Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

Which is pretty good! Obviously their back catalogue has been given a boost since last years’ various promo and their name being around more

Would be amazing to get full updates again :teresa:

Amazing really to see Stop over 700k, it was always the odd looking hey day single when it was only silver. Wont be lonf before it is ahead of Viva Forever and other singles.
Yes !! it would take an update of the other singles on sales, viva forever should have exceeded 800k

Viva Forever crossed 800k in Aug 2021. It should be around 812k now I reckon

yes, I was referring that the last estimate was 798k so it exceeded 800k :) thanks for the count

Kind of surreal to see Stop with sales over 700k!

In the 90s its total sales were roughly 335,000. It took until 2016 to reach 400k! Now it has more than doubled its original sales total.

Stop has done 404k in pure sales which means 300k is streaming units which is amazing for them but it just goes to show how inflated some current sales totals are for some artists **cough** Ed Sheeran :D

Do you know where 404k pure sales was mentioned? I can't find that on the OCC twitter!

Here you go, Jay.

This was the article posted by the official OCC website last March :)

I'll try and redeem myself now :teresa:

The 66,000 increase for Stop was in 51 weeks, which makes its weekly average sales 1294. If it continued to sell that much every week, it would achieve these sales at particular moments:

760,000 - End of 2022

772,000 - March 2023 (The week of its 25th anniversary)

827,000 - End of 2023

894,000 - End of 2024

961,000 - End of 2025

1,000,000 - July 2026

1,029,000 - End of 2026

1,097,000 - End of 2027

1,110,000 - March 2028 (The week of its 30th anniversary)

1,165,000 - End of 2028

1,200,000 - July 2029 (2xPlatinum)

My current estimates for their other singles (rounded up or down to the nearest thousand):

2,147,000 - Wannabe

1,366,000 - 2 Become 1

1,146,000 - Spice Up Your Life (seems like this might have very recently gone ahead of Say You'll Be There!)

1,142,000 - Say You'll Be There

961,000 - Goodbye

884,000 - Mama/Who Do You Think You Are

813,000 - Viva Forever

748,000 - Too Much

(704,000 - Stop)

317,000 - Holler/Let Love Lead the Way

137,000 - Mama

62,000 - Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)

22,000 - Let Love Lead the Way

Stop could move ahead of Too Much in December 2022 - possibly in the week of Too Much's 25th anniversary! :o At which point they'll both be on roughly 755,000 (unfortunately Too Much is a slow seller).

At the end of the 1990s, Too Much had sold 655,000 and Stop had sold 335,000 - so Too Much had sold pretty much double the amount of Stop in the days of physicals only. Too Much sold 470,000 in its first two weeks on sale, while Stop took 23 years to reach 404,000 pure sales. It'll always seem a bit weird how "badly" Stop sold in comparison to their other singles, it's great that it has benefited so strongly from streaming, but it really deserved more than it got at the time of release.

It won't be long until Stop has sold more via streaming units alone, than Holler/LLLTW has sold overall with pure sales and streaming combined. Also funny to think that Stop sold more in the past year (66k) than Headlines has in almost 15 years (62k).

Amazing to see the song over 700k now it’s truly their second most loved song after wannabe now isn’t it!

I think it is and it was always the first 3 singles for so long.

Stop is just a really top quality pop song though just what Absolute do best

Very deserving.

Thanks Jay! I don't understand why Mama and Let love lead the way are counted separately I count them together, since they came out as double sides, so Mama / Who do you think you are exceeds one million ✌️

I guess because in the days of physicals the 2 songs would only ever count for one sale per cd wheres with streaming and downloads it’s a little unfair to count extra sales because they are downloaded separately.
