August 26, 20195 yr Am I the only one who thought 'Fuck It I Love You' was the much better of these 2? 'The Greatest' is nice and all but it's not standing out much to me, probably the weakest song she's dropped this era for me so I'm not sure what I'm missing! I did seem to be in a minority preferring 'Looking For America' out of the 2 non-album singles she dropped the other week as well (in fact I like that song more than any of the singles from NFR probably oops) so maybe I'm just a contrarian xx
August 27, 20195 yr Can’t wait to hear the rest of this on Friday. I’ve loved everything so far, it’s shaping up to be one of my favourites of hers and a perfect late summer album
August 27, 20195 yr 'the greatest' is like a 'ride' pt 2 This might explain why I'm not feeling it too much then lol xx
August 28, 20195 yr I think this album will probably be the most critically acclaimed record of the year.
August 28, 20195 yr Could this be the album what finally gets Lana a grammy? She’s releasing it just in time isn’t she for next years awards?
August 28, 20195 yr I know Pitchfork are known for being a little too pretentious, and very male-leaning, with the critically acclaimed albums (It's something like 5 albums by female artists to have gotten over 8.5, whereas it's about 100 for male?, but I can't remember the exact stat). So I always feel a little iffy about accepting validation from them in terms of their approval. But they are seen are the holy grail of music critics by many... Anyway, this is being predicted to be Lana's highest scorer with them, and possibly her first to gain a 8.0+, it's her first album to have already received two "Best New Tracks" from them, in the shape of 'Venice Bitch' and 'The Greatest'. (The only two songs of hers ever to have gotten this are 'Love' and 'Video Games'). So I'm verrrry interested to see how they score her, regardless of how meaningless it is in the grand scheme of things, Lust For Life certainly deserved a higher score in my opinion. She has gained with every album with them; Born to Die - 5.5 Ultraviolence - 7.1 Honeymoon - 7.5 Lust for Life - 7.7
August 29, 20195 yr I must admit I'm not as crazy about the album as I thought I would be based on the songs that were already released. For now I would rank the albums as follows: Lust for Life > Ultraviolence > Honeymoon > NFR > Born to Die > Paradise
August 29, 20195 yr I'm had a quick peep of the album, I'm waiting until tomorrow before listening again but I just wanted to say that 'Cinnamon Girl' STUNNING.
August 29, 20195 yr Cinnamon Girl was the preview that I was drawn to the most when the snippets were out so glad it's got a favourable mention
August 30, 20195 yr Ive just listened to the tracks I hadn’t yet heard but tomorrow at some point I’ll listen to it as a whole piece. I can’t pick out much favourites yet as everything felt very equal and as good as one another. I’ll say I think it flows very well as an album. It’s a strong listen. Nice to get another featureless album as well after Lust For Life (as much I love it) had quite a few of them.
August 30, 20195 yr Just based off my friends reaction to it, I hope the title doesn’t put people off listening too it as a whole piece. “The Next Best American Record” could’ve also worked. A very Lana like title. Edited August 30, 20195 yr by Jordan Lee
August 30, 20195 yr What an album 😭 Immediately one of my favourites of the year. California and The Next Best American Record
August 30, 20195 yr Listening this morning and it’s great! I don’t think there’s anything I’m not liking and the whole aesthetic of the album is spot on.
August 30, 20195 yr I'm travelling so cannot listen properly :/ really wanna sit down and listen to there whole thing in sequence in one take... Just checking some of there newies randomly and all sound incredible, The Next Big American record will take some time adjusting to the new lyrics-...
August 30, 20195 yr NME gave it an excellent review https://www.nme.com/reviews/album/lana-del-...XExVwYPSyb4eB3Q
August 30, 20195 yr I’m not surprised. I’m conscious of going way OTT through first day over excitement BUT I’m so tempted to say it’s her best and most cohesive work to date
