They are b sides for a reason lmao !!!

How many artists b sides do you make the effort to listen too ?

NONE !!

You do know that streaming works differently than CDs right? Like, streaming includes playlists AND algorhythms that tell you exactly what to hear, meaning that the record companies and the artists can make sure you will have the music they want you to listen to right in front of your face. Like, that is not even a question lol

If they release a Christmas EP on streaming platforms and the record company works with (pays) Spotify and Apple to playlist them, then people will listen to them. It's how Kylie's Santa Baby, itself a b-side, got so popular.

It's pretty easy for any artist to make a song popular in terms of in line with their own standards. All artists have a 'this is' Spotify playlist, sticking a song at the top of that, or artists pick on their Spotify. Heck I'm also sure labels can determine which songs get played most if you have an artist on shuffle.

Streaming works differently to CD’s ? 🤣

Kylie had a massive xmas campaign. Sleigh Ride and Christmas Wrapping were recorded in 30 mins to add something to the CD single.

No one but spice fans are interested in spice b sides or even the 3rd album !!!

Your middle sentence isnt wrong, but I would suggest you look into how algorythms work before making such statements lol If their team would want to, those b-sides would pick up many more streams because they would literally be forced on people's faces...

Anyway, what a stupid 'debate'. If the girls released a Christmas re-packaging of the GH, of course those two songs would pick up streams and sales lol

You are talking about a band with 9 number 1 hits which include 3 million sellers!!

The b sides are all available on ITunes as it is !! Fans can make their playlists.

This is completely besides the point that Sammy and Mr X are making though. Yes of course they can, and that's wonderful, but it's true that streaming would allow the girls to push their Christmas songs in people's faces and boost their streaming for those songs. And in actual fact it would benefit the girls hugely if they could get more attention on those two songs and have a Christmas hit or two each year.

I've always said one of the biggest mistakes the girls made was not releasing a proper Christmas song when they were at their peak, even as a double a-side with one of the Christmas #1s or a stand alone single in 1999.

My comparison to Emma was her monthly Spotify listeners has gone from 190k to 235k, which is obviously nothing in the grand scheme of things but on Emma's level the Christmas songs have obviously done some good.

The Spice Girls 2 Christmas songs could and should be making a similar impact for the Spice Girls but in reality 2 become 1 has probably done more for them this Christmas and only because of the extra airplay exposure at this time of year.

If Universal could be bothered to negotiate with streaming sites to put the two Christmas B Sides on certain playlists, they would pick up soooo many passive plays & hugely increase their monthly listeners figure (which would possibly get more people onto their artist page to hear other Spice Girls songs).

I still wish 2 Become 1 would be fully embraced as a “seasonal” song & be included on more playlists. East 17 - Stay Another Day & particularly Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah are not Christmas songs, but they’re included.

Kylie - Santa Baby is actually a perfect example. It started its life as a B Side on Please Stay in 2000. It actually picked up in popularity during the download era - it first entered the UK Top 100 chart in 2007. It must have been included in an iTunes Christmas page to attract many downloads. It occasionally re-entered in future Christmases & has gone from strength to strength in the streaming era. Its inclusion on 2015’s ‘Kylie Christmas’ helps to an extent, but really the strongest reason it does so well is because it’s on all the right playlists. Kylie’s Spotify monthly listeners increased hugely in December. She wasn’t in the Top 500 artists until 25th November (that was probably less than 9 million listeners), on 25th Dec she was #126 and over 22m listeners.

Lmao at people whingeing and moaning about how 2 spice duds can help with their streaming numbers.

Yes its possible to manipulate some extra streams but this number will always be totally insignificant !!

They had three xmas number 1 hits !! The most streamed girl band song ever!! They are not concerned that these two xma songs have low streams !!

Wake up !!

Indeed x

I've heard Christmas Wrapping a lot more on the radio this year so a bit of a shame the streaming didn't pick up.

My thoughts exactly. It's a discussion, suggestions... I mean there is so much to discuss about the girls otherwise.

Just an FYI I'm pretty sure 5th Harmony are the most streamed girl group ever. Which in itself is a reason for the girls and their management to pull their finger out and improve their numbers. As Jay has proven Santa Baby does more for Kylie than the rest of her back catalogue and a new album does combined.

Well the girls cant compete with the girls that came up in the streaming era. Obviously they were released in the 90’s so i didnt think the obvious needed pointing out. For a 90’s hit Wannabe is the most streamed.....

You all getting upset about this is quite funny. Im not going to go round in circles . There is no money to be made from streaming especially for two b sides that are easily available.
