The GH up to #29 in the UK UK midweeks, should finish top 25. Up to #3 on iTunes as well.

Could sneak into the top 20 depending on how close sales are considering the streaming should be decent enough.

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

Sadly I think its physicals will let it down this week. Hopefully it will be restocked in supermarkets again asap.

I was listening to Headlines today on Spotify and I was thinking...every time the GH is streamed and the Headlines track gets played on the album, does it go towards its stream count as a single?

I can't wait for Headlines to be certified Silver in 2056 :music:

In short: yes. Every stream for poor Headlines counts.

21 years ago today it was announced Geri had left the Spice Girls. The Official Charts has written a new article about girl group members that went solo. The only solo Spice related release with an update was Melanie C and Bryan Adams - When You’re Gone (830,000) sales combined

Quite amazing that it has sold around 80,000 units since 2017 actually. That is a lot!

YYAAYYY :w00t:  :funky: :cheer:

Do we know the sales yet? The Official Charts article just now doesnt mention them but would be good to have a new total.

Last weeks #26 sold 2.9k, so hopefully it'll be around there. It should have around 11k to go to 600k.

3070 copies this week, so the total should be 589,198 this week. Just a bit under 11k to go - hopefully it'll continue to rise next week and should for sure have sold 600k by the end of June. :)

Great progress! #24 is its highest position since the #18 after Olympics.

CD sales are letting it down a bit. 375 sales, compared to 925 downloads & 1770 streaming.

Wish it could go 2xPlatinum on 14th June and coincide with Wembley dates. Not sure if 5.5k per week for the next 2 weeks is a tall order or not. Will be interesting to see how it does this coming week.

Spice has reentered :cheer:! #122 with 1078 sales (60 physicals, 120 downloads, 898 streaming). Total = 2,975,928. Spiceworld isn’t Top 200, hopefully next week?

We also have a new Wannabe total - 1,716,466

How infuriating that both CD sales for the GH and Spice seem to be poor - it really does give off the impression that they're not well-stocked these days as I'd imagine with them being all over the media would encourage shoppers to pick up a copy. They really need to get it out there.

Agreed, it’s frustrating :( Spiceworld has really poor availability too. Can’t believe the label wouldn’t consider it worthwhile to reprint. I mean if there’s ever going to be a time to shift the back catalogue, it’s now. 😫 Very curious.

How Spiceworld is treated is really puzzling - they're almost acting as if it was some sort of huge disappointment and not the million+ seller it actually is. They're just really poor at milking their back catalogue in general to be honest. Why there's no expanded editions and such is beyond me...

The albums should be easily available on CD especially now that they are touring.

They are losing out on sales by having poor availability.

Agreed! It's quite puzzling that they didnt really capitalise on this reunion - specially given how many sold out gigs they have.

The only reason I can think of is that during the last reunion tour, their catalogue didnt really set the charts alight and even the Greatest Hits - which was new at the time - didnt really sell in the buckloads back then. So maybe the record company has been playing it safe and just allowing the GH to sell its remaining copies for now.

But even then, it has been selling steadily since the reunion, so you could see that if something new was to be released that it would sell well! Even that GH vinyl was originally just a limited edition (a bad one at that too), so you can tell the record company probably didnt have much hope they would sell a lot of albums.

I wish they would pick this up though, it is a big shame as they could have been releasing much more stuff!

Spice has reentered :cheer:! #122 with 1078 sales (60 physicals, 120 downloads, 898 streaming). Total = 2,975,928.

Spice had sold 2,963,975 copies as of 16th November 2018. Last week (24th May 2019) its total was 2,974,850. So it sold 10,875 copies in 27 weeks, prior to the tour beginning. On average that's just under 403 copies a week (402.7777777777778 lol~).

Regarding its sales of 1,078 this week, that was a 173.3% rise compared to the week before. I work that out as 395 copies sold the previous week (well, rounded up from 394.5). So it seems like Spice is quite consistent in selling around 400 copies per week.

(Obviously when I say copies, the majority of the sales are streaming so it's technically not "copies" haha).

24,072 sales to go until 3 million!

An annoying thing about Spice - it was originally estimated to have sold 3,120,000 copies by the end of 1999. Official Charts eventually downgraded most sales figures occurring in 1994-96. On 21st June 2009 it was said to have sold 2,928,826, having lost a big chunk of sales it was reported to have sold in November/December 1996 (for instance, it was initially reported to have sold 155,000 copies in its first week, this was later downgraded to 114,000 - 41,000 sales taken away.

In almost 10 years Spice has sold 47,102 copies - the majority of that being in the last 3 years, thanks to streaming (in July 2016 it was on a total of 2,940,000).

I look forward to it passing 3 million (for a second time :') ) because it's such an iconic album and it deserves that impressive sounding figure. If it's selling around 400 a week normally, that's almost 21,000 in a year. So with whatever sales boost it achieves in the next 2-3 weeks thanks to the concerts + with it settling back to its normal sales beyond that... it should pass 3 million in 2020? Not convinced it'll do it within 2019.

Emma's album sold somewhere between 365 and 370 physicals this week. It's less clear what its sales are with downloads attached, but it's lower than 398 sales.

Spiceworld either sold 126 or 127 downloads this week. The #200 official album (with physicals/downloads/streams) sold 788 copies. So we can deduce from this that Spiceworld managed less than 661 streaming sales (+ physicals if it managed any CD sales).

Annoyingly Spice was really close to Top 100 on streaming. #100 streamed album = 906 streaming sales. Spice did 898.

Amazing news and update Sales! Queens ^^
