It seems the song was finished in 2016 , it's mentioned in his book Reveal , Guy had visited & they had looked at four completed songs at the time one of which was Best Intentions . The lyrics say a huge amount about how he was feeling at the time .

It also mentions what is described as a manic disco-funk song called Wicked Wonderchick , I wonder if it will ever see the light of day ! .

Quiet an interesting overall review of Rudebox ..

I review this underrated and often overlooked album where Robbie Williams experiments with Electronica

Obviously his non-understanding of the French word Plus stands out :P

Beautiful song

How handsome does he look here

I remember him saying that he was not really sure why he was there in the first place ..

This was good -never seen it before - that girl is so beautiful

Yep, they had a bit of chemistry going on there for sure :P

Always liked this song but never understood the clear meaning of this.

I mean who could be this person?...

The year before I thought of leaving.

I can't remember what I did

Us in bed in Maida Vale basements,

When you left...

What's your opinion?

Unfortunately Rob has never talked about Meet The Stars, not even during chats...

I like that song , written by Robbie & Stephen. To me it talks about fame ( fame not actually being a person ) & how different people handled it, including himself. Laura may be better at explaining it, she usually has a good feel for these things

Full lyrics below:

MEET THE STARS

The year before I thought of leaving

I cant remember what I did

Us in bed in Maida Vale basements

When you left

Westend winters

High heel clatters

Morning dawning

Nothing matters

When we took a cab

Back when cabs had somewhere to go

And we'd meet the stars

When stars were people you'd want to know

We were new to fame

Woaooh oh oh oh

I'm so glad you came

Some of us fell by the wayside

Others had it and threw it away

Some carried on pretending

That it was not ending today

Once admired

Oh so tired

Lose it all

In the night time

And we took a cab

Back when cabs had somewhere to go

And we'd meet the stars

When stars were people you'd want to know

We were new to fame

I'm so glad I came

It took me years to find my own song

And for years I thought I'd just sing along

But the words were wrong

A tune that is true lives on and on

It will still be here when I'm gone

And we took a cab

Back when cabs had somewhere to go

And we'd meet the stars

When stars were people you'd want to know

We were new to fame

Wo oho hoh

I'm so glad we came

And we'd take a cab

Back when cabs had somewhere to go

And we'd meet the stars

When stars were people you'd want to know

We were new to fame

Wo oho hoh

I'm so glad I came

Oh gosh I've always taken that song very literally and thought he was telling a story of a real girlfriend that he realised he didn't love.

I've guessed he's talking early days so somewhere around 97/98????

No idea which one but great lyrics though

Dont' you think in that verse he was talking about his leaving TT & going solo & doing his own songs & being true to himself .

Now that is my interpretation & I could be totally wrong but that's the beauty of lyric is it not , figuring out what they mean unless you are told otherwise by the writer :P

Yes I think so -finding his feet and his true self.
