November 26, 20177 yr omg I'd never have guessed that as your number 1 album!!!1!!1! Well deserved tho, it'll be high up mine
November 26, 20177 yr Well Avicii's new material was far superior to Calvin's so a correct #1 here! Not sure what mine would be, the only artist album I actually bought this year was Gang Signs & Prayers so I guess on that basis Stormzy is mine.
November 27, 20177 yr Rouge One is a film I have to see soon *.* WD Avicii :cheer: I mean Lonely Together alone makes it number one.
November 27, 20177 yr Author omg I'd never have guessed that as your number 1 album!!!1!!1! Well deserved tho, it'll be high up mine :wub:As high as #1, maybe? :P Well Avicii's new material was far superior to Calvin's so a correct #1 here! Not sure what mine would be, the only artist album I actually bought this year was Gang Signs & Prayers so I guess on that basis Stormzy is mine.I listened to that album once, was quite good but only a few tracks were worth going back to. Glad you like Avicii's new stuff. Rouge One is a film I have to see soon *.* WD Avicii :cheer: I mean Lonely Together alone makes it number one.Yeah definitely it's brill. Avicii could have released an album with no music on it, and it would probably still be number one.
November 27, 20177 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2017 | #241-250 YouTube links provided # . Mabel ~ Finders Keepers (feat. Kojo Funds) Date entered: 06/10/17 Chart sales: 250,800 Chart run: 89-55-44-39-40-52-60-81-… [8 weeks (so far)] Starting off the biggest 250 songs of the year is the breakthrough single for Mabel and also the first appearance of Kojo Funds, and to date, the only. Finders Keepers is a sensual jam that I didn't think much of initially but slowly grew on me once it started to become a surprise UK hit where it eventually spent 5 weeks in the top 10. A good starting point for her I'd say, hopefully she can follow this up well. # . Terror Jr ~ Come First Date entered: 04/11/16 Chart sales: 251,300 Chart run: …-75-96-77-x-64-x-91-82-99-x [7 weeks (11 total)] With Felix Snow as the producer it's no wonder this sounds similar to Kiiara. This is quite a nice pop bop which was in the bottom half of the Spotify 200 for a while but then ultimately went nowhere and was eventually a BJSC entry. # . Zara Larsson ~ Lush Life Date entered: 11/12/15 Chart sales: 251,900 Chart run: …-x-35-89-x-72-80-90-x [5 weeks (38 total)] Following its top 10 finish in last year's chart it gets enough trickle sales to just make the EOY list again, with its #35 peak for this year coming from the release of debut album 'So Good'. Expect to see a few more songs from Zara here as I've been quite the fan, including big contenders from 'I Would Like' and 'Symphony'. #247. Irina Rimes ~ Visele (DJ Dark & MD.DJ Remix) Date entered: 21/07/17 Chart sales: 252,400 Chart run: 44-44-46-56-x-81-x [5 weeks] Another BJSC entry now, there'll be a fair few of these. One of my personal favourite discoveries from the contest of the year from a surprise Varakë comeback which reminded me of a Dobago entry (naturally, Dobbo liked this even more and will probably be fairly high in his list). I'm still not sure what language this is sung in but she's got a lovely voice and I love the Filatov & Karas esque eurodancey production courtesy of the remixers DJ Dark and MD.DJ. # . Laura Brehm ~ Don't Wait Date entered: 06/01/17 Chart sales: 252,600 Chart run: 43-37-38-38-45-47-93-x [7 weeks] Laura Brehm is a name you may recognise from her features in TheFatRat's 'Monody' and 'The Calling', and with her first solo release since she impressed with a rather chilled affair. Her vocal is brilliant and I would love to hear more from her. I think she's released a few more since but I haven't been good at keeping up to date with her. # . The Pogues ~ Fairytale Of New York (feat. Kirsty MacColl) Date entered: 29/11/10 Chart sales: 253,000 Chart run: …-x-16-28-6-4-x [4 weeks (27 total)] And indeed we will be seeing a few Christmas songs in the list just from the strength of their December sales, I think this is the first year they've made my top 250 as I charted them higher than usual. Despite that, The Pogues have actually peaked at #3 in my chart, back in 2013, but #4 is their highest position since. Nothing more I need to say about this song as you all know it as the ultimate Christmas classic. It is in fact the only song to have entered my chart in every year since the chart's conception in 2010, well except for this year so far but it will obviously make another