  • We have a new update for Wannabe from the Official Charts Company, it's now on 2,740,000! Source: https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/spice-girls-reunion-world-tour/ Last update we had was 2,40

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

It's true! No Scrubs took just 90 weeks to improve from 4xPlatinum to 5xPlatinum. It seems like it might "sell" double what Wannabe does each week. I suppose it's all down to heavy playlisting to go

Some great chart action this week! Let's break it down x

(Emma has fallen out of the Sales & Physicals charts this week)

Greatest Hits

#16 (this is the album's highest chart position since 9th November 2007, in its fourth week of release, at #13)

4,032 sales this week

Total: 593,229 (6,771 sales to go until 600k i.e. 2xPlatinum)

611 CDs (it's a bit of a shame that the physicals are kind of letting them down a bit at the moment)

1,029 Downloads

2,392 Streaming (the album's biggest week on streaming so far!)

#8 - Download chart [down from #6]

#18 - Streaming chart [up from #26] - New Peak

#21 - Sales (Physicals + Downloads) chart [up from #28]

#46 - Physicals chart [up from #78]

Spice

#82 (its highest position since 18th October 1998, when it was #61)

1,375 sales this week

Total: 2,977,303 (22,697 sales to go until 3 million)

56 Physicals

118 Downloads

1,201 Streaming

#59 - Streaming chart [re-entry] - New Peak

#80 - Download chart [up from #87]

Spiceworld

#141 (its highest position since 25th April 1999, when it was #119)

968 sales this week

Total: 1,599,335 (665 sales to go until 1.6 million)

0 Physicals

116 Downloads

852 Streaming (#100 in the Streaming chart has 914 streaming sales)

#84 - Download chart [down from #78]

Spiceworld sold 729 sales the week before, the #200 album sold 788 - so it was only 59 copies behind.

Spiceworld sold 1,593,889 copies as of 16th November 2018. If we subtract the 968 copies it sold this week & the 729 it sold the previous week, that leaves a total of 1,597,638 sold as of 24th May (which was the opening night of the tour). 24th May 2019 is 27 weeks after 16th November 2018, and it sold 3,749 copies in that time. That means on average it sold 138 to 139 copies per week, the vast majority being from streams of course.

Wannabe

6,081 sales this week (mostly from streaming, of course)

Total: 1,722,548 (77,452 to go until 1.8m i.e. 3xPlatinum)

Christ, the Spiceworld physicals being 0 (!) copies. Forever not being stocked I can kind of get, but it's so lazy of them not to re-stock the Greatest Hits, Spice and Spiceworld.

Thanks for the info Jay. Spice World should pass 1.6m this week then, it is the 2nd best selling album by a girl group in the UK and has been out of print for ages 🤦‍♂️ That 0 for physical sales is painful.

The GH will go double platinum probably on the day of the last Wembley concert. One could dream of Adele going on stage to hand them a plaque with 700k tickets sold and a double plat plaque for the GH, that would be a moment.

Wannabe being the first ever song by a girl group to hit 3 times platinum probably in October will be amazing.

Spice will pass 3m early next year.

I really hope the vinyl adds to the GH total when it is released, want it to eventually make it past 1m.

Excellent info Jay, thank you!

That Spiceworld 0 cd sales figure does hurt lol It's a shame their albums don't get stocked properly as they clearly could sell better specially when they are now an active band with firm iconic status. Such a shame for 2 iconic albums - spice and spiceworld - which could continue to sell well with casual sales.

I used to see the GH well stocked in supermarkets and HMVs etc but not of late. Maybe the final copies are being sold at the moment but it is odd as hell the record company isnt taking advantage of this tour.

Can I ask a question? What is the difference between these two GH Vinyls? Strange that they are listed as separate editions. Maybe just a mistake?

One is labelled as a limited edition picture disk and the other one is as a vinyl record. Here's hoping this means the Picture Disk is the limited edition and the vinyl is the real vinyl lol but I doubt it...

I guess both listings are for the picture disc for some reason, strange though!

Greatest Hits midweek #28 today  Wasn't expecting a significant fall, but to be fair there's 9 new entries ahead of them. I think if they'd kept the vinyl release date as 31st May and those had contributed to last week's sales, it might have managed Top 10... oh well!

Just seen the midweeks.

How is it 28 lol

Hopefully it’ll pick up next week. Just a shame that Wembley is towards the end of the week. Who knows may go top 10 the following Friday after the 3 concerts

This week only has Edinburgh and Bristol till Wembley Thurs. Bristol is the smallest stadium too. There is 9 new entries above it as well. The big one will be Saturday all the celebs are attending Saturday.

It will probably finish top 25 this week and be double plat the week after.

The position should improve as the week progresses.

Top 25 should be achieved when we see the chart Friday.

I guess Headlines is their forgotten single now lol but what a bad release that was, so no surprises really

2,781 copies to go until 2x Platinum (600k)

I’m going to download the album this week. Fingers crossed it crosses the 600k mark.
