Di Matteo to take over for the rest of the season...

Complete non-shock, worst run football club in the country (bar maybe Pompey), Abramovic is pathetic.

What's worse is they could get Capello or Benitez for no compensation costs. Sticking with Di Matteo means that you know they want the "special one" in the summer.

Success doesn't come over night. Man City didn't become the team they are over a season, it took them at least two. That's one problem with modern day football though, greed for success and no patience.

Capello is right out of the archaic Scolari school of management that put them in such a mess before. If Di Matteo is confirmed for the rest of the season it's a pretty clear indicator Abramovich doesn't want Benitez either.

Word going round that Benitez was approached by Abramovich to take over until the end of the season and review the situation then, to which Benitez refused. I can't see him getting the job in the summer either. They are obsessed with Maureen. The board, the fans, the players. He will go back there for 2/3 seasons then probably retire, or take up the Portugease job.

I have an idea to save portsmouth fc.

They should sign loads of kids on non-contractual aggreements to play remainder of season. When i say kids i mean 14, 15, 16 year olds. This would work as they wouldnt have to pay wages. I am 14 and live near bristol and am a bristol city fan but if they gave me a chance to play for portsmouth, i would say yes half way down the motorway.

Tranmere appoint Ronnie Moore to replace Parry.

Pitman sacked at Hereford, they seem to be consistently fighting relegation down there. Time for a change, the home performances weren't very good.

Interesting couple of days for the lower leagues, two former physios sacked and one replacement already in. Another to be announced later today.

Men against boys though. They wouldn't get a single point.

true but some kids could at least provide competition and fill in the gaps

Possibly, but you have to look at it from over views aswell. A lot of teenagers are not physically developed, or mentally developed for battles, and the reaction from the fans. It's a good idea, but it would never work. They would be better getting volunteers, or retired ex-pros who keep in shape.

Speaking of youth team players though the age group 14-17 is the new 18-21 for clubs to be buying. You're going to see lots more clubs taking punts on the younger players because of the extortinate prices for later teenagers. £10m for Wickham, £12m Henderson, however much Arsenal paid for Oxlaide-Chamberlain ..I mean Birmingham are wanting £10-15m for Redmond. Madness.

Good point. also the insurance would be through the roof. nice if it did happen but doubt it will. your right aswell as down are place we have seen a few more academy players being tried like james wilson, bobby reid, christian ribiero etc, looks like they all have the view of why spend loads on a player that is a few years off of retirement when you could invest in the future. -_-

Oh Glen Johnson you foolish man.. Roger Johnson as well! I hope Adam, Andy and Michael are not up to anything!

What!? Glen Johnson was right to say what he did. I want the whole issue to be put to rest, but the abuse he is recieving is off the mark. I thought he was always going to speak out eventually because he was bullied by the media, especially with the t-shirt issue. Being called an Uncle Tom is about as racist as it gets

He's a bit of an idiot for bringing it up now though, it's now all died down and now he's made it in the news again when it shouldn't be. Right or wrong, it's very very foolish.

He didn't bring it up though! It was part of a promotion interview. Perhaps he should have just 'no comment', but the guy who he did the interview with is very good at twisting people's words. If he didn't say anything the media would have used it as a sign of guilt. Ladyman (who wrote the article) says that Suarez called Evra a negrito. Just goes to show doesn't it.

West ham to win championship with southampton 2nd and leeds win play-offs. doncaster, portsmouth and coventry to be relegated. watch this space.

Chelsea really are a farce, I can't believe for one second Guardiola would even consider the job. I suppose Abramovich thinks he'd bring Messi along for the ride? Podolski to Arsenal is very promising, he has a fantastic left boot and isn't afraid to shoot from distance, and he has bags of experience with 95 (!!!) caps at the age of only 26. Him and RVP could work well together.

Dawson out injured long-term could also affect Spurs, I agree with Szczesny I actually think they could finish 5th if they are not careful.
