December 15, 20177 yr I can't see them ever removing Xmas songs from the charts, for a number of reasons 1) They only take over for about 5 weeks of the year 2) People LIKE Christmas songs, the average Joe would be happy to see them in the charts 3) What counts as a Christmas song? Does it have to reference Christmas? What counts as a reference to Christmas? is East 17 actually a Christmas song? It's too much of a grey area I personally don't mind it at all!

December 16, 20177 yr I quite like listening to the chart when there’s Christmas songs present too. It’s nice to hear Christmas songs mixed in with regular chart stuff - listening to a Christmas song-only chart would get way too dreary way too fast (although I’d never get tired of the holy trinity of Christmas songs: The Pogues, Mariah, Wham!). The only time that a Christmas chart invasion would annoy me is when it stops a song completely from entering the Top 40, denying a good song of a high peak (for instance this week with G-Eazy & Halsey missing out on #40 due to Christmas. Unless it takes off which I think is unlikely unfortunately, Him & I won’t make it higher this time of the year :(
December 16, 20177 yr I'm perfectly happy to see all these Christmas songs in the Top 40. I think non-massive artists will just have to get used to the fact that they can't release around the Christmas period.

November 30, 20186 yr well it seems these days Q4 is so dead that there aren't any songs missing the top 40 due to the takeover of Christmas songs, looking at that long list from last year all of those were top 40 hits. Tom Walker is no big loss from the top 40 this week anyhow.

December 7, 20186 yr Omg at The 1975 missing out a top 40 hit, they don't come along often for bands like that. Guess they'll have to put up with the no1 album!
December 7, 20186 yr Did Shotgun still increase on sales thanks to X Factor effect despite dropping out of Top 40?

December 7, 20186 yr This time last year, we had 6 Xmas songs in the chart despite some being on SCR whereas this week, we have 8 Xmas songs in the chart when they're all on ACR Really worried that it will prompt the OCC to eventually remove old Xmas songs from the chart entirely.
December 7, 20186 yr This time last year, we had 6 Xmas songs in the chart despite some being on SCR whereas this week, we have 8 Xmas songs in the chart when they're all on ACR It's worth considering that this year's chart is on 7th December and the chart you're using from last year was 1st December. The chart for this time last year tomorrow would have 24 songs in the chart!
December 7, 20186 yr Well, they have had 3 songs in the top 40 this year! :P Yeh but not massive long runners just in and out for most. Plus it was this songs best chance!!
