January 22, 20187 yr Author On My Mind what a tune  still so amazed it actually became a hit, but overplay killed it pretty quick for me too actually I really like Solo Dance but never completely got into it, it never even made my top 40 :o I was happy to see it become such a big hit but it's generic-ness was a bit offputting for me I think Hurricane is great too, if I was in BJSC at the time it would easily have got my 18 tbh Glad you like them! I remember in my Top 40 days there were songs that probably deserved a chart position that just didn't get them - thanks Jeff! WHAT a trio there  'On My Mind' and 'Solo Dance' were both great to see/hear up high in the chart, 'Hurricane' didn't hit me until after it won BJSC but has grown immensely! (Hope that old format learns its lesson and goes away for good :P) Just realized you had 40 #1s in one year, wow! :o Songs don't really stick around long for me  Plus the 'Lukas Graham Rule' I lowkey follow - if a song isn't as good as 7 Years it can't be #1 for three weeks :P Thanks Jordan!
January 22, 20187 yr Author #46: Kamferdrops - Jag Trodde Anglarna Fanns H9L1w3hwLOU Peak: 02 / Month of Peak: August 2017 Kamferdrops' Chart History: 2017 02 Jag Trodde Anglarna Fanns 2017 91 Tusen Bitar Next up is bizarre Norwegian musician Kamferdrops with her cover of Ole Ivars' Jag Trodde Anglarna Fanns. Now if you were just to listen to this song you might have thought it was normal. But let's face it - if it was just a song there's no way it would have spread around as quickly as it did. The faces of the performers and musicians from the original have been cut out and plonked in this video with a load of birds and dancing unicorns, making everyone suitably weirded out. It did grow on me though, peaking at #2 and only dropping to #18 the week after when the new format kicked in and all its chart neighbours crashed out of the Top 40. Unfortunately the follow-up was disappointingly generic and didn't even crack the Top 90.

Or maybe it will. Anyway, here is the song that redeemed Captain Cuts for me after I was kid of annoyed Love Like We Used To was even a #1. It's a very alternative-dance track which was the appeal for me, and it grew on me fairly quickly. Didn't realise it had a music video until now though :P #1 Ranking #21: The Knocks & Captain Cuts - House Party #22: Martin Jensen - Solo Dance #23: Disciples - On My Mind #24: Kah-Lo - Fasta #25: Lost Frequencies ft. January 22, 20187 yr On My Mind and Solo Dance  Boo at them missing the top 40 here -_- Neither were #1s for me but are a lot higher in my EOY. Also enjoyed Hurricane and Jag Trodde Anglarnna Fanns, both great BJSC discoveries. More non-#1s than #1s in your top 40 then that's surprising.
January 22, 20187 yr On My Mind is one of the best dance hits this year for sure *.* And some great BJSC picks too in Hurricane, There's a Honey and Kamferdrops, the latter really did get stuck in my head for a long time. Interested to see your number 1 as I'm not familiar with a lot of this chart :o

Although most new #1s are already out so maybe not. Thanks Dan! I then followed him sporadically, meaning that '93 had been out 4 months before I actually discovered it. It was his best yet, making me feel nostalgic even though I wasn't alive then, and I really recommend people listen to this even if they haven't listened to any of Youngr's stuff before. It has also had a very lengthy chart run and it's still on my chart now :D

This blends dance and afro-beats together really well, with Mr. Eazi giving us an amazing first verse, followed by Kah-Lo and her stunning vocals as always, this is the highest track from all four artists in this year's EOY.
January 23, 20187 yr Nice to see Alvaro Soler on here, "Animal" was a former #1 in my chart and his song with Morat on the spanish Despicable Me 3 soundtrack was good too! Also I'm glad to see "Solo Dance", "On My Mind", "'93" and "Money" on there!
January 24, 20187 yr some great dance tunes + Hurricane and Juice *.* lovely, never heard the Knocks & Captain Cuts track before but i'd be interested to hear it, loved Classic for a while and Love Like We Used To is one of the best Niceland entries

