The 6 Istanbul videos on the SG YouTube channel has crossed over 4 million combined views.

They really need to add some more content, preferably some of the performances from 2019 :please:

Stop has hit 40M on youtube, 2B1 soon to reach 50M. :cheer: SYBT deserves 100M, this generation...

 Nice numbers, but they all deserve higher views!

If YouTube had been a thing back then, no doubt there videos would have hundreds of millions, maybe some over a billion views (very much a moot point, ha).

Although I do think it's nice that they were amongst some of the final popular artists to be hugely successful in the physical era - it was a simpler time, not that we knew any differently back then of course. Spice Girls in the digital age maybe wouldn't have been quite as magical~

For a band who haven't released any material at all in 13 years their streaming numbers are amazing. If you look at a lot of artists their more recent output has many more views than older stuff because it is released now not because it is a bigger hit.

I'm shocked that Rolling Stone has snubbed Spice Girls - Wannabe in their "100 Greatest Debut Singles of All Time" list. Wannabe is one of the most obviously huge and culturally relevant debut singles ever, so it seems like a deliberate exclusion.

It's not like the list is trying to be too cool for school either because One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful is as high as 38th. Apparently Destiny's Child - No No No is a greater girl group debut than Wannabe.

Yeah I saw that last night and couldnt help but cringe. A bit weird that they did indeed miss out on Wannabe as it is such an obvious choice for its cultural impact.

One could argue that Wannabe opened the doors for the very song they chose for their #1 spot

But whatever. To be honest, these lists are quite useless.

what a horrible site that is i immediately escaped !

Rolling Stone are often fairly complimentary of the girls too so that's quite a snub :o

I mean I'd put Wannabe in the top 10 if we are talking for the impact it had in that it literally exploded Girl Power onto the world, and basically led the way for the pop revolution that followed in America with Britney, Christina, etc etc all exploding too. I think Baby one more time is a good shout at #1 but Wannabe is up there too.

It's American magazine after all. You won't see Americans willingly admit that it's the Spice Girls who sparked that pop trend. It's always Britney or other Americans for them, in terms of girl group it's either the Supremes, TLC or DC because they're huge in America, the rest of the world is not important. Of course One Direction made the cut since Harry is still somewhat relevant there.

I read an article the other day about how the girls were snubbed from performing Wannabe on Beverly Hills 90210 and were replaced by The Cardigans with "Lovefool".

The producer at the time says star of the show Jason Priestley ensured it didn't happen and he actually got him fired over suggesting it.

Where is Priestley now?

Agree, which is why it was so glaringly obvious that this is a snub. As you say, RS were quite supportive of the girls too. Their cover is iconic!

Just came across this list from the Olympic themselves. Wow I didn't expect this.

Most of those performances were crap  I mean Jessie J and Paul McCartney butchered We will rock you and Hey Jude. Some great ones though I mean the Pavarotti one is quite emotional. Spice Girls were easily and far away #1 though

I guess it's about the vibes and the atmosphere at those exact moments as well. To be honest, top k-pop performers are mostly great in terms of energy and choreography, they can outperform the girls easily but I guess no one could beat that moment when the we heard the first beats of wannabe, the five iconic cabs and the girls appeared. Back when the twitter was still clean, no pop stan invasion, the girls made that organic twttter worldwide trend happen. Pure power.

The girls were EPIC in every way it was SUCH a moment.

I get it in that the other two are such iconic songs, really can't stand Jessie J though rather they had done it with Adam Lambert he is AMAZING in Queen  And again I love Hey Jude a brilliant song, but Paul McCartney always sounds awful singing it now  it is a moment though and I think the same of Elton John but again his songs are so iconic - didn't stop me from going to see him in concert and loving every second

Re: Olympics performance - I always get chills when I hear the opening bars of Wannabe and the crowd cheers in recognition. Completely iconic. The taxis idea was pure genius. If this is really the last time we'll ever see them perform together as a 5 piece, then what a sensational way to close that chapter.

I just watched it now, and I almost felt like crying lol, it's just such an incredible moment and it gets me a bit emotional. The vibe of it was perfect, they looked great, they were flawless. It's so weird to think that it was 8 years ago.

This is a very minor thing, but it's a slight pity that the taxi visuals ended up being out of time with the performance. It's not hugely noticeable, but I remember a fan re-synced the performance & the visuals and it showed how intricate they were with the music, transitioning at specific moments. You notice it most at the end because the visuals have stopped when they're doing their closing chant in Spice Up Your Life. I bet the people responsible for creating it were disappointed when they saw it didn't end up working how it should have done. Nevertheless it still looked fantastic.
