Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

"Britain’s Favourite 90s Songs" aired on Channel 5 on 7th January. It included pure sales figures (i.e. doesn't include streaming) for the Top 30 songs of the 90s, but I'm not sure what the cut off date is for the data:

16th Wannabe 1,404,899

29th 2 Become 1 1,146,367

On 19th September 2017 OCC revealed these sales:

Wannabe 1,385,211 (so it has increased by 19,688)

2 Become 1 1,137,775 (increase: 8,592)

The Wannabe 25 vinyl has probably helped it as doing 20k pure sales these days is a tough ask with downloads being dead. It did linger in the vinyl single chart for a long while and obviously got a bump when Spice 25 was released.

Yes! Here we go:

You're a star! :magic: :no1:

Will have to watch this on catch up. Was Vogue featured?

Sorry if it was poste before :

To date, Can't Get You Out Of My Head has UK chart sales totaling 1.53 million, including a massive 1.2 million pure sales (her chart "rival" Victoria? 93,000 chart sales), and 38 million streams. It spent four weeks at the top, and its parent album, Fever, also debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart while its lead single was at the top of the singles chart too - earning Kylie a rare chart double.

So, NSAIG sold 93,000 copies.

A recent-ish sales figure for Greatest Hits: 696,128 copies as of the chart dated Friday 31st December 2021.

It sold 808 copies in that week, but unfortunately it wasn't Top 200. The #200 sold 903 copies that week.

A week earlier, 24th Dec, Greatest Hits sold 858 copies. It was even further away from charting that week though, with the #200 selling 1,038 copies.

So as of 31st Dec, Greatest Hits was just 3,872 copies away from 700k. It won't have made it to that total quite yet. I think it might do it on 11th February.

The previously known total was 690,219 on 5th November 2021. It increased by 5,909 copies in 8 weeks, which is an average of 738 - 739 copies a week.

Going further back, we saw a figure of 660,715 on 1st January 2021. It means that in the 52 chart weeks of 2021, Greatest Hits sold 35,413. That's an average of 681 copies a week. If it continued at this pace, it would certify 3xPlatinum (900,000) in 2027 and achieve 1 million sales by 2030.

I do wish something would bolster their streaming sales, because this is obviously pretty slow progress. They're usually a couple of hundred copies adrift from being in the weekly Top 200 charts.

There will be some #1 albums that don't sell 35k in a year I'm sure so whilst I'd like it to be doing more I'm also happy. Fingers crossed it gets mire sales this year with a tour announcement.

Interesting titbit from Music Week last week:

Michael Buble’s Christmas made the biggest ever retreat from No.1 when it ended its annual visit to the Top 10 by collapsing 1-406 (468 sales), in the first week of 2021.

468 sales to be #406 at the beginning of 2021.

Spice Girls - Greatest Hits weekly average in 2021 was 681 copies. Perhaps that's enough for it to always be within the Top 300 albums?

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 3 weeks later...
Does anyone know what the total sales are for Mama/WDYTYA in the UK?

Last we heard of them:

Total Sales ('Mama'/'Who Do You Think You Are' as a Double A Side): 845,838 [source: BuzzJack] (13th November 2020)

Total Sales ('Mama' as a stand alone track): 114,634 [source: BuzzJack] (13th November 2020)

So in theory it is at 960,472 combined but the Official charts only says 845k for the double a-side...
