rehab at the time! 'Get Stupid' was brilliant - it still is - but for some reason being in JLS was a millstone to grind Aston with rather than one to praise him with (they're still the better boyband than One Direction IMO. I said it, deal with it). And this attitude people had of 'Oh it's like Bruno Mars/he's copying him etc'. Bruno Mars didn't invent that style of music and GNNNARGH. Anyway. Rant over! Just a shame his album has been in 'Coming soon' hell for the last two years. Hopefully Strictly will change all that! I really liked Kelle, she was my favourite after Louise in Eternal. Nice gospel tinged number this was. Just a shame she had to more or less pull future releases after contracting lupus - which she still struggles with today. Edited August 22, 20177 yr by ThePensmith

Would he have released that music if Bruno Mars hadn't been on the scene???
August 22, 20177 yr We're getting into songs I remember now. Why did they dress Matt Willis up like a Nazi on the cover of his single though?
August 23, 20177 yr Author 28. KISS ME QUICK- NATHAN SYKES (49,200) PEAK POSITION: 14 WKS ON CHART: 3 YEAR: 2015 The only member (so far) from The Wanted to have any kind of success as popstar after the “hiatus” commenced. He was only 17 when fame called for Sykes and “All Time Low” made No 1, but at just 11 he came 3rd in the auditions for the UK entry to Junior Eurovision so he started early, now of course you hear about him all the time on that Vodaphone advert. 0tj4ye_3fAQ

YOU’RE MY ANGEL- MIKEY GRAHAM (53,100) http://chartarchive.org/artwork/43543-300.jpg PEAK POSITION: 13 WKS ON CHART: 5 YEAR: 2000 There aren’t many instances where former band mates go head to head with their debut solo releases but that’s just what happened in 2000 when Graham released this against Stephen Gately’s single, as that is yet to feature you’d guess that this made the least impression. Written about his daughter it’s a tender enough track if a little lacking in tune. kJTDuTwS338
