The Greatest Hits will reach double platinum at some point next year.

Ideally, the tour will give huge interest and really sell the album easily past 600,000.

Greatest Hits had a good week this week! It climbs to #44 on sales of 5,851 (5,136 CDs, 588 streaming, 127 downloads). This takes its total sales to 560,442!

 

Hopefully this week coming can provide another 5k+ sales. Then it's a question of how quickly it'll be able to do the ~35k that'll be required to take it to Double Platinum. I really hope the £2.99 CD deal lasts into the New Year, because that has clearly been a huge help. Perhaps it'll be able to do 600k by the time of the concerts?

 

2018 has given a nice boost to the Greatest Hits not only in terms of sales (48,742 sold this year), but also to the weeks inside the chart. It's spent 14 weeks in the Top 200 this year, taking its total weeks to 45. Its time in the Top 100 has increased to 25 weeks, up from 17. It's now on 20 weeks inside the Top 75, up from 14.

I do wonder how much Spice / Spice World / Forever managed to sell after the announcement. I know probably like 20 copies each (if that) but would be nice to check. Also, they should TOTALLY put all their albums at super cheap prices online so they sell. No1 is going to buy them at normal prices when they have the Greatest Hits at 5.99...

 

Like the current iTunes promotion of 'cheap albums' could totally include Spice World and Forever for instance... ANYWAY lol I just noticed that I cant see how much it is selling for on iTunes as I've bought them already and it just says 'purchased' on the link rather than the price... grumble lol

£4.99 for Spice, £4.99 for Spiceworld and £3.99 for Forever!

 

In the Fri 16th November chart, Spice had sold 114 CDs, 217 downloads and 985 from streaming / Spiceworld 163 downloads and 635 from streaming. Sadly no physical sales for Spiceworld. It's a pity that the record label has effectively deleted Spiceworld - there's no new copies available on Amazon. The label only bothers keeping Spice in stock out of their studio albums, that's the only one available in HMV.

 

Hard to know how many downloads of their studio albums in ordinary weeks, wouldn't surprise me if it's less than 10 downloads a week at the moment.

Shame then that the albums are so cheap but no promo at all (like, no inclusion on cheap lists, etc) as they would certainly shift more copies. SPICE is really their alma matter but honestly people know about Spiceworld at least. A shame that doesnt get any attention whatsoever... I wonder - HOPE - they will do something with their albums around the tour. It's a bit embarrasing how they never give their releases any attention anymore...

The guy from Modest! was talking about how he hopes EMI will do something around the tour dates to celebrate, so that gives me a bit of hope something at least will be re-released, at the very least...

It would be a crime if they didn't release a Spice world vinyl. I can foresee another GH too this time with a 2nd disc of b-sides and rarities.

Yeah I can see it all happening too, as well as a GH vinyl.

 

BUT I would love it if they could:

 

- Re-release SPICE with unreleased tracks

- Re-release SPICEWORLD with unreleased tracks and on vinyl

- Re-release FOREVER with unreleased tracks and on vinyl

- Re-release GH with unreleased tracks and on vinyl

It's Northern Star's 20th anniversary this year, maybe Mel will do something about it? Nice that it was included in that throwback article. It is a shame cos it is a great album and deserves a bit more recognition.

A re release for the 20th anniversary would be great. It could be worth adding a bonus greatest hits CD to it as combined it could get noticed.
