July 27, 20187 yr Fantastic song and ahead of its time (I do think 'How Soon is Now' sounds more 90s than 80s).
July 27, 20187 yr Author 383. The Life Of Riley - Lightning Seeds (1992) Cradles and sleepless nights, you're breathing life forever Then you stare at the world from deep in your eider-down An excellent pop song from the Lightning Seeds, written by Ian Broudie about his son Riley. The instrumental version has often been used on Match Of The Day for their Goal Of The Month segment. Kl2_hJ0DXDw

If The World Ends - Guillemots (2006) If the world ends It won't finish you You're not the type they can capture You flit like a fly catcher Another song from the fabulous 'Through The Windowpane' album. A great vocal from Fyfe Dangerfield and a haunting backing track. HSo1yr9aHpM
July 27, 20187 yr 383. The Life Of Riley - Lightning Seeds (1992) TUNE. Yes, the MoTD 'Goal of the Month' feature is what this instantly reminds me of - and of course they became closely involved with one of English football's most synonymous songs.

Walking In My Shoes - Depeche Mode (1993) Now I'm not looking for absolution Forgiveness for the things I do But before you come to any conclusions Try walking in my shoes From 'Songs Of Faith And Devotion'. I like the multi layered production and Martin Gore's guitar playing. It has a sort of synthrock/trip hop sound to it. GrC_yuzO-Ss
July 27, 20187 yr That is another good Depeche Mode song. Generally I prefer their 80s stuff but they have some good 90s and later stuff too! Depeche Mode must be one of the most featured artists in your top 1000!
July 27, 20187 yr Author Depeche Mode have a great back catalogue. I will be listing the number of songs by each act at the end.
July 28, 20187 yr Author 380. Entangled - Genesis (1976) Madrigal music is playing Voices can faintly be heard Please leave this patient undisturbed A track from 'A Trick Of The Tail' about a trip to hospital written by Steve Hackett and Tony Banks. There are no drums,it's all about the guitar arrangement. This is the song I mentioned inspired 'Newborn' by Elbow (number 453). fJ6Xj202aBU
July 28, 20187 yr Author 379. See My Baby Jive - Wizzard (1973) That tenor horn is turning me on He's dropped down to his knees Oh boy that sax is calling me back This dog ain't got no fleas After just one album with ELO,Roy Wood left to form a new group, taking their keyboard player and one of their cellists with him. Wizzard are best known for 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day' but before that they had two number 1 singles, including this one. It's a great fun piece of glam rock with a big production. I don't know how the guitarist here came up with the idea of cricket pads, roller skates and angel wings. Wizzard only lasted three years. rQ_rQSBJ4v8
July 28, 20187 yr 'See My Baby Jive' is brilliant. I was looking at a site that reviewed every UK number 1 from the start of the charts until 2006 and the person reviewing it said for its entry it was overproduced, had too much going on in it but I disagree. Needs someone to sample it in a modern song tbh or a dance remix to be made of it to bring it back into popularity. Edited July 28, 20187 yr by The Snake
July 28, 20187 yr Author 378. A Love So Beautiful - Roy Orbison (1989) The summer sun looked down On our love long ago But in my heart I feel The same old afterglow From Roy Orbison's album 'Mystery Girl' which reached the top 5 on the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic. He sadly died a month before it was released. This is a gorgeous 60s style ballad co-written with his fellow Wilbury and long time fan,Jeff Lynne. LrbctEUkfcA

I prefer it to the Christmas song.
July 28, 20187 yr Yes,it would be a great party anthem or wedding reception tune. I prefer it to the Christmas song. In the absence of dance music in the early 70s (disco didn't become really popular until about 1976-ish), I do assume 'See My Baby Jive' would have been one of the party anthems of choice back then, along with the likes of Slade, The Sweet and Status Quo's singles of course too! The production is quite similar though in style to the Christmas song in question! Edited July 28, 20187 yr by The Snake
July 28, 20187 yr Author 377. Afraid Of Sunlight - Marillion (1995) Don't be surprised when daylight comes To find that memory prick your thumbs The title track from Marillion's eighth album, the last one before they got dropped by EMI. H's vocal here is one of his best and the song is still a favourite amongst the Marillion fanbase. grESdO2ruXU
July 29, 20187 yr Author 376. The Miracle - Queen (1989) Super powers always fighting But Mona Lisa just keeps on smiling The fifth single from the album of the same name, the first time that many tracks from a Queen album had been released as singles. The video is memorable for four boys impersonating the group. Young Freddie Mercury is now a fairly well known actor,Ross McCall, while young Brian May has been a manager at Legoland. I particularly like the coda in the last thirty seconds of the song. 2DaY8-Mui0I
July 29, 20187 yr Author 375. Let Forever Be - The Chemical Brothers (1999) How does it feel like To spend a little lifetime sitting in the gutter? Featuring Noel Gallagher on vocals, this was the Chemical Brothers' fourth top 10 single. As with many of their singles,it has a brilliant video and it's difficult to decide what my favourite Chemical Brothers video would be. s5FyfQDO5g0
July 29, 20187 yr Author 374. Equinoxe Part 7 - Jean Michel Jarre (1978) Another track from the godfather of electronica. This is from his fourth album, the follow-up to Oxygene. As his first two albums hardly sold a copy,Oxygene is often regarded as his first album and Equinoxe the second. IuJ50xs2rWU
July 29, 20187 yr Author 373. Real Love - Yes (1994) Far away,in the depths of Hawking's mind To the animal, primalistic grind You bring me reason,a simple fact of life Another track from the 'Talk' album. There is a heavy guitar sound from Trevor Rabin here,he certainly has a different style to Steve Howe. 3-pO368vJ_g
July 30, 20187 yr Author 372. Last Train To Trancentral - KLF featuring The Children Of The Revolution (1991) KLF were popular for a short while with their unique brand of stadium house. This is the third of five consecutive top five singles for them. It got to number 2,kept off the top of the chart by Cher's 'Shoop Shoop Song'. frIUgilfsWA
July 30, 20187 yr This is my favourite KLF song! :music: Great euphoric sounding dance tune! It may not be trance despite the name, but indeed sounds like a precursor to trance music with its buildups and background synths! Edited July 30, 20187 yr by The Snake
