#1 this week! :cheer:

Melanie C’s new single, under-performing Spice Girls vinyl records & Spiceworld survivor... a winning combination

It's this forum's highest weekly post count since 21st April 2019, when we made 301 posts (enough to be #2 that week). That was the week My Happy Place charted. Curiously our post counts during the Spice World 2019 tour weren't overly impressive:

26/05/2019 - #01, 224 posts, 5.55% (the last occasion that this forum posted over 200 times a week)

02/06/2019 - #03, 135 posts, 3.43%

09/06/2019 - #04, 125 posts, 2.71%

16/06/2019 - #03, 155 posts, 2.94%

The longevity in the top 10

If only their Greatest Hits album could relate #sigh

It should be a million seller... you know like the Girls Aloud one...

Well no one brought their studio albums so they didn't already have the songs :teresa:

I think Girls Aloud in general had healthy album sales but there Greatest Hits was released at the right time.

They really didn't, there were plenty of artists at the time selling more albums getting dropped by labels. GA were just done on the cheap, cheap videos, cheap writers, plenty of covers.

Not that we should get into a Girls Aloud discussion in the Spice Girls forum, but honestly... all 5 of their studio albums are platinum certified (two of them are 2x Platinum). Their total studio album sales exceeded 2.6m.

All of their studio albums placed somewhere within the Top 200 best selling albums of their respective years of release (some even managed 2 separate years):

2003 - 71st best seller - Sound of the Underground

2004 - 44th best seller - What Will the Neighbours Say?

2005 - 74th best seller - Chemistry | 136th best seller - What Will the Neighbours Say?

2007 - 62nd best seller - Tangled Up

2008 - 8th best seller - Out of Control | 71st best seller - Tangled Up

2009 - 78th best seller - Out of Control

... I mean, clearly they sold albums!

I'd like to know some examples of artists who sold more albums in the same years as Girls Aloud but were dropped!
