I was talking about this with my friend earlier...

Of course a game is made up of many things, such as the graphics, a good story perhaps, gameplay that's fun.... But what for you is most important, what draws you to a game? Many people love a story driven game like The Last Of Us, some love fun gameplay like a casual Mario Kart game that draws you in, others love graphics and an explosive next-gen experience.

For me it's gameplay, it can look as pretty as it wants and have an amazing story but I need gameplay that i enjoy and find fun to draw me in, no amount of detailed worlds or rich story can make up for it being just a boring game I can't get into. The best example that demonstrates this is The LAst Of Us, which I find horrendously boring in gameplay and just couldn't get into despite the story.

Of course I wouldn't want something with NO story and awful graphics, I know every game takes all 3 to be good mostly, or it depends on game :P

Length most definitely. I hate when a game can be completed in a day, like seriously what is the point in having a game that can be completed so quickly? I have returned games before as they were too quick to play, well when I was a teen I got my parents to do it for me

The most recent game was Super Mario Bros 2 on 3DS, I just couldn't believe it was over after a day, I still have it though.

I guess this would come under the 'gameplay' category

Short games suck and I hate them!

I could go for a short game or two! I have tons of games lying around my Steam library, they need to get played at some point and I don't have the time or inclination to suffer through slow-paced games that torturously draw out their story far longer than necessary.

I suppose I've, especially lately, not been a fan of using games as a storytelling medium, I compartmentalise them fairly differently from watching something passively, I mean, I love a good story, but I load up games to challenge myself and enjoy the gameplay, not sit through poor dialogue (especially if you can't skip it and ESPECIALLY if they allow subtitles for reading but don't allow you to skip lines, I can read lines ten times faster than your shoddy voice actors can recite them, just give me the lowdown that way). There's a couple of exceptions, mostly thrillers that get you straight to the action. Hacknet for example is a very short and very thrilling game with no graphics to speak of and not much gameplay but it's a fun ride through the story.

And though I love a good set of beautiful looking graphics, I'm a strategy game fan, I'm very used to basic graphics and as long as they're at an acceptable level, it really doesn't bother me. I'm a bit over open worlds with lush 3D graphics right now, there's just so many and it's so time-consuming to get that satisfying completion feeling.

Of course I wouldn't want something with NO story and awful graphics

it's weird, I'd actually be fine with that. I do find it harder to play older, more text-based strategy games as I'm used to the clean interfaces of today but I'm totally fine with no story and I CAN get into the older graphic style sometimes.

For me it's almost a tie between story and gameplay. I voted for gameplay, but I love engrossing myself in an RPG with a great story to follow, even if the graphics and gameplay aren't that great.

Most important : the setting (I love western fantasy worlds and middle-ages history)

Second place is a gameplay. Open-worlds with 50+ hours of gameplay is my weakness.

Graphics is not very important for me, the graphics from the previous generation (PS3, Xbox 360) is enough for me, but obviously I will not play in the modern indie pixel games, which sometimes looks worse than old classic games from NES / SNES era.

Least important : the story (Sometimes even "we are good, they are evil" cliché is enough for me)
