I have a liking for Queens but the performance enhanced its tackiness too much, so it was a two horse race from the get-go.

Omg well done Finland! This song is the reason I put money on Finland to win at 10/1 the other week!

 

They really need to sort the staging out coz the song is winning potential.

I think the problem probably stems from Brian Friedman being exposed to Eurovision from a UK perspective and so all three of the stagings in UMK were very gimmick-laden "What British people think Eurovision is all about" staging and, well, we all know where that's got the UK the past 20 years.

 

What makes it more annoying is that the video exists so it's not that they've got no idea what kind of visuals work well with this song. If they can somehow just recreate the video on stage then, and only then, will I be confident that this will get what it deserves to get.

I heard YLE wanted Queens so maybe they tried to sink Monster with kinda crap staging? :lol: But it's such a f***ing SONG that ofc it wasn't enough, although I admit I was worried. Now it's been chosen they'll probably amp it up and run with it.

She had a post-show press conference and she was asked about changes to staging. From her reply, it sounds like they’re gonna review it for defo because frankly it bloody needs it - the song is absolute dynamite!

YES. I've always imagined EV staging to be something along those lines with Saara wearing the exact same dress and stuff

Honestly, watching that performance, I don't even think it'd be a huge success let alone a winner and I dare say we're overpredicting it because the studio version is strong and we love Saara. I don't even think it's just the staging, perhaps it's the sound of the studio, I don't know but... it doesn't sound quite as much of a massive pop song there, maybe it doesn't translate amazingly live?

I don't love Saara, I just think it's a "Euphoria"-esque banger and it's rare we get something like this at Eurovision.

Just watched this live. What the hell are you all going on about? She NAILED her vocal. She nailed everything she needed to do with that performance. It's what's going on around her that's the issue. But even still, that blew anything else from this year out the water so far.

The staging just needs that something extra to make the live performance pop as much as the studio, and Saara will ofc bring it whatever.

Haha forgive me, I'm jetlagged and drunk in Australia and it's 2:05am and I'm wide awake in bed whilst my Australian friend is fast asleep :lol:

 

But even still the reaction to the staging that it will stop her winning is dramatic af lol it's not *that* bad

I think it shows we were right Monsters is the riskier option, not really a HUGE risk (like in its current form it would still easily be like top 10) but I think Domino was a safe top 5 even with basic staging, whereas Monsters could walk this if staged correctly or be like 8th. The performance is a bit boring in its current form.

Only top 10? As if! :P Unless this does a "Rockefeller Street" this is in contention for the win.

After re-watching the performance it's not that bad, those flags are unnecessary though. Get rid of them!

I dont understand the complaints about the staging. The only thing I dont like is the flags as we can barely see her in the end, the rest is cool.

Maybe it's just me then :lol: I really just don't see the massive winner contender you're discussing in what I just watched, and I love Saara and think it's a very good song, but I wouldn't honestly be surprised if this did a Cascada. There's something about the mix live which doesn't allow it to pop off like it does in the studio version.

Id love to see her win and think she does have a chance but it really needs to be staged well.
