But for how many of those will the EU be the primary motivation for their vote?

If the economy and their well-being goes down the toilet afterwards I suspect everyone will have an anti-Tory bias for delivering something that everyone claimed would never happen. Hard Brexit. Or those that did say it would be a final threat said it wouldnt hurt the economy at all:

here's a few of those people:

"Bob Hudson Retweeted Mirror Politics

So in summary: Lawson wants to be a French citizen, Farage wants a German passport, Redwood advises people not to invest in Britain and Rees Mogg makes his money in Russia. 😳"

If even the people who demanded I lose my right to be an EU citizen have no faith in the future of the UK...?

Oh, yes, there's also The Sunday Times publishing a civil servant study suggesting that within 2 weeks of an abrupt Hard Brexit there would be petrol, medicine and other shortages, and Dover would grind to a halt within a day. Protests from renowned moron Davy davy suggests the government has plans and studies that this won't happen. based on his previous non-existent reports and in-depth studies (most of which when they did come out suggested it wouldnt be good news), suggest that it's more likely to be accurate than not. Of course, Davy could publish his evidence and careful analysis that we will be laughing all the way to the bank after Brexit so we can all be convinced.......

In their latest demonstration of their contempt for parliamentary democracy the government has announced when the EU (Withdrawal) Bill will be returning to the Commons. The fifteen Lords amendments will be allotted just one day of parliamentary time. Bearing in mind that each division takes at least ten minutes, the twelve hours is immediately reduced to ell below ten hours. Still, it's not as if this is anything important.

How much would you consider adequate time, then?

What else would you have delayed/shelved to clear sufficient time?

Three days would be the absolute minimum. This is the most important legislation to go through the Commons for many years. What is the point of having MPs if they can't have a proper debate on such an important issue?

As for your second question, the answer is very simple. Whatever is necessary.

But what about the fact that these 15 items have *already* been through the HoC once - they would have been discussed then, so surely they'd need less discussion this time?

They haven't. They are amendments passed by the Lords.

They haven't. They are amendments passed by the Lords.

Which, I'll add, is entirely the function of the House Of Lords - to go into detail and make the Commons think again about politically-hasty legislation pointing out the major flaws that will cause long-term problems because MPs are so obsessed with getting it through at any cost.

It's called "Doing your job".

Re comment about other legislation getting held up. They retracted all of their election campaign promises. What legislation would THAT be?!! A ban on nose-picking in public?

They haven't. They are amendments passed by the Lords.

OK.

But wouldn't they have been debated *there*, too?

meanwhile another "Project Fear Lie" comes true.

EU Agricultural workers now dont want to work in the UK, so crops rot.

Just to explain that as each lie told by Brexiteers about all the facts that were given by Remain in the campaign I will keep posting them to hammer home that not a SINGLE thing claimed by Johnson, Gove, Farage & all the other self-serving liars can be believed. It was all lies.

We are still a member of the EU, so we should in theory not be having any problems at all....

We are.

OK.

But wouldn't they have been debated *there*, too?

Of course they were, but don’t you think our elected representatives should be able to debate them as well?

The government has come up with yet another idea on how to handle customs. They wanted to call it the Customs Regulatory Alignment Programme until it dawned on them that it might not be a terribly good idea.

Then they'll just have to pay local pickers enough to get their crops picked.

Then they'll go out of business or else they would pay good wages. Supply and demand. We can import fruit n veg from EU countries cheaper because they CAN get people to work for them (read the article), so effectively you are saying let's kill of the British fruit n veg business because people just WON'T pay twice as much to buy local produce when household budgets come into it. Witness the closure of marks n spencers across the country and the opening of the likes of el cheapo types like foreign-owned Lidl and others. A race to the bottom is going on...

Here I was thinking that you were in favour of Britain taking back control, not giving it away. Welcome to the Real World. As in less businesses, less tax income, less jobs, more to pay out in benefit support. Hoorah! Oh the future is SO bright I gotta wear shades...

More rumours tonight that Davey Davy is on the brink of resigning. That might explain why he disappeared for a few weeks. After all, his first effort at a resignation letter - Dear Priem Numba, I rizine. - clearly needed a bit more work.

Exactly.

I Am.

David David potential resignation in a strop because he doesnt get his own way? But that is SO not like him...

loved this tweet:

David Davis will resign only if he can also keep all the benefits of staying in the cabinet.

David Davis awaits the cabinet's offer of terms for his resignation, which he expects to be reasonable.

David Davis means David Davis.
