the Coca-Cola World Cup song this year, Jason Derulo 'Colors', is at #79. The FIFA song Nicky Jam 'Live It Up' is at #198. The rest are just old songs I think like 'Three Lions' (#23 and #70). Also got 'Vindaloo' (#54), 'World In Motion' (#58).

Oh missed 3 Lions there, thx

Streaming is probably almost zero

It most certainty is probably.

21. Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds- Three Lions

53. Fat Les- Vindaloo

55. New Order- World In Motion

58. Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds- Three Lions '98

79. Jason Derulo- Colors

115. The Football Classics Band- Vindaloo

154. Ant & Dec- We're On The Ball

164. The Football Classics Band- World In Motion

166. Shakira ft Freshlyground - Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)

181. The Football Classics Band- Three Lions

198. Nicky Jam- Live It Up

I haven't really taken notice of anything in the charts since about last October but I had a look at kworb today and is pop music actually making a return?

George Ezra, Years & Years, Keala Settle, Anne-Marie etc it seems to me maybe pop is coming back.

I thought George Ezra would be a one album wonder but he has suddenly become popular again and Years & Years seem to be getting popular again, are the charts from 4 or 5 years ago suddenly returning or is this just a phase?

Pop music never went away.

Pop has been struggling on Spotify due to the urban dominance but not on itunes
How recently are we talking though? Last year we had the likes of Shape Of You, New Rules & Havana smashing it on streaming. It's dance & indie that have been most affected, not pop.
:ne: The Carters - Apes**t 128

Hoping this can be a top 10 for them.

How would they announce it on the chart show? Ape?

Equally though a lot of the urban stuff lacks on iTunes, whereas Pop generally does better there. Obviously there’s exceptions when there should big names involved but even looking at Better Now, it’s been high on Spotify for weeks but is only just catching up (slowly) in real sales.

I-Tunes is barely relevant these days though. I'd say being better off on Spotify is far more important

Pop has no problem on Spotify :D

Which songs of these are not pop?

1 One Kiss (with Dua Lipa) by Calvin Harris 384,134

2 Better Now by Post Malone 337,105

3 Nice For What by Drake 326,288

4 2002 by Anne-Marie 325,101

5 Solo (feat. Demi Lovato) by Clean Bandit 319,538

6 no tears left to cry by Ariana Grande 293,552

7 Shotgun by George Ezra 284,027

8 I'll Be There by Jess Glynne 265,032

9 I Like It by Cardi B 256,225

10 Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer 242,811

11 German by EO 226,154

12 Back To You by Selena Gomez 220,461

13 Answerphone (feat. Yxng Bane) by Banx & Ranx 215,525

14 Flames by David Guetta 208,390

16 Lucid Dreams by Juice WRLD 190,103

17 Paradise by George Ezra 187,022

18 Love Lies (with Normani) by Khalid 186,431

19 Girls Like You (feat. Cardi B) by Maroon 5 184,330

20 These Days (feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen) by Rudimental

I'd say ALL of them are pop (even Lucid Dreams samples Sting of all acts). Only ones I think are strictly NOT pop are Nice for What and German so that's 2/20

Lol if you think post malone is pop

Same for lucid dreams

rap/urban artists use samples all the time, that doesnt make them pop lol

I wouldn't say all of Post Malone's stuff is pop but Better Now certainly leans quite closely towards it.

I'd agree on Lucid Dreams though, that's not really a pop song even with the sample.

Yeah there's a couple more songs from that list I would definitely exclude from being pop, but the point still stands - most of that Top 20 is pop.

I'd say six of them are strictly not Pop, all of which happen to be Urban. Dance is really struggling and only does well when it's popified enough (see Calvin, Clean Bandit) and then Indie is basically non existent.

Ugh. Can The Carters kindly not.

The only thing 'Apeshit' has going for it is Beyoncé's flow. But as a song, it's generic, streaming friendly Urban rubbish. Ughhhh.

Can "rappers" PLEASE stop making stupid noises over the song. I don't fancy hearing someone trying to imitate a phone ringing every 10 seconds on a song. :drama:

Cardi B is of course rapper but I Like It is more like Havana as a song so I count it as a pop song. On Lucid Dreams Juice WRLD actually SINGS so that's more r&b than rap.

Anyway, pop/not pop is not so black and white these days where genres blend together