return. # . Leona Lewis ~ One More Sleep Date entered: 16/12/13 Chart sales: 253,100 Chart run: …-x-25-23-2-3-x [4 weeks (11 total)] Here we go again, interestingly with every year passing Leona has re-peaked with 'One More Sleep'. Initially charting at #17 in 2013, it has climbed to #12, #9 and #2 in subsequent years. Could 2017 be the year it finally makes #1?? We'll have to wait and see, but so far this song has aged brilliantly and is up there with my ultimate seasonal faves now. G'won Leona. Prove the NEIGHsayers wrong (geddit). #243. Lushington ~ You Got Me Baby Date entered: 19/02/16 Chart sales: 254,400 Chart run: …-48-42-66-x-96-89-x [5 weeks (17 total)] This one started out last year's top 100 just beating The Weeknd 'Starboy' to it. Well this year 'Starboy' is still yet to come while this only just makes the top 250. A brilliant house banger that I keep revisiting quite often anyway, shame this never took off properly. # . Migos ~ T-Shirt Date entered: 05/05/17 Chart sales: 255,100 Chart run: 73-89-88-66-76-78-84-87-83-88-97-x-92-x [12 weeks] The first appearance in this chart for Quavo, who at his current rate of featuring will likely appear in every section of the EOY (not really). Migos know how to make a catchy tune and this one which was big in US but never took off here was another one of those for them. And no the song isn't about their favourite clothing items, it's about selling drugs (because of course it is). # . FM-84 ~ Running In The Night (feat. Ollie Wride) Date entered: 24/02/17 Chart sales: 255,200 Chart run: 41-44-38-44-72-91-82-84-x [8 weeks] This one I discovered in the search for a BJSC entry in the Masquerade spin-off where I had to make the tough choice of which Jadakissnian act to recycle. Well it wasn't really as this one immediately stood out and it eventually won by the scrape of its teeth. It's a great 80s inspired synth-pop track which I'd recommend if you're into the '80s remixes' of popular songs that seem to be floating around the internet a lot.
November 27, 20177 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2017 | #231-240 YouTube links provided # . Black Saint ~ Could You Love Me? Date entered: 24/02/17 Chart sales: 258,000 Chart run: 90-64-68-65-46-61-81-83-x [8 weeks] For a while this seemed like it was on the edge of getting big, but it never quite got there, which is no huge loss for the charts if I'm being honest. It's quite a standard generic house track but I love the genre so much even the weaker stuff makes it semi-big on my chart. Black Saint's other song 'Never Did This Before' likewise although that didn't quite make it into the top 250. # . Joe Goddard ~ Lose Your Love Date entered: 13/01/17 Chart sales: 258,000 Chart run: 80-78-69-73-74-79-91-89-x [8 weeks] Joe Goddard is someone you'd associate more with electronic than dance, and this is certainly very much that with lots of bleeps but this is quite dancey too and I like the vocal sample. # . Hurts ~ All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day Date entered: 22/12/14 Chart sales: 259,000 Chart run: …-x-15-7-1-1-x [4 weeks (9 total)] Last year's Christmas number one for the first time went to... an actual Christmas song! This isn't one of the ones that gets featured one every compilation and Spotify playlist so you may be unfamiliar, and if you are then I really recommend it. It perfectly captures the feeling of Christmas not as being this overly joyous celebration but just wanting the new year to start already. It could definitely be a contender for this year's number one too as it will no doubt get quite a few spins once December starts. # . Wankelmut ~ Almost Mine (feat. Charlotte OC) Date entered: 12/05/17 Chart sales: 259,100 Chart run: 49-51-58-51-51-54-61-92-x [8 weeks] Back to the house now and you may recognise the name here from his hit 'My Head Is A Jungle'. Well this isn't half as great but worth a listen or two, it sounds quite Robin Schulz. # . Ryan Blyth and After 6 ~ Show Me (feat. Malisha Bleau) Date entered: 20/01/17 Chart sales: 263,300 Chart run: 100-88-100-60-54-46-47-60-71-x [9 weeks] More house! Ryan Blyth & After 6 have made a few songs now but none of them have been outstanding, this was the best they got though and like Black Saint it became a minor hit in the dance charts. # . Hailee Steinfeld and Grey ~ Starving (feat. Zedd) Date entered: 26/08/16 Chart sales: 265,000 Chart run: …-29-37-57-93-70-77-76-85-85-x [9 weeks (23 total)] A leftover from last year, 'Starving' was surprisingly good for a Zedd production in 2016 and so