Thanks! Is this the first time it is back in the charts since 2021????

I'm not sure the last year it was in the Top 200.

Jay's chart run for it in the opening post has 85 weeks in the Top 200 when it charted in 2021, so it was in it one other week before this.

Fair. Do you know how much it sold to get to that position?

Would be amazing to have some updates on its sales

Thank you very much for sharing @Jerald !

Very nice to see it back in the Top 200… I wonder what’s caused it? I know it’s back at #99 in the physical chart but that’s probably not all that many sales. So maybe the streaming units have improved quite a bit? Maybe the extra Viva Forever attention & presumably an increase for their Christmas #1s is helping out nicely?

Greatest Hits reentered the Top 200 last year for 1 week, but I forgot to update the thread! I’ll try and find the post about it.

The #151 album this week sold 1,611 which makes me wonder what #178 might be. Maybe it’s 1,500ish or a bit less?

So curious to know what the total sales for Greatest Hits are now. All we know is that it’s still not 900k because it’s not gone 3xPlatinum yet!

I don't have the sales for it, but I would say probably around 1,400-1,500 units or so. Sorry I don't have the total numbers for it just the chart positions.

So probably around 1500 copies, which is not bad at all...

Yeah streaming numbers have picked up, which is nice. It is also part of the HMV vinyl sales push, so maybe those two things together with the 'Victoria effect' from a couple of weeks might be helping it.

87 weeks in the top 200 charts overall - excellent! latest sales estimates I think were 803,000.

where did you get these estimates?

Jay had an estimation on a previous page, not sure which one.

:teresa:

Estimations:

803,000 - Greatest Hits

1,497,000 - 2 Become 1

1,006,000 - Goodbye

1,002,000 - Mama/Who Do You Think You Are

908,000 - Stop

886,000 - Viva Forever

344,000 - Holler/Let Love Lead the Way

325,000 - What Took You So Long?

66,000 - Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)

There's every chance 2 Become 1 has already exceeded 1.5m. If it's true about Goodbye and M/WDYTYA, it would mean that the Spice Girls now have six singles on 1 million+ units! :cheer:

Other estimates:

2,670,000 - Wannabe

782,000 - Too Much

I think Spice Up Your Life has likely exceeded 1,300,000 and maybe Say You'll Be There is close to doing the same.

ah yes, here @Jerald this was early this year so hopefully a bit more now

It's a shame their record company don't invest in getting US certs, they would have loads of new certs!

I can see that happening next year for the 30th anniversary actually... apparently Spice is over 10million by now which is a Diamond certification, damn it!!

That would be 2nd best selling album by a girlband after TLC’s CrazySexyCool, right?

Well, we don't know if Destiny's Child The Writing's On The Wall has also gone diamond... Technically the last sales updates from all three albums put Spice on 3rd place. DC obviously stream better in America than Spice Girls due to Beyonce's on-going popularity and better streaming playlisting.

So I don't think it will overtake DC on that front, but both should really be certified diamond by now for sure. It sucks that Billboard doesn't certify them automatically like the UK Charts do.

  • 2 weeks later...

Can someone with a Wikipedia account update the pages for UK best selling singles? It is embarassing that the girls are not included when Wannabe, 2 Become 1 and Say You'll be There/Spice Up your Life should be included, at the very least...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_singles_in_the_United_Kingdom

Also, it annoys me that they are listed in the 'best selling albums' lists on Wikipedia with Spice at 23million and Spiceworld with 14million when we know they sold more than that... These are the same sales since like 1999...

Surely we can find reliable sources that put Spice at 30million and Spiceworld at least at 17million????

Thank you! wub I suppose the Beckham family drama news gave Spice Girls music that little extra boost for the GH to go Top 200. thinking

I'm still miffed that Holler is not considered a Spice classique and actually sold LESS than Out of Your Mind, I Turn To You and It's Raining Men did!

This is unforgivable in this fandom and everyone single one of you bitches should re-download it and stream it everyday as punishment!

pting

It’s shocking because I always thought the spice girls fans were buying their solo records so to see a big drop from Out Of Your Mind to Holler when it was released, it shocked me.

Yeah it is shocking. The main issue here was the relenteless promo that each girl did for their respective promo, whereas the group was facing huge backlash and barely promoted the song at all....
