Wonder what Ed kworb lead is translating into sales Wise? The only sales info we have from last week is 12k sales for Havana, although this is prob less than Anywhere had. Perfect at a guess could sell 20-24k in pure sales and 15k in streams??? Tell me if I'm totally wrong as I'm guessing!

“Anywhere” was #1 on sales last week with around 17.5K (so around 2.5K/day) - yesterday Ed/Beyonce sold around 3.5 times more on iTunes so around 8.7K sales yesterday.

Thanks, and it'll rise more with the XF final performance I'm sure. Plus those 700k streams he got yday!

Anyone else see the battlefield that is the spotify chart today?? Changes galore!!

God forbid an artist aiming for the top. Anyone who aims for higher than #44 is such a total douche.

It's just the way he's so desperate with the XF performance, Beyoncé remix when he's had such a hugely successful era anyway, I really don't understand why he absolutely NEEDS to have #01 - whether it is him or his label, I find it all so cringeworthy.

Plus the song is absolutely diabolical and belongs to Westlife.

I don't get your stance, what is the problem with wanting success?? In 10-15 years he will be on radio 2 and people he surprised to see him in the top 40, it's his time let him have it and if he wants to promo and get the song to do well that's the whole point!

Different to Westlife too, he writes his own songs!

Ooh good for him, he must be so proud, give him a Ivor Novello for that masterpiece right now hun.

i think the reason everyone is pissed at him CLOGGING up the #1 spot at such an important time of the year for the charts is the fact Perfect is dull as dishwater, completely uninspired and blatantly trend-chasing/a clone of all of his other shit ballads.

i'm sure if he'd released an even slightly bearable acoustic pop track and hadn't chucked a remix out JUST when tracks that have been promoted super hard (eg. Anywhere) were about to hit the #1 spot Buzzjack wouldn't be half as bothered, but it's the way he's gone about it that just seems a bit off to me!

That's because BJ loves Anywhere for various reasons. I'm mean if Anywhere was popular enough it would have already hit the top spot but it hasn't, that's not Eds fault! Plus Anywhere has been huge already irrespective of if it hits no1/2!

Let's get this straight the video is Christmas inspired, the song is easily adapted to make it Christmassy, make no bones about it the record company have planned this to be a song which will get played every Christmas and a nice little money spinner for Ed and them.

This has been perfectly plotted and it is working to perfection (ahem) for both of them.

You can't begrudge Ed and his team for going all out to try and get Xmas #1. For the past 15 years it has been spoilt by the X Factor etc. so it's great to see an act going for the Xmas number chart. Also I think this goes far beyond money etc. I think for Ed it is more about immortalising yourself in history. He wants to make X as successful as it can be, I mean he is at his absolute peak popularity right now, I am not sure he will ever be as popular and successful as he is now in terms of mainstream chart success so you might as well go all out and place yourself in the history books before somebody else comes along.

 13. P!nk - What About Us (& 74, 1404)

 15. P!nk - Beautiful Trauma

Graham Norton gave a good boost to "What About Us" and looks like "Beautiful Trauma" was indirectly boosted as well! Hopefully "Beautiful Trauma" will be performed on the X-factor final and go top 10 on iTunes. :cheer: The album got boosted back into the top 10 on iTunes at #7 too.

73. Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me (& 396)

113. Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree (& 383, 566, 1405)

117. Leona Lewis - One More Sleep (& 126)

I believe all 3 are pretty much selling the same once you combine their multiple versions. Only difference is their streaming which Ariana is currently doing best on, then Leona and then Kelly. Although a lot of it is due to playlist order with Ariana near the top of the main spotify Christmas playlist.

What irks me is that everyone says he’s so humble and doesn’t care about chart success etc... but he’s so manipulative it’s unreal.

Some acts are happy to make music and don't care about chart positions clearly Ed has decided he likes chart positions and fame and he has the right management team and record company to achieve this I mean Simon Cowell couldn't have plotted this release any better.

This is why I am not a fan he may write the songs and well as sing them etc but clearly as we have seen this year he knows how to release, when to release for maximum effect something other acts will probably be looking at and its not about the music anymore with Ed.

Then it will comfort you to know that he desperately wanted “Castle On The Hill” to overtake “Shape Of You” to make #1... and week after week it failed to happen! :D

Don't be surprised to see Symphony climb throughout christmas as it's being used for the BBC One christmas presentation this year.

How do you know this? Talk about sweeping general statements. Chart success and sales are a measure of success, to claim you are successful you need to have hits! Ed has bucket loads and has a great team behind him (probably the most resource out of his entire label). It almost sounds like it's a crime to have a good team behind you!

I don't think it's about fame etc. for Ed it is about being immortialised in music. I think that is the greatest compliment as a musician that you can achieve - mass people remember your chart success and hits 50-60 years after they have been released. There are very few artists in this catergory..

 49. Jax Jones - Breathe

 50. Sigrid - Strangers

 95. Clean Bandit - Symphony

 101. Martin Garrix - So Far Away :D

Haven’t seen the Symphony advert yet
