  • Last sales update from 2 years ago for Wannabe in the US were 6.8million. Maybe about 7.5 million now! That's both physical and downloads/streaming sales.

  • First page updated with Welsh chart peaks.

Lol so 10 million is due to be in about 12 years?

Its a shame Spiceworlds streaming is so paltry compared to Spice (when it is the superior album too), if that had 900k streaming sales it would be 5x platinum too!
As far as I’m aware, unlike the UK, the US doesn’t reduce the impact of the biggest hits. So Wannabe’s success must do a lot of the heavy lifting for Spice’s streaming sales there, sadly Spiceworld can’t compete with that!
Thank you Spice Girls Net 😙✌️

Hmm, I checked TLC's album, 'CrazySexyCool', as it's been said to be best selling album by a girlband in the US. It's been certified 12 times platinum (diamond) but it actually has sold 8,970,000 copies. So 'Spice', has a decent shot to takeover the best selling album in the US then? Or that doesn't count?

Probably not because like Spice selling more over the years Crazy Sexy Cool will have done too.

Wonder why it got a 12 platinum certification though if it hasn't even sold 9 million?

I feel like we have had this conversation loads, those extra millions will come direct from the label when they used to do the 'book club' thing.

Also certifications back then used to be based on shipments, not sales. It seems very very high that an album would get an extra 3 certifications where the sales didnt get close to match up to that though but who knows...

CraxySexyCool was massive (in the US) though, thats for sure.

Diamond album finally? Obviously there will be no certification updates meh 😒

A pity that the label appears to have no interest in updating their US certs... being eligible for a Diamond certified album in the US is absolutely massive, certainly for a British artist! Shame.

Oh interesting, and that it is such a specific number too! The last update was 8million right?

I doubt that it sold 2million in the last couple of years in USA so this is a big jump that would be good to know more about

If there is any certification/update, then I bet the record lable will wait until we have any group activity - so problably never lol

The last estimate was 8,423,000 copies in the US, I don't know is it official if so would it be diamond?

The label has to pay for certification updates, they never paid when we knew it had risen to 8 million to get it 8x platinum. These sales may also include the cd club sales perhaps.

I know, its so annoying.

It going Diamond would certainly bring it a lot of attention, so it is a shame that this would not be announced any time soon...

If they go on tour or release that documentary, I can see it being added to the marketing promo that it is a diamond-selling album!
