I may have mentioned this before - the editor of the OCC website is a Spice Girls fan. He has been a member of Spice Circle for years. Maybe one of the moderators could approach him and kindly ask for a full sales update? He definitely has access to all the data.

If you want to PM me who it is I am happy to reach out and ask, perhaps invite him to join this site.

  • We have a new update for Wannabe from the Official Charts Company, it's now on 2,740,000! Source: https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/spice-girls-reunion-world-tour/ Last update we had was 2,40

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

It's true! No Scrubs took just 90 weeks to improve from 4xPlatinum to 5xPlatinum. It seems like it might "sell" double what Wannabe does each week. I suppose it's all down to heavy playlisting to go

I can prostitute myself for info too #oh

While you do that, I volunteer myself to prostitute myself to a threesome with Biff and his partner and steal WOMAN demo (or just the whole tape) at night

I will join in, we can make it a foursome, and steal the demo tapes from 1997 that include Spiceworld-demos (as Biff mentioned existed!!)

;)

You’re quite a handsome fella, it might swing the decision, I’ll let whoever it is know!

Cute!! It really should be high up on their Spotify page

Mamma/WDYTYA re-enter this week on Physical chart at #80
Any ideas Jay how many copies that was? Was it just 1 copy, I'd have thought given the revival of CD, cassette and vinyl singles it might have been multiple copies.

I don’t know for sure unfortunately  I imagine it would be more than one though, possibly less than 10. Strikes me as being random that some copies would be sold somewhere as new, and be tracked by OCC!
Maybe some left overs on a random music shop? It can happen... it happened with Ride It did it not?

I think some of these sales come from Amazon through 3rd party sellers, if it is brand new stock and they are fullfilled by Amazon or the 3rd party is registered with the OCC.

Funny to think the 'physical' chart is what Mama/WDYTYA charted on originally, so it has added to that chart run.

I wish we could have a new full sales update  It's been 4 whole years since our last one and I don't really foresee how it'll happen again tbh

Also there's no way of knowing for sure unless OCC informed us... but I wouldn't be at all surprised if TLC - No Scrubs now has a higher UK sales total figure than Wannabe. It's interesting because Wannabe has higher streams on Spotify than No Scrubs (worldwide)... but if we were to see UK-only Spotify streams totals (which we can't, unfortunately) it seems that No Scrubs must have way more Spotify streams here than Wannabe. Like, I could imagine Wannabe having like 70% of No Scrubs' streams here. I'm not really sure why No Scrubs is so enduring here. I like the song a lot, but... yeah x

Not you making me think we had a sales update!! I guess the only way we will know now is when / if songs or albums pass cert marks. Surely songs like Stop and when you're gone are heading towards double platinum? Maybe ITTY eventually getting to double platinum??

I would LOVE an update! Maybe if they do release the documentary this year, Official Charts will do one?

I would love the Greatest Hits to be over 800,000 by now! It deserves it!

Estimates!

Please don't consider these to be accurate though. It's all based on older figures and then working out what these singles could be selling on a weekly basis on average. It can't take into account random boosts in popularity, for instance Spice Up Your Life when the Barbie film was new.

July 2024

2,587,200 - Wannabe

1,477,400 - 2 Become 1

1,281,000 - Spice Up Your Life

1,243,800 - Say You'll Be There

999,500 - Goodbye (!)

984,900 - Mama/Who Do You Think You Are

874,900 - Stop

874,200 - Viva Forever

777,200 - Too Much

339,300 - Holler/Let Love Lead the Way

65,500 - Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)

So Goodbye might be around 1,000,000 by now (how annoying that we're unlikely to get confirmation, unless they do an article for it in December). It seems that Stop might have recently overtaken Viva Forever.

None of these are close to new certification levels (200k/400k/600k/1.2m/1.8m/2.4m/3m) so unfortunately we won't be getting to know new totals via certifications for a while. I'd say the most likely next certification will be Wannabe going 5xPlatinum (3m sales), that should happen way before Holler gets to Gold (400k).

Funny to think that in the physical sales era, Wannabe was only around 100k ahead of 2 Become 1's total, now it could be 1.1m ahead.

You wouldn’t be the first to sleep around for spice girls material :kink:
