Juice WRLD is the latest US trap rapper to blow up, with 'Lucid Dreams', now #3 on US Spotify behind Drake and Lil Baby (ft Drake) and quickly climbing the UK Spotify chart too (currently #68). It samples Sting of all people and he sounds a lot like Lil Uzi Vert, a recipe for success perhaps, it wouldn't surprise me if this gets big here.

 

 

Quite liking it myself based on two listens so far, particularly the beat/sample. Would welcome it being this year's 'XO TOUR Llif3'.

This already seems big... a lot of people are putting it on Snapchat. It's alright.

The instrumental this reminds me of is 'Bank Account'.

 

Liking this though. Got that Kent Jones/Lil Uzi Vert summer hit vibe.

Really like this now. One of the best songs of its genre, glad it is a UK top 20 hit.

I can't help but bop along to this, however he has a terrible singing voice.

Big fan of this one, the sample works really well (like it did for Craig David's Rise & Fall) and lyrics are decent too

Been quite a hit for him this, quite like the sample for this from Sting's 'Shape of My Heart'.

Pronounced dead after a seizure :( RIP, 'Lucid Dreams' was and is one of the best of it's like in it's genre amongst other hits that are similar to it.

 

Only 21 is so so sad, I feel awful for his family :(.

Oh my that's come completely out of the blue, how awful. I only liked Lucid Dreams from his stuff but the dark tone of the song will be so much more impactful now. RIP to another promising young musician :(

Seizures are a common side effect of codeine addiction I believe so it's almost 100% related to that (or some other drugs) </3

After reading a bit about what he was doing (music, last public appearances, etc.), it's almost like he timed his death. It might just be a coincidence that he passed at 21.

This has a pretty big lead (over all the songs by other artists anyway) at #1 on US Spotify now (and is also at the top on Apple Music), #1 on the Hot 100 remains pretty weak so this could well be on course to re-enter at #1 which would be the first time that's ever happened apparently. Wouldn't rule out 'Bandit' possibly climbing to #1 either as it presumably has more airplay being his current single (although I don't know to what extent airplay of 'Lucid Dreams' will be rebounding).
