They deserve no presents if Kiss Me Once departs before Kylie Christmas :yahoo:

Have we any more voters?

I will move on from this tie break tomorrow and create the round 2 Elimination Poll.

I firmly believe Kiss Me Once is a much weaker album than Kylie Christmas.
I firmly believe Kiss Me Once is a much weaker album than Kylie Christmas.

We know, we're fully aware.

It's just that was a bit of a deranged thing to say.

Is a bit of tongue and cheek now seen as deranged.

Apologies if it offended but i have read much worse comments here.

I'm directing this question at anyone who has expressed major dislike towards Kiss Me Once - I'm curious to know when was the last time you listened to it, be it as a whole or at least a handful of the tracks? Is this dislike of it a long-standing opinion that you formed in 2014 and haven't budged on since, without giving some/all of the tracks a fresh listen more recently? I just wonder whether some of you might feel differently towards the album with the passing of time, if you gave it another chance.

I appreciate that most of us would regard the era as a disappointment in terms of single choices/their lack of success/poor label decisions/Kylie seeming relatively disengaged. I am wondering whether it's associating this negativity with the album that has lead to the feeling from some that it's a bad album, rather than it truly being about the music itself? I really feel like some of the album tracks deserve re-evaluation. :(

As far as I've seen, most of the detractors of this album haven't explained what they find so wrong with particular tracks included. People are just denouncing the album as a whole, repeatedly, which is kind of frustrating. Can we go a bit deeper? Could any of you explain what you apparently find awful about songs like Million Miles, Fine, Feels So Good, If Only, Kiss Me Once (title track)? I just find it curious that the album as a whole receives vehemently negative comments, but few are explaining what they find so abhorrent about it on a track by track basis. I struggle to understand how Kylie fans couldn't find any merit in the tracks I've listed.

Fair enough if some of you actually have given Kiss Me Once another go in more recent times and still didn't have time for hardly any of the songs, but... I just find the continuous dragging of it to be so extra!

I would be one of those who don't like KMO, I listened to it a good few times initially, gave it a break, went back to it in the run up to the release of kylie Christmas snd agsin in the run up to the release of golden. As I'm a huge fan of live performances I looked up some of the live versions throughout snd overall it's never clicked with me so I know I have given it a fair chance. I'd love to be able to say I love it or enjoy the album but I genuinely dont.

I know the question doesn't totally apply to me but I can explain why certain tracks don't do it for me. 'Million Miles' and 'Sexy Love' have catchy elements to them but are just so basic and Kylie seems a bit distant when singing them. They're meant to be fun upbeat songs but I don't hear any enjoyment from Kylie and in turn I can't enjoy them myself. 'I Was Gonna Cancel' is really grating; the lyrics are strange, her vocal is off-putting and the production is noisy mess. I actually liked it on release but I think it is genuinely bad now. 'Sexersize' I actually quite like but it doesn't seem comfortably suited to Kylie. By this point of the album, you feel so deflated so I'm not surprised the actually good tracks can seem inadequate to some. 'Beautiful' doesn't work with the voice manipulations and I don't see the point of Enrique being there as there's absolutely no chemistry and it doesn't seem like they're trying to sing to one another but, as I said before, I do think there is a decent song in there somewhere.

I've found the negative sides to this album to be more striking and apparent when listening to Golden; an album that Kylie is fully involved in and undeniably proud of and is home to tracks that are full of life and emotion and personality.

To be fair, I find her vocal a bit grating in parts of 'Feels So Good' and 'Fine' (like she's wailing), and the limp chorus kind of spoils 'Million Miles'. But I do enjoy these tracks regardless of that!

I was listening to the album today on my commute to work and forgot how much I do enjoy it, for all its faults. I don't think it deserves to be completely dismissed, but to be fair I'll gunning for it once Kylie Christmas and Let's Get To It are gone.

The album has a rushed feel and sound of anything will do and just get this album out of the way.

Kylie herself doesn't seem very connected with the album and by large its missing something throughout.

I don't find any of the material memorable and i never got the Kylie excitement feeling when listening to it.

That said, it survives this round and Kylie Christmas is eliminated.

I will set up round 2 very shortly.

Will leave this thread unlocked so discussion can continue, but here's what the final results are:

Kiss Me Once [ 11 ] ** [44.00%]

Kylie Christmas [ 14 ] ** [56.00%]

Good idea to discuss Kiss Me Once further here and the other albums can be discussed in the Elimination Round 2 thread.