far it still seems like a one-off seeing as 'Stay' and 'Get Low' were big letdowns. Hailee is yet to follow this up in my chart with both 'Most Girls' and 'Let Me Go' doing nothing, though I should probably give the latter another chance now that it's likely to become a hit. # . Calvin Harris ~ Holiday (feat. Snoop Dogg, John Legend and Takeoff) Date entered: 07/07/17 Chart sales: 268,300 Chart run: 20-23-35-39-43-53-91-x [7 weeks] Calvin Harris had such a good year that his whole album was in my top 40 upon its release. I like the chill vibes of this and other than Calvin the best contributor here is the rap icon that is Snoop Dogg. Calvin makes John Legend bearable too! # . Anton Powers and Pixie Lott ~ Baby Date entered: 07/04/17 Chart sales: 269,900 Chart run: 93-90-74-70-94-65-71-65-64-69-83-88-88-x [13 weeks] Pixie Lott in 2017, yes I'm still surprised she's still going but surprisingly this eventually became a minor dance hit. I could never fully get into it as it is a bit generic, though the strings give it a bit of flavour at least - but I always enjoy a UK house tune! And let's not forget Anton actually came to the forum to thank us for the support of this. *_* # . BUNT. ~ On My Way (feat. Leah Haywood) Date entered: 06/10/17 Chart sales: 270,300 Chart run: 25-25-27-31-41-46-54-56… [8 weeks (so far)] BUNT. were somewhat of a recent discovery for me but I quickly grew to love their brand of Avicii inspired folk house, with tunes like this I'm excited for what's to come for them in 2018. #231. Drake ~ Signs Date entered: 30/06/17 Chart sales: 271,200 Chart run: 22-28-35-54-57-74-85-x [7 weeks] Well this isn't really one of his best, mid tempo singing tunes are what he does best but this grew off me quick. But it's always good to get a surprise new Drake single. Hoping for another big dose of Drake next year too, shut up haters. :D
November 27, 20177 yr Author Signs was a huge US flop though wasn't it? It actually spent a while in the UK top 40, clearly we like him more.
November 27, 20177 yr Signs was a huge US flop though wasn't it? It actually spent a while in the UK top 40, clearly we like him more.I don’t think it even got a push, it was only for promo here :P
November 27, 20177 yr You are certainly spot on about Visele, that will indeed be very high in my countdown! I believe it's sang in Romanian? Could You Love Me was really good but I ended up preferring Never Did This Before, hell of a banger. And Baby so low :( I knew you weren't a massive fan of it tho, one of my highlights of the year!
November 27, 20177 yr Some bangers appearing already :music: My favourites being "Signs", "Lush Life" and "Starving". I know that the former was basically just a "Passionfruit" rip off but it's such a chill but catchy song and I think I even prefer it :o Migos have had some bops too this year but "T-Shirt" is probably my least favourite of theirs. Aside from "MotorSport" which HAS to be #1 for me now, my previous fave was "Slippery" :music:
November 28, 20177 yr Author Black Saint  looove that, will be MUCH higher up mineNot surprised, it seems like your kind of thing, I think it could be better though. I don’t think it even got a push, it was only for promo here :POh right, I don't think it even got properly pushed here either other than on Spotify playlists. You are certainly spot on about Visele, that will indeed be very high in my countdown! I believe it's sang in Romanian? Could You Love Me was really good but I ended up preferring Never Did This Before, hell of a banger. And Baby so low :( I knew you weren't a massive fan of it tho, one of my highlights of the year!Probably is I guess. They're both roughly on the same level for me but it turned out that CYLM got a better chart run. Yeah I imagine it'll be very high on your EOY list. Some bangers appearing already :music: My favourites being "Signs", "Lush Life" and "Starving". I know that the former was basically just a "Passionfruit" rip off but it's such a chill but catchy song and I think I even prefer it :o Migos have had some bops too this year but "T-Shirt" is probably my least favourite of theirs. Aside from "MotorSport" which HAS to be #1 for me now, my previous fave was "Slippery" :music:Nah Passionfruit does it much better for me, that will be yet to appear. Never properly listened to Slippery actually oops as it didn't get any sort of UK push. Really love MotorSport at the moment though, but due to its recentness it missed the cutoff for this year's list. 'Bad And Boujee' will appear later on of course anyway.
