I’m annoyed they announced it on launch night, it’s brought such a sombre tone to it rather than celebratory.

Could they not have announced it before CBB started and gave this series a proper lead in with a load of trip down memory lane type shows like what they did on C4? The treatment Ben Frow/Channel 5 has given this show, one of his biggest hitters, is shameful.

I love C4 era Big Brother but im not sure I want to see it back there as I don't think C4 Need it as such esp if the new The Circle gets good responses.

It's a shame it's finally ending, especially for me as I've only recently started watching it.

Hopefully another channel picks it up.

Hopefully another channel has already picked it up (only going by that article/Endemol's statement) and they're not allowed to announce it until next year or something :P
It wouldn't surprise me if another channel picked it up esp as they renewed the house for three years. If they didnt have a backup why would they bother getting it renewed?

Because it expired on 30th September so they’d have to have knocked it down in two weeks if not!

I think the change this year was more from Endemol’s perspective so hopefully it was to make it look more attractive/sell it to another broadcaster! If they’d axed it with series like Bear’s, I don’t think anyone would be interested. At least they can sell it as a social experiment again.

Yeah BB Australia did the same I believe (although that just got straight up axed not moved to another channel), at least Endemol have an easier time moving to another channel if they have the house still ready to go, it makes the transition a lot easier. It could be a really good opportunity for Netflix to take a chance on tbh or even a channel like W, although that is only on Sky and like Virgin isn't it so wouldn't be my #1 choice :/
I really dont want it on a channel that's only available on sky/virgin because it will lose a lot of viewers. At least with say E4 it is available on Freeview too.
It's got such a fanbase someone would end up uploading it online anyway, I'd rather that than nothing, but for it to still get potentially 2m viewers as a good series, it'd be good even for ITVBe or E4 (as long as they didn't set it back to scripted reality shite but I think Endemol will probably stick to their guns pitching it as a social experiment). I think those two are about our best hope, ITV2 perhaps as well as they could show it in in Q1 to tide over until Love Island in the summer.
I hope this series is sexeh and funneh and everyfin' and everyfin'

According to Big Blagger

-Endemol Shine is understood to have had conversations with broadcasters and digital platforms about the show but has not received a formal offer

-Endemol Shine is thought to have offered to reduce the cost by a significant amount, in recognition of BB’s declining audience, but this was not enough to convince C5 to reorder the show

-A final decision was made on Thursday (13 September). Broadcast understands the decision came down to price, with the two parties unable to find common ground. C5’s BB contract is understood to be worth £40m a year

-Endemol Shine Group is understood to be confident that Big Brother will find a new home in the UK

-ESG are approaching prospective buyers for the reality format, with services such as Netflix, Amazon and YouTube Premium, and ad-funded Facebook, seen as likely candidates

Piss off with bloody Facebook
