Again, I hate the sexism arguments. How come Madonna was having huge no.1s into her late 40s? How come Robbie Williams can’t get a hit in his 40s? It’s people choosing facts to support their argument rather than forming it from using all evidence.

Kylie isn’t connecting with the youth. She did for such a long time but nothing lasts forever. Even Pink, Who has shown amazing consistency through her career, isn’t catching on with the streaming audience despite the fact that she’s still being pushed for them on Radio.

They are not catching on because radio don't play and streaming is completely biased and a mess. It should be about 5000 streams per sale ratio. Silly I can just sit in a car and listen to a playlist of songs soemone has put together and it counts for a official singles chart.

Last year Kylie sold 100% song at 9.99 on Vinyl yet that sale counts the same as 150 streams on Spotify? Ludicrous to be honest.

Why have we had a whole Ed Sheeran album charting in singles chart

That’s the issue with streaming, it leaves the chart only representing a minority of the public in a major way. But there’s literally no point complaining about it because there’s no way we can go back now. Even if we did revert to a sales only chart, people would still call out inaccuracy because lots of people stream.

I wouldn’t let it bother you. Kylie will be putting out pleny of music for years to come. As long as you enjoy it, it shouldn’t matter if she doesn’t get high peaks. She has her market.

I ain't worried. But this Irrelevant thing is just not true..... It's the manipulation......

Kylie up to 12th. Ant and Dec airs again at 1pm so we could see at a big push be top 10 on iTunes again today and combined top 8? Will need to keep momentum though.

Rudimental playing live with Jess on Sunday Brunch soon so they may well topple Timberlake at the top of iTunes chart

Let's just Agree that Kylie isn't irrelevant but her audience is more the older generation and her long time fans rather than teenagers and students. She's still doing well considering.
I just think they need to make ACR increase the stream ratio for a chart sale quicker than they do. Will at least allow people like Kylie a bit more exposure.

I always have thought they should apply the SAVE ON THE LIBRARY method.

I mean if radio play a song a lot..does not mean all the people that listen will buy that song.

So it should be on streaming..where basically the playlists are like the radios...but only if you save the song on your library or your own playlist it counts as a sale (or every 10 saves count like a sale)

2010 I like a song, I buy it

2018 I like a song, I save it on my streaming library

That will just open it up for easy chart manipulation ie boyband fans saving en masse in week one without making the effort to actually stream it. At least back in the day they had to actually part with cash to get their boyband an inflated first week chart position.

I mean you can only save once...it's like back in the days with itunes everyone that had a fanbase bought on day one..and push the song high on itunes for a few hours

We just need to accept what is. I don’t like the charts anymore but I’m over it.

The word manipulation is a harsh word. It seems to get rolled out in these boards too often as an excuse for why someone a poster doesn’t like is doing well and why their faves aren’t.

In order to chart highly, you basically have to target teenagers. I teach teenagers on a daily basis. I’ve heard Dancing. The majority of today’s teenagers won’t go for it and that’s why it doesn’t get airplay or appear on Spotify playlists. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad song and as long as it’s doing well with her demographic, i don’t see the harm.

Honestly, when Kylie was doing shit in 1997, was it because of chart manipulation?

Agreed and with Kylie now getting the majority of plays on the likes of Heart of Radio 2 it probably means her album will sell more!

If streaming is being so heavily counted into the chart then radio airplay and Youtube streams should also be added, only fair , the charts will be more accurate and diverse then...

The difference is that madonna's last big hits were in 2005-2007 when Cd singles still sold loads, and therefore there was a lot of older acts scoring big hits. u cannot compAre that era to now. Its a totally different story now.

Kylie sold about 1.8k in last 24 hours of Dancing . 1.5k of them the 59p version. Rudimental sold 5.5k, Justin T 5.1k.

Looks like Kylie may get a third week in top 100 official chart next Friday but let's see