November 28, 20177 yr comments: H8CHART 10. I actually quite like this song 9. Haven't heard a lot of this song, but I did hear a version where the melody is done in Big Ben mode 8. I like this too 7. 'Tis okay, nothing really special 6. Not a huge fan of the album, but I do like Castle On The Hill, Eraser, What Do I Know and guilty pleasure Shape Of You 5. Haven't heard this, plus I don't really watch a lot of Love Island 4. Haven't heard this either 3. I actually like this one. Some solid production here 2. 'Eh. Ready For It is slightly better 1. I quite like this. Also I saw a Billboard Top 20 ranked video with Kumerai Fang and The Social Tune (or whatever he was called) and the latter managed to find a similarity in the chorus where the backing choir vocals were like the ones in Chance The Rapper's No Problem TV Series Of The Year: I love Rick And Morty, one of my favourite animated programs at the moment along with The Simpsons, Regular Show, Amazing World Of Gumball and Gravity Falls, among some others. My favourites from Series 3 have to be The Ricklantis Mixup, Rickshank Redemption, Rest And Ricklaxation and Pickle Rick. Also on the subject of the honourable mention, Big Bang Theory is also great. Need to watch Stranger Things sometime, looks awesome from what I've heard. Film Of The Year: Wasn't Rogue One 2016? Still a pretty excellent movie. My favourite movie of 2017 would have to be Baby Driver Album Of The Year: Even though the Avicii one is more of an EP than an album. It was still pretty good, not No Plan EP or Skin Companion II good, but still good. Lonely Together is one of my favourite songs currently trending right now, It has been my number one for five weeks. EOY 2017 (I'll only comment on the ones I've heard) Finders Keepers: Pretty good Lush Life: "I live my day as if it were the last" Fairytale Of New York: Good Christmas song with some marvellous call and response between Kirsty and Shane T-Shirt: Likin' this FM-84 I need to hear more of Lose Your Love: I swear I've heard this while listening to Electric Lines. Favourites from this album would have to be Home and Truth Is Light. Also the deluxe bonus track called Funk You Up. All I Want For Christmas Is NYD: I remember getting this as iTunes Single Of The Week December 2010 and even doing a Tap Studio of it. Starving: Eh Signs: Nice tropical house "Champagne for breakfast while I'm yawning" Great rundown so far
November 28, 20177 yr 'Baby' was a decent tune, never made my chart but maybe that was because by the tie I was into it it had been and gone (also HOW did I miss Anton coming onto the forum :P Must have been asleep or something)
November 28, 20177 yr Author Thermo's hot hits | EOY 2017 | #221-230 YouTube links provided # . Alma ~ Dye My Hair Date entered: 09/12/16 Chart sales: 271,200 Chart run: 89-37-63-78-48-50-54-67-87-95-x [10 weeks] It's been great to see Alma take off this year, though I'm glad it was with 'Chasing Highs' and not this. I'm also still not sure what I think of the titular lyric, I suppose it's a pun on the cliched 'I would die for you' but I wouldn't want Alma to change her unique hair colour. # . KDA ~ Just Say (feat. Tinashe) Date entered: 22/07/16 Chart sales: 271,300 Chart run: …-35-39-58-95-68-58-81-x [7 weeks (26 