October 9, 20177 yr Looks like we’re going to be seeing 10 episodes next series (instead of 12/13) but they’ll be 1 hour in length (rather than 45 mins)! :o Hopefully this can improve on the rushed endings that can often be a problem but not here for less episodes whatever the case :kink:
October 9, 20177 yr Whilst I'm glad we'll have longer episodes, I don't think it should be at the expense of another 2 episodes!
October 9, 20177 yr I think 10 episodes is fine, especially if every single one will be a full hour. I can't think of (m)any other UK TV programmes that have more than six episodes per series?!
October 9, 20177 yr I get that but considering we don't even get one series per year now, they're getting a bit stingy with their commissions!
October 9, 20177 yr If the shortened series improves the overall quality (and let's face it there's too many filler episodes usually) then I'm all for it
October 9, 20177 yr But what if the filler episodes are still there, so we get less good, solid episodes. Some of the best episodes (aka Midnight, Blink) have kind of come about due to needing that extra episode and I would happily suffer through a Love & Monsters if we get them! I’m kind of hoping they move it to Sunday nights too, maybe at 8pm. The hour slot will help it fit in the schedule. It’s return may have helped bring back Saturday night TV in 2005 but it’s not going to respark again now and the show is becoming lost in the fact that no other dramas air on Saturday nights apart from the mainstay of Casualty.
October 9, 20177 yr I'd take 10 strong hour-long episodes over 12/13 shorter episodes if it means the overall quality improves. Doctor Who has far too many naff episodes and hopefully this coincides with a bit of quality control.

Actually I think moving it from Saturdays would be a good move and it doesn't get much better than Sunday in the prime 8pm slot! Unfortunately the BBC rarely make brave or unexpected scheduling decisions so it will probably remain Saturdays until whenever it gets cancelled.

That last series could have done without that awful wooden house one or that nonsensical one in Scotland. Midnight was crap, btw.

October 22, 20177 yr Author Doctor Who Official @bbcdoctorwho 17m17 minutes ago Meet the 13th Doctor's new friends! Yasmin (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole), and Graham (Bradley Walsh) #DoctorWho !! omg at Bradley Walsh actually being true
October 22, 20177 yr I honestly don't know how I feel about Bradley Walsh actually being a companion lol. Hopefully I am pleasantly surprised, but I'm hoping he's more of a backseat companion. Interested to see what both Yasmin and Ryan are like!
October 22, 20177 yr I mean...at least he’s not the sole companion I guess? Not sure about having THREE companions, meaning the audience has the adjust/warm to four main characters all in one go. Maybe Bradley is just the father figure though who stays at home? All signs are pointing to this being a very different show to what we’ve had for the past 10 series so I’m starting to become very nervous.
October 22, 20177 yr Also confirmed that there will only be 10 episodes for series 11, all 50 minutes each!
October 22, 20177 yr Author Sharon D Clarke also cast as a "returning character" apparently, interesting ~
October 22, 20177 yr Oh the 10 episodes are going to be 50 minutes long, with the first episode being 1 hour. Shooting starts tomorrow and it will air in the Autumn next year. So, we are getting less of the show and they’re moving it back to the timeslot where it gets dwarfed by reality TV, IF it stays on Saturday which it most likely will.
October 22, 20177 yr Really not sure with three companions or Bradley Walsh (), hopefully they're not all travelling at the same time as it'll get a bit 'too many cooks' in that case.
October 23, 20177 yr I'm not confident about the casting of Bradley Walsh but I'm confident they have a good reason for casting him and for three companions so I'll be patient and wait and keep my fingers crossed.
