April 27, 20187 yr Obama had won the thing by the stage of his presidency. And one of the most ill-advised awards in the Nobel's history, given the amount of drone bombs he dropped in the years following his win. If (and that is a big if) North Korea and South Korea do come to a lasting peace, and that peace came a result of Trump's role (something that the foreign minister of South Korea seems to have suggested prior to today's meeting), then the argument could be made that he is worthy of the prize. However, North Korea do have a history of reneging on international agreements, and even if the peace ended up being lasting, I believe the Nobel committee would not recognise Trump, and instead hand the prize to Mr Moon and Mr Kim.

I knew he'd be the best US President since Ronald Reagan. No he won't. He will be in prison unless President Pence gives him a pardon or he pardons himself. That you can ignore everything he has done for the last 18 months (and his whole life) makes you look as though you havent read a single paper, or dont care about poor people, sexual attacks on women, black people being murdered, lying about everything he promised, spreading hate, blaming Obama for everything he has failed to do and a million things on a daily basis, especially dealing illegally with Russia, lying to the FBI, making shitloads of millions out of the taxpayer, hiring his family and racists and homophobes. Refusing to show his taxes. He is corrupt, clearly. Just a small sample of all he has done. All of it 100% true. You either don't know or don't care.
April 27, 20187 yr Can someone please explain what Trump’s role in this has been? Last I was aware he was calling Kim childish names and saying he would attack with fire and fury. Then, suddenly he’s agreeing to meet with Kim. The whole situation is definitely not what it seems to be though, as much as it currently looks positive.

The prize is meaningless when people who sit and watch (or encourage) attempted ethnic cleansing get it... Just don't count chickens before hatching and it morally shouldnt be brother-killer nuke-exploding nutters and crooks who were only months ago threatening annihilation, and who will no doubt carry on oppressing behind the scenes. I'd say China's President-for-life should get it if his human-rights-record wasnt so sorry as well...

Then, suddenly he’s agreeing to meet with Kim. The whole situation is definitely not what it seems to be though, as much as it currently looks positive. Really just existing and making overtures that Kim shouldn't risk playing around. Which is more than it looks as far as international relations go. But it would be quite an insult to the leaders of Korea if Trump gets a Nobel for this and they don't. If it goes well, it's their countries, their peace process, and whatever Trump may have done, they're more involved than he is.
April 27, 20187 yr The Koreans themselves have given some credit to Trump in this situation, I don't think it's fair to say he has no role in it. Maybe it's just that he's just so unhinged that Kim Jong-un finally felt he needs to stop the bullshitting because he might actually get nuked. But whatever it is, if this does actually turn into some kind of peace for the Koreas, then at the very least this isn't something to be criticising Trump for. There are more than enough legitimate reasons for that.
April 27, 20187 yr Back to the Nobel Prize, I've been doing a bit of digging, and I've now come to the conclusion that it is highly unlikely that anyone between Trump, Kim or Moon is likely to win the 2018 Nobel Peace Price. The nominations for each year's prize closes in February, and given that it is now April, unless one nominator hedged their bets by putting them up for nomination back then in the hopes that something would come up later in the year, then this happened too late for consideration.
April 27, 20187 yr That's probably good. If there is to be lasting peace and lowering of tension in Korea it'll take longer than an afternoon of smiles and handshakes - the picture will be clearer the year after.
April 29, 20187 yr Green Day fans launch campaign to make 'American Idiot' top of the charts for Donald Trump's July visit to the UK https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/green-da...o-a3826246.html Organisers posted: "We have a date, he's coming Friday 13th July...so if we ALL buy enough downloads of Green Day's 'American Idiot' between Friday 6th-Thursday 12th it will time PERFECTLY to hit No.1 the very day he arrives on UK soil! "Streaming counts too but less effective. Let's do this!"  ***** They've got that back to front - streaming would be far more effective nowadays...
April 29, 20187 yr No. If people buy it, that is one sale. Assuming the song is on ACR, that is a lot more than one person can contribute by streaming. In fact, they ought to be encouraging streams the week before to get it back to SCR.
May 1, 20187 yr Massive protests planned in Scotland. What were they thinking sending him there
May 6, 20187 yr Theresa May under pressure in the Guardian to state categorically she isn't including the flogging off of the NHS to American companies in talks with State-health-aid-hating and killing-poor-insurances-and-the-uninsured-poor Trump come the visit. Â She has so far noticeably failed to give any assurances, so I think we can read as much into her "safe under Tory hands" promises as much as all of her others promises, none of which she has yet to follow through - other than Hard Brexit (probably), based on the DUP statements on the now-wishy-washy Marr show.