total)] What's going on with KDA then? This was in my top 100 last year and I was hoping for another this time but... he still hasn't followed up. :drama: # . Toddla T ~ Beast (feat. Andrea Martin and Stefflon Don) Date entered: 12/05/17 Chart sales: 272,000 Chart run: 84-38-36-48-62-73-86-x [7 weeks] This was actually brought to my attention from New Music Friday, though it peaked off the back of its BJSC appearance. It gave us another taste for Stefflon Don's rapping and she was someone I was starting to get excited about following 'Fashion Killa' and this, with 'Instruction' and 'Hurtin Me' yet to come. An interesting minimal electronic production from Toddla T too. # . Calvin Harris ~ Cash Out (feat. ScHoolboy Q, PARTYNEXTDOOR and D.R.A.M.) Date entered: 07/07/17 Chart sales: 273,400 Chart run: 24-31-39-40-44-54-x [6 weeks] Calvin appears again with 'Cash Out' which was the first previously unheard track on the album, it's a great start too with lots of funky vibes, this one really feels like it was inspired by 70s RnB. None of the rappers really excite me, which is probably why this ended up as one of the lowest Calvin tracks in the chart, but the whole album is great. This one has quite a few catchy hooks but at the same time it's not very singable. # . Franky Rizardo ~ Same Man Date entered: 10/02/17 Chart sales: 274,300 Chart run: 67-50-58-55-69-53-68-95-x [8 weeks] I love the bassline on this, but ultimately I think it could've done a lot better in my chart if built up to something bigger. It's still a bit of a tune though and easy to see why it was a R1 and Beatport fave with that groove. # . Wham! ~ Last Christmas Date entered: 26/12/11 Chart sales: 265,000 Chart run: …-x-17-21-3-2-x [4 weeks (13 total)] The highest Christmas song here is surprisingly not from Hurts, well it would have been but this got a few extra plays after the unfortunate timing of George Michael's death. :( Even not considering that, this is still one of my favourites of the season. # . deadmau5 ~ Strobe Date entered: 21/07/17 Chart sales: 278,400 Chart run: 32-51-62-65-x [4 weeks] A classic progressive house track from deadmau5, brought back to my chart following a belated BJSC appearance. Good trickle streams across the year also help this make the year-end list, it's a real banger. # . Calvin Harris ~ Hard To Love (feat. Jessie Reyez) Date entered: 07/07/17 Chart sales: 284,100 Chart run: 21-21-34-37-41-52-64-87-x [8 weeks] Yet another Calvin one, this one is more chilled and doesn't really qualify as dance even but it's a great album closer and a nice sentiment helped by Jessie's unique vocals. # . The xx ~ On Hold Date entered: 27/01/17 Chart sales: 284,700 Chart run: 84-67-62-52-71-82-86-77-x [8 weeks] I've never been big on The xx, always found them overrated. This surprised me though and it may be their best track to date, it also got them another minor chart hit which is quite hard for indie acts now. # . Hardy Caprio ~ Unsigned (feat. One Acen) Date entered: 01/09/17 Chart sales: 286,000 Chart run: 88-97-x-91-62-54-47-58-53-61-99-… [10 weeks (so far)] I have enjoyed the recent dominance of UK rap recently, this is one of the good songs to come out of that trend - would've been nice to see it make the UK top 40 but it never quite got there.
