Woohoo so weird seeing a spice girls song top 10 on itunes. I know it doesn't mean much now but Mama is already a smash hit so everything it gets now is a bonus.

Last total update for Mama was 114,634 copies sold in November as an individual track. Would be nice for it to go Silver on its own eventually.

The UK sales chart thread answers a lot of questions:

I assume all sales for Who Do You Think You Are goes towards the double A-side despite Mama being listed first. Doubtful that we'll ever get pure sales total as that's probably a bit too nerdy for anyone to bother to find out :lol:

Seems like it adds maybe ~20k per year at this point to Mama as a standalone track, so we should get to 200k (Silver) around 2025 maybe?

It will take a while but the combined single should get to a million.

Apparently it was decided by whichever sells the most is the one that contributes to a double a-side, so Who do you think you are must sell more than Mama despite Mama having Mother’s Day to boost it every year. I guess WDYTYAhas the Brits and Comic relief to give it a small boost each time (and is a much superior song).

Official video and lyric videos count towards streaming sales so the lyric video and us merely watching it has added sales today to Mama.

 

Just got my bf to download the GH version of Mama, he made me transfer him 99p though the petty bitch (love him really) so chalk up another sale.

It's twisted us all. I don't think it helps that for a few years in the 90's the girls were on EVERYTHING! And now we get virtually nothing, I've never got over it! :lol:

Hopefully they will release something physical for Wannabe's anniversary (a vinyl, CD or cassette or all 3) and it's successful and we get more.

 

It's no coincidence they went a bit mad releasing vinyls after the GH picture disc did so well. That was July 2019 and by November 2020 they had released 4 more (Spice white version, Spiceworld, Forever and black vinyl GH). Thats 4 vinyls in 16 months!

Yeah and they seem relatively happy with the results so far so please girls RINSE US (but please make a good effort when doing so ok huns?!) :wub:
