December 5, 20177 yr Author Albums 10 Ed Sheeran - ÷ | 1-1-2-3-3-4-5-7-9-1-6-7-9-11-X (14 weeks) He's been omnipresent all year round, and Ed Sheeran managed a fair bit of success in my chart as well as the official chart. ÷ was his second #1 album, following x, and actually went one better and managed a second week at the top straight after. Whilst it isn't still in the top 10 like it is in the UK album chart, it managed a respectable run including 8 weeks in my top 5, and a return to #1 after I saw him live. My favourites on the album include Galway Girl, Barcelona, Bibia Be Ye Ye, Hearts Don't Break Around Here and Shape of You, but ultimately I'd say it's his strongest album to date. 9 Zara Larsson - So Good | 3-1-1-2-1-1-3-4-5-8-8-10-10-13-14-14-14-15-15-15-13-8-10-14-15-15-X (26 weeks) Moving on up to another album that impacted near the start of the year. Zara Larsson's debut album was hugely anticipated by me, thanks to the high quality of all singles she'd released in advance. Annoyingly, the album was a bit of a disappointment on first listen, because those pre-album singles (all of which went top 10 on my chart) seemed to be the best songs, and it led to a #3 debut for the album. Thankfully, it grew on me over the week that followed, as I got used to the rest of the album. Songs like TG4M and Funeral were particularly big growers. I saw Zara live at the Hippodrome in Kingston on the day it came out, and it was a fantastic gig. What's even better is that I think her second album could be even better - she has the potential to make a more consistent and cohesive album next time and I think it could be absolutely amazing!
December 6, 20177 yr I listened to Divide a couple of months ago. I thought it was okay. Favourite Tracks: Castle On The Hill, Eraser, What Do I Know, Shape Of You
December 6, 20177 yr Both albums are so so strong  I won't reveal my albums (peep my countdown for that ;)) but I do really love them both!
December 6, 20177 yr I’ve warmed up to Galway Girl over the past couple months so nice to see it’s one of your faves.
December 6, 20177 yr Author Albums 8 Demi Lovato - Tell Me You Love Me | 1-1-2-5-6-5-7-5-7-… (9+ weeks) Demi Lovato's scored three huge top 2 hits this year, and in one form or another, all three feature on her latest album Tell Me You Love Me. It became her second #1 album in my chart, matching previous album Confident, although it's shown much better longevity so far. Whilst I enjoyed Confident, it didn't draw me back much at all. Tell Me You Love Me feels a lot more focused in contrast. It's cohesive, and feels very natural for Demi. Highlights include Daddy Issues and Sexy Dirty Love as well as the singles of course! All this said, I'd still say Demi is her best album. Although it never made #1 in my chart, it proved itself with huge longevity and is packed with huge highs. http://i.imgur.com/KZlQUsN.png 7 Dua Lipa - Dua Lipa | 3-1-2-5-5-6-5-3-4-6-8-4-5-5-6-7-9-13-13-15-14-12-13-1-2-4-... (26+ weeks) She's one of the breakout stars of the past year and a half, and it came as no surprise to me when Dua Lipa's long-delayed self titled debut album was a triumph. The singles so far have been mostly great so my hype levels were high, but I was anticipating the campaign to be a total mess what with the constant delays and the messiness of Lost In Your Light's release. However, the album as a whole is fantastic to listen to, with the 12 track standard having little in the way of duds. My absolute favourite has to be New Rules, an obvious answer I know, but alongside other singles like Blow Your Mind (Mwah), Hotter Than Hell and Be the One, my favourites include Begging, Garden and Thinking 'Bout You. I'm so delighted that things turned out fine in the end for Dua, and I can't wait to see how she builds on this to create what will hopefully be an even better second album!
December 7, 20177 yr Love what I've heard from both those albums! That chart run for Dua is... interesting :P
December 7, 20177 yr Author Thanks again for the comments guys :D Love what I've heard from both those albums! That chart run for Dua is... interesting :P It rebounded to #1 after I saw her live and has been hanging around at the top end since!!
December 7, 20177 yr Author Albums http://i.imgur.com/m965lxt.png 6 Kesha - Rainbow | 2-1-1-2-2-2-4-6-6-9-10-11-11-12-12-14-… (16+ weeks) I'd been anticipating Kesha's return for years. Obviously it's understandable why it took her so long to follow up the fantastic Warrior from 2012, but nevertheless my hype levels were high and I was impatient to hear something new. I wasn't really sure what to expect from a new Kesha album - more trashy pop bops or something much more mellow? Ultimately, Rainbow ended up somewhere in the middle. Perhaps she's not the trashy Ke$ha anymore, but songs like Woman and Boots retain the fun, outgoing identity of her previous releases while singles Praying and Learn to Let Go show us a vulnerable side following her allegations against Dr Luke. The result is a brilliant album, and one that's an absolute joy to listen to - even more so when you consider how much effort and emotion has gone into it. I'm gutted that I can't place it in my EOY album top 5, but that just goes to show the quality this year! 5 Taylor Swift - reputation | 2-1-2-… (3+ weeks) Pipping Kesha to the post, and scoring this year's highest placed album by a female artist, is Taylor Swift. Taylor's one of my absolute favourite artists, and it's no surprise that reputation was another fantastic release from her, but my expectations ended up a little all-over-the-place by the time it actually got released. I'll talk more about individual songs later, but Look What You Made Me Do had a high burn rate and ...Ready For It? never quite hit the spot for me, so my usual high expectations had been lowered a bit. Thankfully, Taylor proved that I should never have doubted her. Tracks like I Did Something Bad, Don't Blame Me, End Game, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things and Call It What You Want are classic Taylor, albeit brought up to date with the pop sound of 1989 built on with a darker, edgier sound. I can understand the criticisms of the lyrics, but the overall package is strong even if it's not Taylor's absolute best album.
December 8, 20177 yr Hi Joseph, two brilliant albums in that last reveal. I wasn't sure if I was going to be a fan of Kesha this era after first hearing Praying because trashy Kesha was definitely the reason I fell in love with her as an artist but the album as a whole was so strong and it was so nice to see her doing what she wanted to do without being tied down to Dr Luke. Learn to Let Go is one of my favourite songs of hers now  Reputation is still growing on me with every listen but I'm absolutely loving it at the moment. I wasn't so sure on the second half of the album at first but there are some proper bangers on there. I'm glad she's picked Gorgeous as the next single though as that is one of my absolute favourites. I Did Something Bad next please!!1

(20+ weeks) I think we all know that I've been a huge fan of The Vamps right from the start, and 2017 continued their hit streak for me. All Night, released at the end of 2016, is now my favourite of theirs, so naturally, hype was sky high for their third studio album. Ultimately, it was revealed that their third and fourth albums would form part of a project called Night & Day, with two separate albums - the Night Edition and the Day Edition. The Night Edition came out this year, including All Night as well as two other singles: Middle of the Night and Hands. It continued their dancier sound, although thanks to Brad's charisma and the fun vibe in the tracks, their identity wasn't lost and most of the album tracks felt like a natural progression from 2015's Wake Up. Non-single highlights include Shades On and It's a Lie, plus Connor's solo track On My Way from his special edition of the album. It was a brilliant moment seeing them achieve a UK #1 album, even if the fall that followed was massive :drama: I can't wait for the Day Edition, I hope it's just as good! http://i.imgur.com/vTaFIKq.png 3 FO&O - FO&O | 2-2-2-1-2-3-4-3-3-4-5-3-5-7-9-9-7-8-5-6-9-9-11-11-8-9-11-11-13-... (29+ weeks) The Vamps fail to unseat the new boyband on the block. Felix, Oscar and Omar, or FO&O, are a Swedish trio who first made my singles chart in 2016. They charted at #7 with My Girl and #20 with Who Doesn't Love Love, under the name The Fooo Conspiracy with fourth member Olly. Come 2017, they were lined up to take part in Melodifestivalen, but Olly left the group and they renamed themselves. Competing with Gotta Thing About You, they reached the MFest final and a couple of months later, they released their self-titled second album (their first album Off the Grid was released in 2014, under original band name The Fooo). It's a mature pop album for the most part, with songs that wouldn't sound out of place on Carly Rae Jepsen's E•MO•TION such as Teenage Talking and So So Good. There's also a few of their older songs included, such as their debut single Build a Girl, which are more teen-pop based. It's a fantastic pop album and one I enjoy revisiting. They're currently on a hiatus for some solo projects (Felix for example is taking part in MFest as a soloist next year, expect big things in next year's EOY), but will be back as a group before long :D
December 8, 20177 yr Author I can reveal my top 2 albums are.... DECLAN MCKENNA - WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE CAR? and HARRY STYLES - HARRY STYLES Who has taken it? :o
December 8, 20177 yr i've got a good feeling Declan could nab it... me and you have been singlehandedly keeping him in the top 10 of the album multichart :heehee:
December 8, 20177 yr Author Albums http://i.imgur.com/1bAvrze.png 2 Harry Styles - Harry Styles | 1-1-1-2-3-4-2-1-2-3-4-5-7-6-7-8-6-7-6-8-10-10-12-12-9-4-6-7-9-... (29+ weeks) If you'd have told me at the start of 2017 that Harry Styles' debut solo album wouldn't be my favourite album of the year, I wouldn't have believed you. Alas, here we are, and Harry's just missed out on the top spot. I'm not exaggerating when I say he's "just" missed out too - it took me a while to decide which of these two should be #1, and it was difficult because they had different trajectories. Harry's album was an instant hit for me. I was always going to enjoy it, purely for the fact that I could listen to his voice all day (he was my favourite 1D member for non-shallow reasons too x). Sign of the Times built my expectations high (I'll talk more about that much later on), and whilst nothing else on the album quite reaches the same highs, it's still a fantastic listen and quite unexpected from him. Generally, I think I prefer the slower tracks on the album. Sweet Creature has been a slow burner in particular, while Two Ghosts was an instant highlight. He excels in those acoustic ballads, allowing his voice to shine with some great lyrics. However, I enjoy most of the uptempos too, notably Carolina which really must be single 4 in my opinion! The only real downpoint for me is Kiwi - whilst I've come to enjoy it more with his X Factor performance, it's still a little too rocky for me and isn't quite to my taste. Nevertheless, Harry's got me listening to music that I generally wouldn't be so bothered with, and it's an absolute triumph. http://i.imgur.com/CwAJnTC.png 1 Declan McKenna - What Do You Think About the Car? | 2-1-1-2-3-4-4-4-1-3-4-5-7-2-2-4-3-5-... (18+ weeks) I've always said that I love a surprise in music, and here's the proof. Declan McKenna was vaguely on my radar a while ago, but I didn't think to check him out for no particular reason. However, I saw the good reviews for this album on Buzzjack when it came out, and decided I'd check out his current (at the time) single Humongous. I was pleasantly surprised and kept listening to the album. and whilst I enjoyed it, I didn't totally love it. Thankfully, there was enough to keep me relistening, and I bought the CD on holiday in Wales during the summer. I kept playing it and each listen, I loved it more and more. It has so far spent three weeks at #1 in my album chart, and only one week of 18 thus far outside my top 5. The reason why I love the album so much is that Declan talks about interesting themes. He's younger than me, only 19 years old, but he's commentating on transgender issues and corruption in football, which all seems quite deep for someone so young. It also has the potential to be incredibly pretentious and actually quite annoying, even more so when you consider the genre of music he makes, but actually all of the songs are perfectly accessible and radio friendly. Amongst the seriousness of the lyrics, Declan's not forgotten the pop hooks, creating an album where most songs have a catchy chorus that you'll pick up super quickly. This is why I like it more than many albums in the same genre - he's not been a snob and shunned anything resembling pop music. The pop sensibilities are all there, but Declan retains his identity as an artist and isn't drawn in by current trends. It all comes together to make an album that I'm still not bored of. My absolute favourite would have to be Declan's first release Brazil, which I'll discuss in further detail later, but there's nothing I dislike, and that's ultimately what gave him the edge over Harry. I'm disappointed by its commercial success, peaking at #11 and plummeting out of the top 100, but I hope his recent BBC Introducing award can keep the support rolling in from BBC radio and he can have a more successful second era. I'm so excited to see him live next year too, bound to be brilliant! 10.0 Humongous 11.0 Brazil 09.0 The Kids Don't Wanna Come Home 08.5 Mind 08.0 Make Me Your Queen 09.0 Isombard 09.5 I Am Everyone Else 07.5 Bethlehem 10.0 Why Do You Feel So Down 08.0 Paracetamol 07.5 Listen to Your Friends NEXT: A quick look at my points charts of 2017 before we dive into my top 250 songs!
