Kylie Minogue scored her 50th Top 40 hit - a total surpassed among female recording artists only by Madonna (68) and Diana Ross (66, including 21 with The Supremes) - last month with the belated No.38 peak of 2000 b-side, Santa Baby. It looked like hit No.51 was in the bag when Dance - the first single from the 49 year old Australian's upcoming 14th studio album Golden- topped the first of the week's sales flashes on Saturday. But it fell rapidly as the week progressed and failed to make it in the end, debuting at No.47 (8,201 sales).

I don't think it was posted before but, as well as being A-listed on Radio 2, 'Dancing' is also there Record of the Week. Don't know if that means it gets extra plays on top of the A-list plays, but it means extra attention put on the song which can only be a good thing.

Thanks! Well I'm not holding out for the Brits so I'll guess she's bagged a slot on The Voice or Dancing On Ice. Kylie may not be relevant as far as the charts are concerned but she's still a big and respected name within the music industry and can get those key promo slots. See Madonna and Britney too.

 

'Dancing' reached #46 in Australia. I thought she'd be safe for Top 40 to be honest.

The voice isn't live for a while yet so won't be that yet.

Pretty sure she will go to Brits so any promo of the song for those would be good though not a live performance in this day and age.

She's not guaranteed to get any big shots anymore though. She won't be considered big draw for most of these shows.

Radio promo might be more effective than these TV shows tbh. What she needs is playlists exposure and more radio airplay and she could rise organically. I think this song could do better than we think. 1.75M streams in 8 days isn't too bad for her. I think she got 350k streams yesterday since on yesterday's update she was at 1.396M streams so that was one of the biggest updates so far. Go Kylie!

She is a big draw on tv still. Dad's love her, gays love her, longevity and well liked. TV bosses love her.

But they are not the big draw for most of these shows. They want young people and the majoriy of them aren't interested in Kylie anymore.
