What a fucking brilliant playoff final. These last two years have really turned the playoffs from cagey affairs into exciting, fast paced matches.

And look at the positives, with Swansea promoted to the Premier League, Liverpool can finally fulfill their dream of playing in Europe next season :D

Play-offs are always exciting. I'm pleased for Swansea because they are a great side and do deserve it. The Englishman in me would've prefered Reading to go up, however the Forest fan in me is pleased it was Swansea.
What were the odds? I used my Will Hill free bet on Reading pre-match.

Got 65/1 for the draw and 102/1 for the win on Betfair at one point. Btw has anyone heared of Betclick? They're offering a £20 free bet and a 3 month premium spotify account for free if you stake £20.

The M1 must have been busy today :D

To nobody's surprise Paul Scholes has announced his retirement. A great little player, it's a shame he retired from international football when he did.

Get your facts straight please :)

Pictures are too easily manipulated for me to take either of those images seriously. But LOL at Nicky owning Rooney all the same.

lol in all seriousness they were expecting 150,000, and not even half of that amount turned up.

No surprise Scholes has retired. Very good player, An almighty twat, but a good player.

The lowest figure I've seen is 100,000 from The Guardian  Every other place said around 150,000. I don't see exactly where people are gonna stand in your United picture anyway.

^Because it was a tour of the city :P What good is a tour bus going round the city if there's nobody actually there. I bet the escorts had a brilliant time though!

I can't find the article on the support. It was a good turnout, but you would have expected there to be a parade since Man Utd have just become the club with the most league title wins...

From the Manchester Evening News

About 1,500 people from Manchester and Salford took part in the Whit Walks after the start was delayed owing to United’s parade along Deansgate."

"Anticipated crowds of up to 150,000 failed to materialise as driving rain coupled with the Reds’ loss to Barcelona in Saturday's Champions League final hit numbers.

No arrests were made – and supporters were praised by Assistant Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, who oversaw the police operation from GMP’s Sedgley Park command centre.

He said: "We were really pleased with how it went. There were no arrests and everyone behaved incredibly well. Although the numbers were considerably less than we expected it’s testimony to the fans that they have turned out in their thousands on what has been a pretty miserable, wet day in Manchester."

Police were reluctant to release a figure of those who attended the United parade, describing it as ‘in the tens of thousands’.

and The Mirror

Manchester United paraded their Premier League trophy through rain-soaked Manchester today - and were stung by claims of a low turnout.

Appalling weather conditions and the fall-out from Saturday's Champions League defeat by Barcelona meant many supporters stayed away.

The crowds were nothing like the estimated 1million who welcomed treble winners United home to Manchester in 1999 - and looked to have been beaten by the 50,000-plus who packed the streets to hail Manchester City's FA Cup parade a week earlier.

Although police had staffed up for a 150,000-strong crowd, some attendees put the numbers at around 25,000, with most in the Old Trafford area. Others claimed 40,000 had showed up, despite the adverse weather.

:P dont know what the Guardian writers must have been smoking! probably still in shock from the weekend!!

LOL at a comment from a Fulham fan read out on Sky Sports News.. "I hope Mark Hughes does as well at Aston Villa as Hodgson did at Liverpool"

As a Brighton fan I know how they feel. We have lost several good managers (Steve Coppell, Peter Taylor etc.) because they have been poached by bigger clubs. I've never blamed the managers. They have just as much right to do what they think is best for their career as you and I.

Fixtures released. Liverpool away on the opening day followed by the derby at home. Two football clubs I can't stand, it's shaping up to be a good season.
