clearly indie will benefit the least :/ and it was already the genre benefitting the least from audio streaming

I don't know, I think fanbase views could boost the bigger acts such as Paramore or Bring Me The Horizon.

Dance will do even more poorly now. Urban and Latin will be the main beneficiaries. And k pop will pop in more often.

You think so? Maybe so. Can see the likes of Camelphat struggling in video streaming sadly, but there will hopefully perhaps be more European dance hits crossing over to the UK after they have racked up the views in Europe and made the front page on youtube as a result. The likes of Katchi and Tuesday probably could have had more chance of making the UK chart if video streaming was included back then. Not that there are many big European dance hits any more sadly :(

Almost definitely. The big dance hits do better on Spotify than YouTube, especially ones by non-established artists.
Really worried about this next era for Disclosure that's coming. So much has changed since Caracal and I think it will flop if they don't have good features or a good music video for at least one of their songs.

I'm not sure if Disclosure actually really care about chart success anymore. They'd probably rather stick to their sound that they and their fans love, rather than go all

'Spotify' and trend chasing. That's what I hope for anyway. Still half expecting them to do another Sam Smith collab for a hit tho, but based on 'Ultimatum' their album shouldn't be a departure from their style.

Well then I am not looking forward to video streams being introduced to the chart as much now :(

Dennis Lloyd's Nevermind is nowhere to be seen on the video streaming chart so even my hope for European dance hits being boosted may be wrong.

As for Disclosure they are a relatively big name and do have a decently sized fanbase on Youtube, but yes they probably will have to resort to a big name feature like Sam Smith to get another chart hit.

This weeks video streaming chart:

Ew at Maroon 5's rather dull song being number 1. :( GRM Daily impact for Mist straight into the top 10. Generally as danG said it is is very urban and pop dominated and very little dance (or indie for that matter) in it to be seen even at the lower ends of the top 100 :( At least its mostly UK urban doing well though! :)

Just 1 indie (tom walker) thanks to an ad

Not even florence :/

While it probably hasn't happened, I did think last night that the OCC must have added video streaing data to the current chart as 46 out of the top 75 singles have recorded a sales increase, something I've not seen since last Christmas. As it probably hasn't happened, I wonder what caused sales to increase so much this week? The fact that 18 out of the top 20 singles recorded a sales increase looks suspicious...
How will next weeks charts sales look then? Will there be an increase weekly for the no1?

It'll be interesting to find out. As I posted over at Haven yesterday morning:

Will moving premium audio streams from 150:1 to 100:1 compensate for moving ad-funded audio streams from 150:1 to 600:1? And if not will adding in video streams make up the shortfall? With downloads increasingly being marginalised, weekly chart sales of the biggest tracks have recently been on the low side. Will these chart rule changes further depress chart sales or will it give them a boost?

Though I'd still love to know why most of the top 75 are recording a sales increase this week. It's quite bizarre.

was checking this link https://kworb.net/youtube/insights/uk_daily.html

and seems that the daily views of the most viewed track on YT are similar to the spotify numbers, I see M5 are doing 450K per day at #1, with #2 and #3 doing 350K a day, so we are expecting a similar impact to spotify then??

No, because all of those streams will be free and counted at the 600:1 ratio, while Spotify will have a chunk of its contributions at 100:1.

But then the Youtube Music premium will be 1:100. Reading about Youtube Music, it seems to be quite playlist based like Spotify, so it will largely depend what is on the top playlists there as to what does well...

Is there any way of seeing the Youtube Music premium chart?

In my opinion the charts died in 2014 when streaming were introduced, it's just a shambles now and makes no sense, I don't know anyone who actually cares about the charts anymore

This. They are made up nowadays.

But oh well, at least my music consumption will finally be counted towards the charts again!

Some people do care! YouTube video streams should have been included from when audio streaming services were first included as they are analogous. It creates an equal playing field. Whether it creates a better chart we shall find out on Friday...
