I mean if we are doing this it should be for Hot or VB then all the girls would have a certified album!

Both Hot and VB are certified due to shipments even if they fall short on actually selling 60k.

ETA: VB isn't certified apparently, my bad! Yeah, we should buy that to inspire Victoria to release her second album.

    Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

And Northern Star. It's closer than ever to 900,000 sales. :w00t:

WE COULD DO A Life In Mono rate and get everyone to listen to the album to vote!

Yeah as others have said Hot is certified for shipments as it NS so wont maje any difference if they pass 60k or 900k stays exactly the same.

LIM and VB being silver would just be nice to see.

It would be justice!!! Though I bet it wouldnt even register or be acknowleged by the record company at this stage...

Can confirm that Northern Star didn't re-enter the Top 200 (it was obvious in the midweeks that it wouldn't make it, but I've finally seen that particular Top 200 to be able to verify that). I wish we could have found out a new total, but alas!

It was #64 in the Welsh chart by the way!

I genuinely think that had it been wider release, it probably would have gone into the charts had it had a proper campaign behind it. It was too expensive and niche as a Record Store Day only release in my opinion... Had it been available for like £20 on HMV/Amazon, it would have attracted more sales...

But also, I dont think we can expect the solo releases to do well even in these contexts. Lets just be grateful that we got the releases at all :teresa:

Is it a new entry in the welsh chart?

Yes it’s showing as a new entry :cool:

Jay, would be nice to have the up-to-date data on their solo sales 🙏

It would but I don’t have any means of finding out! :(
Geri Halliwell Mi Chico Latino Parlophone Gold Single 06.05.2022 14.11.2004 :cheer:
  • Author

We found out that Mi Chico Latino had sold 393,491 on 8th May 2020, and it certified Gold (400,000+) on 6th May 2022, which is 104 weeks later.

The increase is a minimum of 6,509 in that time (bearing in mind that it probably wasn't exactly 400,000 sales on 6th May). The average sales per week is 63 (62.59 to be a bit more precise).

I think it goes without saying that it's highly unlikely that we'll ever see this single achieve Platinum status (600,000+). If it continued to sell that average a week, it would go Platinum in... 2083! :mellow:

~~~
Look at Me certified Gold back in 1999, at a time when certifications were based on shipments, not sales. As of 8th May 2020 its sales stood at 332,549, so in that sense it should only really be Silver. Between June 2017 and May 2020 its average sales per week were 44. If that continued, it would reach 400,000 in 2049 - which would be 50 years after its release.
Lift Me Up was only certified Silver at the time of its release, and with 351,815 sales as of May 2020 it has a long way to go to Gold. Average sales between June 2017 and May 2020 were 39 per week. At that rate it would go Gold in 2044.
It's Raining Men sold 449,000 by June 2017 and 477,185 sales on 8th May 2020, an average of 188 sales per week. If this stays the same it would pass 500,000 in September 2022 and go Platinum in 2032. This'll be her next certification for sure.
I’m interested to see which goes platinum first NBTSA, ITTY or IRM!? Also I’m guessing WYG is likely to hit 2x platinum probably before all of them?
Jay can do all the hard work (as he gets off on it) Wannabe has been charting on the vinyl singles and physical singles chart the last few weeks as the vinyl is on sale (massively currently £8.21) on Amazon.
If only it was with the original design like it shows up on Amazon, I would buy a few more copies for sure :P
Wow at it becoming rather cheap. I looked back on my orders of it (I bought two copies - one to keep sealed and one to unseal) and I spent £41.31 to get those two copies lol [£19.59 from HMV with a discount applied, and £21.72 from Amazon]. Sigh!
To be honest I always thought it was incredibly overpriced for a single, remembering that it was £27.99 in HMV! :drama: I suppose it can be argued that the fact they managed to sell a few hundred at that price made it worthwhile for the label, but I feel like they'd have sold so much more even if it had been like £19.99 maximum (still overpriced) and still made a very decent profit from it and maybe even re-entered the chart as a bonus.
Jul 19 2022, 11:54 AM original post:
#18 in the physical chart this week is Tom Grennan - Remind Me. It sold 25 copies (all CD).
#22: Adele - Easy on Me sold 18 copies (15 CDs, 3 Cassettes).
Therefore 'Wannabe 25' sold around 18 to 25 copies.
Thank you JAY!!
Wannabe25 clearly a huge success that would have sold even better had it been cheaper all this time. £27 for a 4-track vinyl (with awful design and quality of print) was quite a tricky release but they clearly paid off!!
