Comment: This is by far the strongest of the 3 Ariana-Cashmere Cat collaborations. Ariana sounds effortless cool here and I would love something sounding like to appear on AG4. Cashmere's production is great, it more subdued than Adore and but more noticeable than Be My Baby, a perfect blend of the two.

Comment: This had such a criminally short run in my chart. I did get bored of it quickly at the time but I got back into it just as fast and it should have certainly re-entered my chart for at least double the amount of weeks it ended up with. This managed to be self-reflective and well thought-out; something that can't be said about most of his tweets.

Comment: Although I agree with the message of this song I don't think it's very successful with delivering it. Comment: J. Cole is the king of releasing songs that I listen to all the time but underperform in my charts. Apparently & Wet Dreamz are 2 songs that I've listened to practically every week for the past 3 years and really deserved to have been massive #1 in my chart. Deja Vu is the song that finally completes that holy trinity, it was great to see this become his first official top 40 too. Comment: And now for something that couldn't be any different coming from the very same artist. It starts out as a typical rap brag track about his own prowess but does something in the third verse which seems alien for any rapper to do: questions his own sexuality and objectively discusses the same act as discussed before but from a different perspective. Comment: Another one! Quavo & Chance both produce some great verses here but Lil Wayne's is so misguided it's astonishing nobody called him up on it. The song is about being happy with someone but Wayne's verse threatens to kill people, comparing his relationship to Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown, his girlfriend taking Molly and turning zombie like and er... meeting DJ Khaled, how romantic. The rest of the song is great but Wayne makes it so crazy and more interesting I guess. :lol:

Comment: This was the least instant Little Mix single for me for quite a while. Originally I was finding this a bit forgettable and unremarkable but then that chorus hit me and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. I still haven't heard the CNCO original but I doubt it could be anywhere near as good as this.

Comment: And now a song from my favourite film of the year; Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2. This plays during the closing credits and initially reached #1 after seeing the film in cinema then dropping quickly. But then they released the music video featuring nearly the whole cast parodying old disco videos which elevated it to a whole new level. It has to be by far the best music video of the year and fully symbolises everything Marvel is doing right at the moment.

Comment: This is the biggest waste of potential all year, how this wasn't properly pushed as a single I've never know. This sounds like such a smash, even more so than Starboy or I Feel It Coming. This is the closest I've heard someone come to Michael Jackson and I'm sure it would have been huge had they pushed it with a video around the time of the album.

Comment: This is such an anthem from Run The Jewels. This constantly re-entered my chart because it was one that never got boring. Peaked at 3 around the time of their Glastonbury performance. This song was the perfect choice for the Black Panther trailer too, unbelievable hype for that now. Call Ticketron has became the first #1 of 2018 in my chart so they're certainly in for another successful year.

Comment: The big novelty hit of the year! I'm glad this became such a big hit because although it's not serious, the gap in quality size between this and the Chris/Kem song is massive. Comment: After finishing top last year, Little Mix will have to settle for #13 in 2017. This was the song off the album I was hoping the most would become a single, the featuring of Stormzy just made it even better. They are 2 of my favourite artists but not one's I would have ever expected to collaborate together. As much as I love Little Mix, I hope they take a rest this year, they really do seem to be everywhere at the moment.

Comment: This is practically Lock Doh, Pt. 2 so was always going to be massive here. Donae'o is really positioning himself as the 'King of the Hook'. I saw him this year supporting Dizzee Rascal and it completely went off when he did Lock Doh, it's a shame it was like a week before this track came out. If they can continue the trend, maybe Giggs/Donae'o's next collab can be an EOY top 10.

Comment: And just missing out on the all-important EOY top 10 is Dua Lipa. This is deservingly one of biggest songs of the year and I'm pretty devastated I can make no room for it to reach the top 10. At least it joins some great songs in finishing 11th. This is the song (and video) that has made her a big name and it's not hard to see why. The video is simple but very clever and the song is such an ear worm.

Comment: This is probably the shock #1 of the year really. It doesn't really sound at-all commercial but that beat is too good to deny. It sounds very dark and moody which is perfect for a 21 feature. It has became a bit overplayed though now but I was absolutely loving it when it was first out, shown by it becoming one of the rare songs this year than managed 3+ weeks at the top.

Comment: This is probably the song I go back to least in the whole top 10 but it's dominance of my chart at the start of the year can't be understated. There was so many great tunes on his album that I feel like this has almost been forgotten about. This was a great comeback from him, the hype seemed to be huge and it certainly paid off. Hopefully album 2 can deliver something as massive as this.

Comment: I predicted in my EOY chart last year that Lil Uzi Vert was going to have a big year and it couldn't have got off to a better start. This is where I first started to really get into the Metro Boomin productions. Even though this blew up because of the 'Raindrop, Drop Top' meme, I think it's safe to say it's outgrown that now. Offset really kills it in this song, it's crazy how far Migos have came since the awfulness of their earlier songs like Hannah Montana & Versace when they literally just said the same word over and over again.

Comment: Very similarly to Broccoli last year, Lil Yachty has featured on a song that just makes me happy every time I hear it. Kyle's verse is great, actually quite sweet and witty and Yachty's is so terrible and misguided it's quite endearing. The chorus is the biggest earworm of the year, the reinterpretation of the kid's game certainly makes it memorable. I can't wait for the 'remarkably upbeat but with a weirdly disturbing Lil Yachty feature' smash of 2018.

Comment: Camila was always my favourite from Fifth Harmony so I knew she was always going to do well here when she went solo. But Crying In The Club was a bit underwhelming and this took ages to properly hit me. But I'm very glad that it did, it really feels like she found herself as an artist here. The album finally came out this week and I've only heard it once but I found it very enjoyable and can't wait to listen to it again. I'm not quite sure what Young Thug really adds to this one but whatever. How have I just realised that Pharrell Williams does backing vocals on this track?! :o

So glad New Rules did as well as it did officially, it's not ultra-generic pop which is what I liked about it, a very worthy first female #1 since Adele.
