September 3, 20187 yr Author Bodyguard continues to hold its audience with 6.65m viewers tuning in, compared to 3.04m tuning in for Vanity Fair on ITV. X Factor dips under 5m with 4.99m. Last year, the second episode, also airing on a Sunday, managed to improve on its launch (6.19m vs. 6.51m). BBC 1 19:00 Countryfile - 4.57m (26.5%) 20:00 Fake or Fortune - 4.08m (19.9%) 21:00 Bodyguard - 6.65m (32.6%) ITV (inc. +1) 20:00 The X Factor - 4.99m (24.3%) 21:00 Vanity Fair - 3.04m (14.9%) 22:05 The Imitation Game - 1.26m (9.1%)
September 3, 20187 yr It was against very tough competition with Fake or Fortune? The target audiences just completely overlap! Also, are these ratings lower than The Voice UK?
September 3, 20187 yr I actually think its demographic is now older people, not the younger tv bracket. It will be a problem for it when Strictly comes back and they havr to choose!
September 3, 20187 yr Author Also, are these ratings lower than The Voice UK? The first two audition episodes of The Voice UK from the recent series both rated 5.6m. I think The Voice UK and X Factor are at similar levels ratings wise. The last series of X Factor rated 5.25m on average whilst The Voice UK averaged 5.15m. The Voice UK is much more consistent throughout though and the last series increased on the one before it; X Factor can't say the same. -x- The first episode of Bodyguard has an official BARB rating of 10.4m! :o An increase of 3.7m! That replaces Call the Midwife for highest drama rating of the year and places it 4th on the most watched programmes of the year.
September 3, 20187 yr Amazing consolidated figure for Bodyguard!! Should pass 11m in the 28 day ratings too *.*

Not interested in the Stuart storyline but something needed to happen to bring viewers in. Another great rating for Bake Off, slightly under the second episode of the last series again but I can see ratings following closely to the last series anyway.
September 5, 20187 yr Author Channel 4 Press: The first episode of series two of #GBBO consolidated to 9.2m, attracting a 65% share (2.7m) of 16-34s the biggest ever for any episode of #GBBO on @Channel4

September 7, 20187 yr Shame EastEnders didn't stay about 5m Another three drama flops to add to the list and we're only one week into the Autumn schedule :s Vanity Fair the most surprising for me, but I think ITV didn't do themselves any favours by letting Bodyguard establish itself with a 2 episode head start!
September 8, 20187 yr Shame EastEnders didn't stay about 5m Another three drama flops to add to the list and we're only one week into the Autumn schedule :s Vanity Fair the most surprising for me, but I think ITV didn't do themselves any favours by letting Bodyguard establish itself with a 2 episode head start! I suppose it's not a bad rating, they've had much worse recently. All these flops though :o

Not surprised as the line-up is the least inspiring for a long time. The X Factor doing really poorly. Even last year the auditions were regularly getting 6m.
