Oh I agree. In my view, it should be 4.99 or lower for sure. I think any lower might mean it wont count to the charts, but who cares.

Hopefully this year they will get another boost and when the record shops are open again, nostalgia factor will be SKY HIGH so they should invest in new stock for GH, Spice, Spiceworld and Forever really. Get the GH on supermarkets and the other CDs on that 2 for £10 promo on HMV or at £5 each and you will see the sales tricking up and the records coming back to the charts every now and then.

Would be good to know roughly how much the vinyls sold too. I wonder if they did well at all in the long run?...

TBH I am very likely to go into HMV one day when it is back open and try and buy one copy of each CD and Vinyl I find in one go lol

Yes I would causally go into a HMV and buy spice or the GH again.

As for the anniversaries it would be great if they restocked Spice and not just 3/4 copies.

I really wish Spiceworld wasn’t out of print. I know there’s more of an incentive to buy the GH but casual listeners and newer fans will always gravitate towards any artist’s GH album.

However with the Olympics, reunions etc Spiceworld would have benefited from some trickle cd sales shame it’ll probably never reach 6x Platinum (I could rant about this all day) 😂

Spice Girls in the Welsh singles chart on 15th January... #59 - 2 Become 1 / #61 - Goodbye

Random! It seems that the Welsh chart is mostly based on physical sales by the way.

As much as I love the albums I just can't see cds selling of them bar the GH. That should be stocked where ever it can for £5.

What they need to do is a limited run of cassettes of each album and do a new deluxe version of the GH with extras.

Unless the 3 studio albums get re-released with extras I don't see the point in them being in print on cd anymore.

A proper new remix album with new mixes as a 2nd disc for an expanded GH would be very welcome though.

I really bloody hope if we get a new release of the GH this year it should be a whole new anthology, get the casuals, the hardcore fans AND the so and so fans to buy it allover again. If they simply do a delux, many casuals or fans wont touch it as there is little incentive.

But I think having Spiceworld at least in stock around HMV at least and on their website would do the album wonders (or at least a few thousands copies each year)

This is the big problem. Universal make money from the girls catalogue with no effort why spend money on the girls music when there is nothing from the girls end to justify that investment.

Exactly! I'm sure UMG would love to milk the fans if the girls allowed them to. There's plenty of ways UMG could expand their discography. Let's be honest here. The girls will probably never be seen as a credible music group with only 3 albums and one GH. Not to mention one of those albums the girls themselves disown. The girls have a huge opportunity to gain new fans by expanding their discography through compilation albums and anniversary editions.

The things they really need to let Universal release -

A remix album, full of new remixes

A b-sides and rarities album with unreleased tracks

A Christmas album

All 3 would be such easy sells, expand their discography without being a full on brand new studio album so less pressure.

Add a soundtrack with a few new songs in a few years too. They would go from 40ish songs to nearly double. Their streaming would increase so much with new releases.

Love this post. Imagine the possibilities

Rarities album

Remix album

Ballad compilation album

Christmas album or EP

Spice deluxe edition

Spiceworld deluxe edition

Forever deluxe edition

These releases would garner them more fans. It would also spotlight some of their incredible singles and album tracks which deserve more attention. The group is so much more than just Wannabe.

Over the past week, I have been revisiting Madonna's discography from beginning till now and I was thinking how brilliant it would be to have albums like the ones mentioned here with their music. Yes their catalogue is small, but it can be worked on and re-introduced in so many different ways.

Madonna did brilliantly with albums like Immaculate Collection, Something To Remember, that remix album... All great bodies of work and focused releases. They could do something similar easily.

No wonder their music doesnt get the appreciation it deserves. It always bothered me that they used to milk us all so much back in their first 4 years and now we get nothing lol

Now down to 103 on iTunes but good to see it there still

When an older artist has released a new album or has had a birthday recently the OCC has published full singles sales and most streamed songs in the UK for said particular artists.

Fingers crossed we get that in July for Wannabe’s anniversary

It would be quite iconic if we can get Wannabe over 2million sales this year

We might be able to and edge it ever closer to that 4Platinum certification (which can be reached if they continue touring in 2022 and doing more promo and activities as a band between that and the film!

Lets hope :cheer:

It does between 10-11k units per month (on average in the UK) so if that continues they’ll reach 2 million units with ‘Wannabe’ in May/June 2021

I'd love us as a fan base to get their YouTube channel over the 1 billion views mark by Wannabe's anniversary. It is at 913m right now and will be close by July the 8th but definitely would need the fan base giving some extra views each week to get to 1B by then.

If only the fans could be in charge of what we get and not them/their management. Those albums would be great and they wouldn't even need to record too much new material. If only.

Excellent! Right on track for the anniversary :cheer: :w00t: Hopefully it gets a big boost this year from June to Nov with celebrations of both its own anniversary and the groups' own album.

I JUST REMEMBERED about that Channel 4 documentary series too :w00t: That should help a bit with streaming/sales! The group would be wise to use social media to promote their music through out the series' broadcasting dates (maybe we should put pressure on them for this?)

Their catalogue will get a huge boosts come the summer that is why 'new' material in whatever form (unreleased songs, remixes, step to me) being added to streaming is a must to ride that wave.

The documentary won't involve the girls they are listed as appearing in it but only as archive footage. Still ABBA and loads of other artist have these documentaries all the time and they always give their sales a nice boost. Hopefully it will coincide with the girls plans send help push their sales even more.

I definitely think we as fans should come up with our own initiatives (i.e. streaming parties, downloading parties etc to celebrate)

It would be a shame, that after their 2007 and 2012 documentaries, if we didn't get any interviews for their 25th anniversary.

Yes to some kind of new release because naturally that would help to boost their back catalogue and give fans something new to stream to coincide with such a big anniversary.
