was thinking that the UK/world love for Spanish music seems to go in 15 year-cycles :)

in the late 80s (87-88) we had La Bamba, Madonna singing in Spanish (La Isla Bonita, Who's That Girl), Gloria Estefan

then in the early 00s we have the big worldwide explosion of Latin music with Shakira, Enrique, JLo, Ricky Martin...

and now it seems to be happening again :)

Little Mix will be #1 on iTunes shortly.

It's going to be a very exciting chart battle though! Could be the first time in years that we have two songs with spanish in the top ten.

you mean 3 or 4? We already have 2

Okay about Reggaeton Lento & Subeme, but I don't get why some people are Dragging Mi Gente into this as well. Yes it's foreign language, but it's a completely different genre and has become a hit in its own right without any of this 'bandwagon' business

 01. Little Mix

Which version of iTunes are you seeing this?

Could have 3 simultaneously in the top 10 with Despacito and Mi Gente as well as the Little Mix one - maybe 4 if Enrique can somehow stay top 10.
liveppbars just updated with L Mix at #1

Yep, #1 for me too.

Where will they debut on Spotify?!

In their second album, Little Mix was all 90s R&B. Then, in their third, they were generic europop. In their last album, there was big EDM influence. Like, they are literally always hopping on trends and changing styles because as top 40 acts, that is literally their whole point. Why is there a fuss they are doing it with this current single??

Oh, and by the way, CNCO is a Simon Cowell/SYCO act. So I don't think the remix is for LM to get a hit solely but to introduce CNCO to the UK market.

Yes, you don't have to convince me, I already know they're awful commercial pap puppets.

Wrong. No other language song broke into thr UK charts before Despacito. It is part and parcel of the bandwagon.

Despacito might be the reason it's broken through in the first place, but I do think Mi Gente deserves a bit more credit - it doesn't have an English language version to boost it like Despacito, SÚBEME LA RADIO or Reggaetón Lento, it's just taken off in its original form because they've given it enough of a push!

Shocked CNCO & Little Mix are ahead of Justin & BloodPop, I guess it's simply overkill on Justin's part at this point after three big features already this year?

Really happy for little mix and I'm hoping they will sing it on the UK tour I'm going!

Mi Gente isn't part of the same bandwagon per se as it would have been a huge and completely unconnected global hit (probably everywhere but the UK) without Despacito ever happening, but certainly UK radio and consumers have probably been more likely to support/consume it thanks to Despacito opening the floodgates.
