In the midweeks thread in the chart vault it is claimed that IBTW was number one during a midweek chart release!!

I do not remember this at all.

For its birthday i am going to pump this tomorrow:)

I dont know why but in my head i always thought it was number 1 in the first midweeks but obviously it got muddled up with press coverage that may have said Dannii was in the running to get her first UK number 1.

Yeah, I followed it that week and it was definitely never #1. If anything I remember being surprised it kept its #2 position when the chart was revealed!

Did you have a prediction of how it might perform in its first week? When I was checking for the midweeks it seemed that not many people were predicting it would be Top 5!

I thought it'd be low top 10 before I saw the midweeks!

I know i didnt expect it go as high as i thought after put the needle on it the follow up might scrape into the Top 10.
I think after Put The Needle On It everyone kind of lowered their expectations accordingly, so it ending up as her highest charting single was a nice surprise. It's such a good track to be fair.
On the other hand, it seemed everyone was expecting 'You Won't Forget About Me' to contend for #1. :')

lol, I think everyone had hoped at that point that the Lola's Theme success would rub off on YWFAM, but of course it didn't. Allegedly Dannii was offered LT but I don't know how true that is.

I remember that week everyone was expecting it to be between her and Daniel Bedingfield's comeback for #1, and funnily enough neither even came close.

I tried to buy the single from several different music outlets on the day it was released and in the end found it hidden away in the A-Z singles section in HMV after I asked a member of staff for it, not on the new release wall or anything. I think that kind of gave me an indication it didn't stand a chance. :(

I guess she might have been offered the instrumental, isn't that how 'You Won't Forget About Me' and 'Perfection' came about?

Yep! Both were instrumentals brought to her that she then put lyrics over. It's a shame AATWs budget only seemed to cover one single per year. :kink:

I'm always a bit dubious of those stories though.

^ i also question the validity of this story!

It would have wonderful for Dannii had she done the song and had the same success with it.
I've personally never heard that before, I'm quite confident it's hogwash. It sounds like something someone somewhere in a corner of the internet made up out of thin air.
It is disappointing Dannii never achieved a Number 1 album or single or a platinum certification in either category.

For me who do love now feels it should have so much more sales and be platinum at the time it was a great turn in fortunes for Dannii and i just felt due to a good chart run it had more sales, it was only years later i discovered how low single sales in general were at that time. I begin to wonder will be remembered by some as the song that almost gave Dannii a number 1.

WDYLN did really well , better than expected i think!

Was released in competitive time too.

I think it only had 1 CD too ?

Ya as far as i know it only had 1 cd release, i think everyone was surprised by how well it done, it was the first dannii song i really loved since this is it at that that time, i have grown to like some of the others inbetween over the years but who do you love now is one of dannis finest moments for me.
WDYLK was also a track that started life as an instrumental and was all around the clubs that year, before a vocal was added by the Danster for commercial release.
