Posted July 3, 20187 yr We're only a matter of days away from the Tour starting! As usual all the action and highlights will be shown on ITV4. Chris Froome has just been given the green light to compete after race organisers tried to ban him due to this doping case. Great for him, but it's no doubt going to cause some controversy over the course of the Tour. Thoughts?
July 6, 20187 yr From what I read, Froome won't be popular at all during the Tour de France. I hope nothing serious happens.
July 8, 20187 yr From what I read, Froome won't be popular at all during the Tour de France. I hope nothing serious happens. Well he crashed in Stage 1, thankfully fine to race on - but the spectators were cheering... Hopefully Cav can bag a win today!
July 8, 20187 yr Author Froome, Porte, Yates & Quintana all losing time on the first stage - interesting to see if that affects the final results! Also liking the introduction of bonus seconds - it gives a small bonus to unsuccessful breakaways.
July 11, 20187 yr Will this year finally be the one that Geriant Thomas gets his moment in the Grand Tour sun?
July 11, 20187 yr It is Gaviria who wins the battle within the war in the points race on Stage 5. Sagan has to settle for seven points to the Colombian's eight.
July 11, 20187 yr Author Will this year finally be the one that Gareth Thomas gets his moment in the Grand Tour sun? You mean Geraint? :kink: Not been watching today's but looks like it could sift out the sprinters still high up on GC if it doesn't do anything else.
July 11, 20187 yr You mean Geraint? :kink: Not been watching today's but looks like it could sift out the sprinters still high up on GC if it doesn't do anything else. Yes I meant Geraint. Sorry a bit of brain fade there.

July 13, 20187 yr Author Unfortunate for Bardet and Dumoulin to get punctures at such an unfortunate time on Stage 6!
July 16, 20187 yr Author Well that cobbled stage certainly threw everything up in the mix  shame for Porte crashing out once again and Van Garderen losing that much time - not a good day for BMC but at least they've still got Van Avermaet in yellow. Not a great day for Uran either.
July 17, 20187 yr Author That finish for La Course is the best I've ever seen for sure! Didn't think it was possible for Van Vleuten to make up that gap :o Great to see Van Avermaet extend his lead by 2 minutes today also, even if he'll lose it all tomorrow. General Classification - Stage 10: 1. Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) (25-18-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-) 2. Geraint Thomas (SKY) (15-6-3-3-4-2-2-2-2-2-) 3. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) (38-20-16-15-13-8-8-7-5-3-) 4. July 18, 20187 yr Fantastic attack from Geraint Thomas on the final few km of Stage 11 on La Rosiere to fly past and take both the stage win and the Yellow Jersey- reminded me of early in the 2012 Tour that Sir Bradley won when Chris Froome looked the stronger rider and won one of the first mountain stages. Mark Cavendish is sadly out now having been defeated by the mountains and winning no further stages. : (
July 18, 20187 yr Author Great day's racing! Froome doesn't seem as strong as usual though, I can see Dumoulin overtaking him and possibly others as well. Great move from Dumoulin to get it going, he's put lots of time into everyone bar the Sky duo today. Looks like Roglic will be the dark horse this year if we're going to get one.
July 19, 20187 yr Author NINE withdrawals today  Including pretty much all the sprinters, so tomorrow's sprint stage will be very interesting...
July 23, 20186 yr Author Team Sky's Gianni Moscon has been kicked out (again) for punching another rider in the face.
July 23, 20186 yr Team Sky's Gianni Moscon has been kicked out (again) for punching another rider in the face. Indefensible. What a complete idiot - I wish Team Sky would get rid of the racist hothead.
July 26, 20186 yr Author Well the 'experimental' stage has certainly changed the race - Thomas looks almost certain to win now, and I can see Roglic overtaking Froome into 3rd. Will be interesting to see whether this is the end of winning Yellow Jerseys for Froome or whether he's just not fully recovered from the Giro.