Also I'm glad to see "Solo Dance", "On My Mind", "'93" and "Money" on there! Glad you like these! Agree Yo Contigo was good also, more of a slow burner than an instant hit like Animal though! Thanks Sergej! some great dance tunes + Hurricane and Juice *.* lovely, never heard the Knocks & Captain Cuts track before but i'd be interested to hear it, loved Classic for a while and Love Like We Used To is one of the best Niceland entries Glad you like these tracks! I discovered this by chance and it hit me instantly, the vocals fitting really well with the beat which I liked. I didn't realise until later that it was a cover of a Cassidy track, but I much prefer this version. It's still in my Top 100 now and holds up really well! #1 Ranking #20: Breathe Carolina & Flatdisk - Hotel #21: The Knocks & Captain Cuts - House Party #22: Martin Jensen - Solo Dance #23: Disciples - On My Mind #24: Kah-Lo - Fasta #25: Lost Frequencies ft. The video is also worth a watch, I really like it! Kind of annoyed I put this just outside the Top 40 :(

I discovered this the week it was out thanks to the impression House Work left on me, and to see it go Top 40 and then Top 10 so quickly honestly delighted me. I also remember doing binary equations at that peart of the year and just hearing 'zero zero one zero one zero one one' to the tune of the bridge of this song  Edited January 28, 20187 yr by PeteFromLeeds
January 28, 20187 yr You Don't Know Me is pretty good, it grew old after a little while thanks to overplay but I can enjoy it again now. I prefer Instruction and Breathe though!
January 30, 20187 yr Author You Don't Know Me is pretty good, it grew old after a little while thanks to overplay but I can enjoy it again now. I prefer Instruction and Breathe though! I like all of them but YDKM beats all but House Work for me. Instruction was very instant and I don't think I've really gone back to it since. Thanks Joseph!
January 30, 20187 yr Author #39: Crystal Fighters - Good Girls -qb8V-PVD3A Peak: 02 / Month of Peak: January 2017 Crystal Fighters' Chart History: 2016 09 All Night 2017 02 Good Girls Next up it's Spanish-influenced UK band Crystal Fighters, who initially caught my eye with their catchy single 'All Night' which stood out at the time due to the higher-pitched vocals that reminded me of 'Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard' a bit. They then released this and I was completely sold. A catchy happy beat contrasting to the sad lyrics, and everything else I needed to love it. I appear to have lost track of them now as they've released an entire album under my radar :P Better give that a listen!
January 30, 20187 yr Author #38: Infernal - Hurricane TePgSS3h92A Peak: 04 / Month of Peak: January 2017 Infernal's Chart History: 2017 04 Hurricane 2017 32 Weightless Another track from the start of the year - in fact it peaked in the same week as Good Girls :o I was a big fan of From Paris to Berlin back in the day, and when I heard these guys were back I had to give them a listen. Needless to say, this really stood out. The vocals are all in the perfect places and the drop is amazing as well. Their second track, Weightless, was nice but not as much. These have also gone under the radar for me as they released a new track a month ago
January 30, 20187 yr Author #37: Nemo Schiffman - I Don't Mind UzcBqJ_9aX8 Peak: 04 / Month of Peak: February 2017 Nemo Schiffman's Chart History: 2017 04 I Don't Mind The barrage of early-2017 hits continues with my 18-pointer from BJSC 91 (thanks Joseph). Schiffman is a French child star who I'd never heard of before this, and he's also younger than me which is scary. What I do know is that I instantly loved this, with a catchy beat and great vocals from the man himself. I also know it wasn't on Spotify for the duration of its time in my chart, which was incredibly annoying as that's the only way I listen to music. I also kept getting him mixed up with German guitarist Finn Kleffman who was in the Top 10 at the same time (he's still to come). His follow-up single 'Yeah I Don't Mind', was exactly the same song but in French, and his actual follow-up single sounds like the type of teen pop I want to throw my radio out of the window for. It's also not on Spotify so it's unlikely I'll go back to it.

I knew a few songs from both of these artists, but nothing 'proper' had really been released whilst my chart existed. When I first heard this I thought it sounded nice but typical for an underground dance hit. Then it started to climb the charts and I suddenly began rooting for it. It's not really like anything in the charts at the moment and music like this really deserves any success it can get. It was a very slow climber to #1 but spent a pretty long time in my chart and only just dropped out this week. #1 Ranking #19: CamelPhat & Elderbrook - Cola #20: Breathe Carolina & Flatdisk - Hotel #21: The Knocks & Captain Cuts - House Party #22: Martin Jensen - Solo Dance #23: Disciples - On My Mind #24: Kah-Lo - Fasta #25: Lost Frequencies ft.