November 28, 20177 yr Dye My Hair is my favourite ALMA single, I think! A bit gutted it never grew into a hit but at least she got her moment with "Chasing Highs"... I hope she hasn't ruined the momentum with "Phases" which is definitely the weak link of them all for me. Loving the Calvin Harris album tracks in this section too, his album didn't have one dud on it for me  "Skrt On Me" will go down as a big missed single opportunity though in my opinion  Enjoying this so far!! :cheer:
November 28, 20177 yr Just Say  the hit that never was. KDA NEEDS to release a follow up I'm dying
November 28, 20177 yr Author comments: H8CHART 10. I actually quite like this song 9. Haven't heard a lot of this song, but I did hear a version where the melody is done in Big Ben mode 8. And good, you want to keep it that way with the ones you've not heard. :P TV Series Of The Year: I love Rick And Morty, one of my favourite animated programs at the moment along with The Simpsons, Regular Show, Amazing World Of Gumball and Gravity Falls, among some others. My favourites from Series 3 have to be The Ricklantis Mixup, Rickshank Redemption, Rest And Ricklaxation and Pickle Rick. Also on the subject of the honourable mention, Big Bang Theory is also great. Need to watch Stranger Things sometime, looks awesome from what I've heard.I really love Rick & Morty, if it keeps up its quality it may well overtake South Park as my fave animated program ever. I watched Gravity Falls last year and enjoyed that, you probably know there's a fan theory that the two shows are connected and there was a little Easter egg in one R&M episode, would be intrigued to see if anything else happens with that but I expect a crossover episode is unlikely to happen. Not really fussed on The Simpsons from what I've seen from it, haven't bothered with it as other animated sitcoms like Family Guy and South Park are funnier imo. Haven't seen any of Regular Show or Amazing World Of Gumball, I'll read up on those to see if there's any chance I'll like them (and I do need something to watch in the new year when the current South Park season ends and I imagine there'll be another long wait for the next R&M series). Stranger Things is brilliant, I'd deffo recommend especially as you like Gravity Falls, they're quite similar except Stranger Things is more mature and character driven. Film Of The Year: Wasn't Rogue One 2016? Still a pretty excellent movie. My favourite movie of 2017 would have to be Baby Driver Rogue One was 2016 but released in December so counts as 2017 for the purposes of this thread. The Force Awakens likewise was my favourite of 2016 but released in December 2015. I didn't see Baby Driver, wasn't fussed it didn't really appeal to me. Album Of The Year: Even though the Avicii one is more of an EP than an album. It was still pretty good, not No Plan EP or Skin Companion II good, but still good. Lonely Together is one of my favourite songs currently trending right now, It has been my number one for five weeks.Well it is an EP but I'm counting it as an album just to give Avicii the Album of the Year title again. :P I expect he'll get AOTY next year again for when he releases Part 2. Great to see 'Lonely Together' smashing your chart too, it's been on top of mine for 8 non-consecutive weeks (so far?). Starving: Eh Signs: Nice tropical house "Champagne for breakfast while I'm yawning" Great rundown so farI'm not familiar with FM-84 past 'Running In The Night' and 'Arcade Summer' but both songs are great, I like the 80s dance style to it. Didn't bother with the Joe Goddard album as 'Lose Your Love' was the only single to stand out for me. Wasn't aware of the Hurts song until a few years later actually, passed me by as sadly it wasn't a hit. I wouldn't say Signs is tropical house or tropical anything for that matter. anyway, thanks for the big long comment!! you really are passionate about personal charts, I should probably check yours more often. 'Baby' was a decent tune, never made my chart but maybe that was because by the tie I was into it it had been and gone (also HOW did I miss Anton coming onto the forum :P Must have been asleep or something)I suppose it may have made your top 100 if you were doing one at the time? It is kinda one of those songs for me that I like but never properly love. He posted in the 'Baby' thread in the dance forum!! Dye My Hair is my favourite ALMA single, I think! :cheer:Well I agree about 'Phases', I tried getting into that but it really is quite weak, no wonder it didn't take off for her. Plus the French rap ruins the flow. Only made it to about #59 in my chart. I'd say Bonfire > Chasing Highs > All Stars > Karma > Don't You Feel It > Dye My Hair > Phases. And the ones I rank above DMH are all yet to come, she's had quite a year. Glad you enjoyed the Calvin album too, hope to see his album high in your album chart. All the songs on it are great, says a lot that 9/10 of them made my top 250. And save your Skrt On Me love for later on in the countdown  Just Say  the hit that never was. KDA NEEDS to release a follow up I'm dying Yes yes why is he stalling?? I hope MoS didn't secretly drop him after Just Say not being a hit but I get the feeling that's what happened.
November 28, 20177 yr It was too long, when I posted a comment on your Year-End list. Alright, let's see: Your favourite TV Show: Rick & Morty (still need to watch the show) Your favourite Movie: Rogue One (Watched it and liked it, my favourite movie in 2017 is right now War For The Planet Of The Apes) Album of the Year: Avīci (01) (Called it, I also liked the Album) Your Top 250 songs of the year are really good, with some songs that I still need to hear.
