The nominees were:

What were your favourites? What was unfairly snubbed? Who shouldn't have even been here in the first place?

Here are some of the other nominees from major awards from the same year:

Golden Globes

Julian Schnabel "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"

Tim Burton "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"

Joel and Ethan Coen "No Country for Old Men"

Ridley Scott "American Gangster"

Joe Wright "Atonement"

Paul Thomas Anderson "There Will Be Blood"

Paul Greengrass "The Bourne Ultimatum"

Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck "The Lives of Others (Das Leben der Anderen)"

1. Joel and Ethan Coen "No Country for Old Men"

2. Jason Reitman "Juno"

I've only seen these two from that year so I can't say for sure the Coens would be my winners but it was excellently directed so I'm not sure my opinion would change even if I had seen all five.

Joe Wright probably should have been nominated (for directing the single take Dunkirk scene alone to be honest). I'd have liked to see Tim Burton nominated too but Sweeney Todd definitely seems more suited to the Golden Globes rather than the Oscars :heehee:
