- Call Me By Your Name -
- It -
- Thor: Ragnarok -
- Wonder -
- Wonder Woman -

Not too many surprises here! CMBYN continues to pick up nominations everywhere, horror adaptation It did fantastically covering the first part of the +1000 page book, we have a DC and a Marvel superhero film make it as Wonder Woman (its first nomination tonight I think) and Thor turn up and surprise success Wonder also scores a deserving nom <3

Next up is action film, who's made it?

BEST ACTION FILM

- Baby Driver -
- Power Rangers -
- Spider Man: Homecoming -
- Thor: Ragnarok -
- Wonder Woman -

Quite a few surprising noms here, I'm surprised the likes of Logan, Guardians 2 and especially Star Wars 8 didn't make it in here and Oscar faves such as Get Out and Call Me By Your Name (don't even ask.) also received support but couldn't crack the top 5. This is a really good line up though. Wonder Woman is the best superhero films in ages, Baby Driver is incredible and I'm so glad it made it into this category and Power Rangers was really underrated and is deserving of a nomination <3 I've not seen Thor and in my opinion, there's definitely better actions film than Spider Man: Homecoming from this year.

Next up is sci-fi/thrilelr film, who's made it?

La La Land

The other noms aren't too surprising, however, CMBYN an action film? Really Buzzjack? Haha. YYYYAAASSSSS for Power Rangers

BEST SCI-FI/THRILLER FILM

- Blade Runner 2049 -
- Get Out -
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 -
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi -
- Wonder Woman -

This and action usually have a lot in common so its surprising to see the categories only share one nomination (Wonder Woman) in common this year. Big franchise hitters The Last Jedi & Guardians Vol. 2 both make it in here whilst acclaimed sci-fi Blade Runner 2049 and thriller Get Out also manage to score nominations here *.* I'm gutted Life didn't make it in here considering how close it was and I would have also liked Happy Death Day & Valerian to get more notice here than they did!

Next up is visual effects, who's made it?
Life should be in that category over Get Out! :arrr:

- Beauty & The Beast -
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 -
- Spider-Man: Homecoming -
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi -
- Thor: Ragnarok -
- Wonder Woman -

Typical Buzzjack visual effects lists as 4 of the big superhero movies from last year make it alongside Star Wars and a Disney adaptation! No surprises here and I'm not gonna complain about any of these  Though once again, I really wish Valerian got nominated here, its visual effects were stunning.

Next up is our third best picture nomination, who is it?!

Guardians or Wonder Woman for Best Pic #3? I'll go with the latter.

Blade Runner deserved a nom for that category though. Surprised it didn't make it tbh!

BEST PICTURE: NOMINEE #3
QK53oX3.png

Our third Best Picture nominee is the 780th Spider-Man Reboot. Bleh. This wasn't bad but it would definitely be near the end of my 2017 film ranking. Meh. Though this line-up always has about a million superhero films so I'm not too shocked

We will be doing the same thing as last year with two people submitting write-ups for each of the best picture nominations which will be posted during the final results presentation! You can do as many as you want as long as two people haven't taken them! You can either post if you want to write up a film now or if there's still spaces when the voting thread goes up, you can claim the space then!

Spider Man: Homecoming Write-Ups: ? and ?

Best Picture Nominees 2017:
1) Thor: Ragnarok
2) La La Land
3) Spider Man: Homecoming

So close but it was the other superhero movie that's announced 3rd

Agreed, I was definitely expecting that to make the visual effects category.

BEST HORROR FILM

- Get Out -
- Happy Death Day -
- It -
- mother! -
- Split -

2017 was another killer year for horror movies *.* Four of these 5 nominations also ended up in either box office surprise or disaster  Get Out continues a very successful evening as it scores its 2nd category nomination, It smashed horror records worldwide and deservingly earns a nomination here, the incredibly divisive mother! (which I'm hopefully gonna finally watch tomorrow) has enough fans here to crack the final 5, M. Night Shylaman's renaissance continued with Split and Happy Death Day was a fun blast of a horror flick so I'm delighted that made it!

Films that just missed out included the 800th Alien film, critically acclaimed Raw and The Belko Experiment. I'm shocked Annabelle: Creation only got one nomination, I thought that was going to be in contention for a nomination easily here :o

Next up is comedy film, what's made it?!

Hugh Jackman and Jessica look WAY out of place

Most attractive?? Really Buzzjack? Wow

SHITTY THOR and crappy superhero movies get best picture, but Beauty and the Beast doesn't?? gawwwwww!!!!

BEST COMEDY FILM

- Girls Trip -
- Kingsman 2 -
- La La Land -
- Pitch Perfect 3 -
- The Big Sick -

Such an incredible line-up *.* Three films pick up their first nominations here tonight as well! Girls Trip is absolutely hilarious and is easily one of the best comedies of 2017, La La Land is fab and has some fabulous comedy moments (I Ran>>>>>>anything else), The Big Sick is incredible and I'm really shocked/glad it made it in here and despite missing the action category, Kingsman 2 gets a nom here. Also making it is Pitch Perfect 3 which I still haven't seen yet oops.

Films that just missed out included Jack's fave A Bad Moms Christmas, already nominated in other genre categories Baby Driver/Guardians 2/Happy Death Day and The Disaster Artist. Films such as Alien: Covenant, It and Daddy's Home 2 also picked up nominations in this category.

Next up is drama film, what's made it?!

Boo It and Happy Death Day didn't make it for best comedy film :(

It was awful, but had some cheap laughs at least - like that flopping rubber arm we were all supposed to believe was real
