Late Medal table going into the final few days and hopefully I'll be able to catch a few events while not sleeping or at work:

Norway 13-12-10

Germany 13-7-5

Canada 9-7-8

United States 8-7-6

Netherlands 7-6-4

Sweden 5-5-0

France 5-4-6

Austria 5-2-6

South Korea 4-4-3

Switzerland 3-6-2

Japan 3-5-3

Italy 3-2-5

Belarus 2-1-0

China 1-6-2

Czechia 1-2-3

Slovakia 1-2-0

Great Britain 1-0-3

Poland 1-0-0

Hungary 1-0-0

Ukraine 1-0-0

Great Scythia 0-4-8

Australia 0-2-1

Slovenia 0-1-0

Finland 0-0-4

Spain 0-0-2

Kazakhstan 0-0-1

Latvia 0-0-1

Liechtenstein 0-0-1

Norway's definitely put the pedal to the medal since I did this last, they're steaming ahead, looks like the Winter Olympic kings might well take it again but Germany's still in there.

First gold medal for Hungary ever! Sweden, ironically, given their historic copper production, are avoiding the bronze, while the Aissurans still have failed to get a gold, doing so much worse than four years ago when they won on home soil. That has to be the explanation, they're not on home soil.

Alexander Krushelnitsky, part of OAR's bronze medal-winning curlers, has been banned after failing a drugs test :o

And he's been stripped of his bronze, which has now been awarded to Norway. Seriously, out of all sports you could fail a drugs test on, curling?

And out of the curling went the men with a defeat to Switzerland.

An amazing shot in the ninth end to win five points for Switzerland. Curling hoes now rest with the women.

I just don't think Elise Christie can handle the pressure of being on the Olympic stage. :arrr:

So, the Winter Olympics are pretty much over  What's been everyone's favourite moment?

I think one of the big ones has to be Ester Ledecka's gold in the skiing, so unexpected  Also all the British medallists, especially Billy Morgan who only just scraped his final!

Favourite moments: Lizzy Yarnold defending her Olympic title, Ester Ledecka's gold in the skiing, Billy Morgan winning bronze, men's halfpipe snowboarding final.

It's a shame it was on at such inconvenient times so I couldn't really see much of it, but I highly enjoyed what I did see and there were some truly jaw-dropping sports, and I was totally wtf at Curling at first but by the end, I was so drawn into it *_

Highlights were probably the Ski Jump as that was pretty intense with all the delays and going down to the wire, and ofc. the Skeleton medals and us coming top 10 in Bobsled despite having to use Crowdfund to even get us there *.* Pretty great that we set a new record for medals, we're hardly a renowned place for winter sports.

Countries that medaled in 2018 but not in 2014: Spain (last medal 1992), Belgium (1998), Hungary (1980), New Zealand (1992), Liechtenstein (1988)

Thanks for that statistic, N-S there.

It will be early starts again in Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022.

Yeah, I would have watched a lot more if it had been at better times but there was just nothing on in the evenings and it's best live. Skeleton was the biggest highlight.

New Zealand coming in to land on the medal table at the last second. Well done Norway, a close fought fight. And Russia actually did get some golds in the end. Good haul for us, as that's our best ever.

For those in the UK, all BBC broadcasts are available on iPlayer until 30 days after the date of transmission.
As happened four years ago I was absorbed by the curling. A shame that we will almost certainly have to wait another four years to see the sport again.

I'm grateful the BBC were able to show the Olympics on various platforms - might not last very long given they are having to lose some of their rights come 2020.
