Not long now! I’d say we should have it within the next 2 weeks or so!

We will have the NOW 102 track list no later than Friday 29th March which is 23 days away. I think the first 3 tracks will be SYL, 7R and SBP

  • 2 weeks later...
Hadji are you sure that’s what you want? There’s 74 seconds of unused disc space there...
Tracklist for this should be coming soon shouldn’t it?

No later than next Friday

I know it’s not NOW related but I’m wondering if their rivals the Hits are trying to make a comeback? I just seen on amazon an album titled The Hits Album: The 80s Album and The Hits Album: The 70s Pop Album which are in the same style of writing as before and both are being released on 12th April, the same day as NOW 102. If Hits wanna make a comeback, then they should re-release Hits 1-6 on double CD

Ignoring the oldies it's the strongest tracklisting for a numbered Now for ages! Really happy with that. :) Better late than never with TGS tracks.

Six tracks from NOW 2 when they're re-releasing that on CD as well?

Looks like they're really caving into the adult contemporary market especially with that disc 2 selection, and barely any urban hits (which is probably a good business decision considering who buys it I guess).

Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart? Another Take That flop? The Now 2 tracks? Ha...the face of these albums has changed so much over the past few years, they're really trying to do everything to boost the sales of it again, the tracklists all look so random these days.

But anyway, I'm very happy with this tracklist overall despite its randomness. That second disc is the best in years, probably because it has become an MOR disc rather than a UK rap disc, and great for them to get Shallow, the Greatest Showman tracks and Lost Without You. Disc 1 is largely great too, though I'd have put Mabel a lot higher up.

Good idea to put singles from older artists' albums that sold very well.

Also, the Grace and Someone You Loved placements are a bit strange. You'd have thought they should be the other way around.

Has any artist ever kicked off both discs before? Testament to how big Ariana is I guess!

Shame there's no Lizzo on here, think she'd have fit nicely. And LadBaby and Baby Shark missing out too among many others (mostly rap hits), guess they're not doing the novelty additions any more...

I presume Ariana is kicking off disc 2. It would be mad to kick D2 off with a flop from Dua Lipa, but happy to stand corrected on that

Only one urban song, two songs from TGS soundtrack plus James Arthur & Anne-Marie’s version which is a cover. Relax on a numbered NOW for the third time. No Cadet despite his death and the song being a hit, no Post Malone

I agree with most of you guys that the track list from NOW 102 is quite good, despite being quite bizarre at the same time.

Fun fact: Yes, as Hadji pointed out, Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax", one of the bonus tracks, appears on its third (!) numbered NOW album, the first of course being NOW 2 (1984) and then NOW 26 (1993).

Some misses on the inclusion that I can immediately name: Ari's "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored" which I assume they'll save for NOW 103 as it's a no. 1 hit, as well as Lauv & Troye Sivan's "i'm so tired..." and Post Malone & Swae Lee's "Sunflower" from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack.

I've compiled all the tracks into a Spotify playlist for later listening, and noticed that there are many tracks that are below three minutes, especially on the first half that will comprise CD 1. This may just be a wild guess from me, but my prediction is that CD 1 will contain 25 tracks (!), potentially the first for a numbered NOW. Yes, that means it will start and end with an Ari Grande song (sorry gavindeejay!). I added the song times using an online time calculator, and it clocks in just above 79 minutes (79:29 to be exact), a few seconds shy of the CD capacity (approx. 80 minutes).

That also means CD 2 will only have 21 tracks, and that accounts for the longer tracks that go 4 minutes and longer, including "It's Not Living (If It's Not with You)" (4:08), "Look in Her Eyes" (4:11), "The Greatest Show (soundtrack version)" (5:02), "Wouldn't It Be Good" (4:32), and "Hold Me Now" (4:46). It also accounts for the single edit of Jack Savoretti's "Candlelight" that is only 3:36 long compared to its album version (4:31). Its total disc time would be just above 79 minutes as well (79:33).

I know what you are thinking, the 25-21 distribution is quite unconventional. I am thinking of it that way, too. (Think NOW 95's 21-24, everyone! ;) ) But again, this is just a prediction, as the tracks are being slowly revealed on NOWMusic's Twitter account as of this typing, but does not say the CD and track numbers like they did before. If that won't be the case, and "thank u, next" starts off CD 2, then some songs from it will have to be edited out as it's already over capacity. We'll just have to wait and see when they become posted on online retailers (Amazon, iTunes, HMV, etc.).

And that, friends, is my first impression with the NOW 102 track list. Have a good day, everyone! :D

PS. Over this past quarter, I got my hands on a copy of NOW 101 (UK) and NOW 69 (US). They're both good in their own right. ^_^

I stopped after Now 100 and gave myself a deal for this one that I’d keep collecting if Dido appeared in this. And she hasn’t. But really could have. There are some imaginative inclusions but to include 6 Now 2 tracks because there really isn’t anything else-the desperation reeks. These albums have pretty much lost all meaning. I won’t be continuing.

It's random, but good. If they're going for the Radio 2 market with Disc 2's last bit before the 6 NOW 2 tracks they could've added Emma Bunton or someone like that as well.

To be fair, all the Radio 2 tracks they added were from hugely successful #1* albums.

*apart from Bryan Adams at #2
