are there actually any real storylines in EE?!

like all the others seem to deal with various real issues in quite a hard hitting, moving way spliced in with some comedy

ee is just nothing, the moment it looked like your heart could break for karen, she laughs and sneaks her vile ex up to bed past her sleeping son who is looking out for her?! it really isn’t enjoyable watching such consistently hateful characters

Things need to start happening. They seem to for a couple of episodes but then things just get boring again.

Sadly the show need new writers to make that happen. I would think at Tuesday's episode was down to 3.95 million the head of BBC One will be wanting answers from the head writing team!

it’s truly a dreadful writing team

i ask anyone here what is going for this soap?

there is no leading light, nothing to grab a hold of...there aren’t any proper storylines ;(

The writing team are indeed the problem. The storylines are tedious and not well thought out and lack impact, emotion, or most things that keep the viewer happy.

Taking what is currently happening in the show, none of the work indicates that an existing storyline has the potential to grow and develop into an amazing storyline.

Emmerdale at the moment have yet again,a great mixture of storylines and i feel the team behind Emmerdale are listening to the fans of the show and giving them what they want within reason.

By large, i am not someone that generally compares the soaps to each other as they usually all have their own strengths and weaknesses but the bbc have to see that Emmerdale has managed to become top league now and as a result has pushed them down the table which has never happened for such a long period previously.

I seriously question most of the decisions in relation to the show. The axed characters for example, Loren, Abi and Ben, the exits done nothing to benefit the show nor has it opened up good storytelling opportunities. I would be of the opposite and believe keeping them in the show was more beneficial. The Aidan nonsense is as believable as pigs flying and the conclusion was terrible. I have returned to struggling to watch the episodes again, i had seriously high hopes for a turn around after the Christmas Day episode but nothing is improving.

The issue definitely lies within the storylining. The simple fact is that nothing is happening.... and why? Emmerdale's storylines recently include post-traumatic amnesia, potential harm of a baby and the breakdown of a long-running relationship between two developed characters. Corrie's gone even further down the issue-tackling route, including drug addiction, a serial killer, severe OCD and of course the male rape storyline starting soon. EastEnders has chess playing, a cardboard cutout villain who is scared off by Phil Mitchell threatening to phone the police, and samosas. There is absolutely no comparison. The cast is mostly fine, I think a lot of them are being severely wasted. There are so many potential storylines and issues they can tackle but for some reason, they've decided that's not a priority.

The writers are atrocious - they don't even research things properly.

Jack almost stole someone's baby just because the writers love him. Baked Bean Branning picked up a premature baby!!!

Just binged the last 3 episodes. I won't even bother moaning because everyone in this thread has said what I feel  Excruciatingly bad :drama:
Aren't the soap awards coming up in a couple of months? It'll be very interesting to see if EE walk away empty-handed again!

Ok there are quite a lot of faults EE has had over the past year but Jack did NOT steal anyone’s baby.

Um the whole thing with Ronnie's ex was baby stealinh.

Ronnie died. Was JAck the legal parent? No. Had he adopted the baby? No. Then it goes back to the father. Well, in real life. This is Eastenders.

Yes but Jack was legally the stepfather of the baby at the time of Ronnie’s death and the real father wasn’t on the scene. Jack did not pinch Matthew from a crib and take him from his home. Granted, that sounds like something ronnie would have done, but that didn’t actually happen.

So he had no legal claim to the baby. As soon as the father was on the scene, boom. Game over. But EE made it seem like the father (can't remember who) needed Baked Bean Branning's help to get HIS son back!!

I legit think you’re being overdramatise because you hate the character though. This is such a minor thing to be making a big deal about considering the storyline ended months ago and Jack didn’t get the child.

That ending was so predictable, I just knew he would do a runner when he saw that wad of money.
