Gemma makes me howl, I get why people think she's a diva or whatever and maybe dislike her a bit but Jason really did need to be called out. His scoring and comments are ridiculous a lot of the time, and he is just downright nasty to Gemma. Yeah, she's not the best but I'd be beaten down as well with all the shit everyone is saying about her when really she seems to just be having a bit of fun with it, it is just a TV show after all  It just feels like she is still taking flack for what she did on I'm A Celeb, which she's explained since anyway yet still has this reputation of quitting...
The thing with Jason is he doesn't even give out constructive criticism, he's just downright nasty at times and it's sometimes very uncomfortable to watch. He tries so hard to be a pantomime villain (look at Craig from SCD) but it doesn't work out because Jason craves all the headlines being about himself and that's possibly why he's plucking more at Gemma, I mean "You wont be doing any lifts", I don't think there's any need to say that? It's just rude and as previously said his try hard behaviour is uncomfortable to watch.

The public were all hating Jason for being horrible the other week, if it was anyone but Gemma they'd be unanimously praised as a hero  Like I said, I'm under no illusions that she has a personality not everyone will like, but I just cannot fathom how people are supporting Jason jibing at her weight, whinging to the papers about her etc. I mean she's had this shit since before she even started, no wonder it's bringing her down and she cba because she could come out and skate perfectly with a 40/40 routine and the papers would make something up to ruin it and bring her down.

I agree Lee, he is vile a lot of the time. A show does need that villain judge like Craig Revel Horwood or Simon Cowell (at least Simon a few years ago), but it's not just to Gemma. As you say it's never constructive, it's just telling them they were crap ad nauseam.

Of COURSE Piggy Nolan is defending Jason. God I hate her.

I agree with you. I don't hate her but she is a waste of space. And to be honest - Jason was far more insulting and genuinely hurtful to Sharon Davies when she was a contestant (and at least Sharon Davies put the time in and didn't take the piss like Gemma does).

Gemma is loving the criticism anyway - she knows the longer it carries on - the longer she'll get her TV coverage. The best way for the panel to get shut of her is to praise her - when that happens - and she has nothing to be gobby about - the votes will dry up and she'll be out. Sadly though - I can see her being in the last four the way things are going.

And having said that - well it is just an entertainment show after all and she provides some sort of entertainment I guess (if you like that kind of thing). It isn't as if whoever wins is going to represent GB in the next Winter Olympics is it?

It works in favour of the show as well. The producers clearly knew what sort of drama and coverage that signing Gemma Collins would bring based on her appearances on other reality shows. I don't genuinely believe the criticism of her diva personality and the panel will continue to do and say things that will trigger situations like this.

I do think Jason's comments regarding her weight were inappropriate though, I won't defend that.

I agree with you about him making personal comments (especially weight - as I think any activity - be it dancing, ice-skating, gymnastics, anything - should be encouraged for anyone no matter what their size) but Gemma wasn't entirely correct regarding the 'selling a story'. Gardiner was interviewed (along with the other panelists) but I believe The Scum just picked out Gardiner's comments (well what do you expect from The Scum)?

For entertainment's sake - I agree that Gemma is pretty good value and it really doesn't matter that other 'talented' skaters will be knocked out along the way to make sure of her continued presence (after all - as I indicated earlier it isn't as though they are going to represent the country in the sport) its just that I really can't stand Gemma - all that talking of herself in the third person really isn't necessary for really what is a 'c' list (at best) celebrity.

I couldn't help but laugh, but poor Gemma :( You can tell she really went for it this week and tried to make up for what she was doing wrong before, but then she fell and obviously her scores didn't reflect her improvement enough.

This series is SO much better than last year, the standard is so much higher and there's actually a competition that keeps heating up more and more. Melody's performance was insane tonight!! I'm feeling Saara is gonna end up bottom 2 :(

I loved Melody tonight - what an amazing performance. It’s great that there are a few contenders this year. Great show tonight. Poor Gemma though, she had clearly put a lot into it this week.

Christ Jason's in a good mood today  Saara and Wes were both bloody incredible!! I'm loving this series, everyone is really attacking it and trying, and then Gemma x I love her but she just couldn't be arsed today

James getting 36.5 on week 5!!! Can't say I was focusing much on the dancing

Saara was absolutely amazing - even more so when we found out she'd just fell on her head before they went on and was clearly in pain afterwards. She might have had a bloody concussion.

James and Wes were obviously brilliant too and I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying Melody. She's really going for it and she's lovely to watch.

And Gemma. I mean, what is there to say. I initially felt sorry for her when she was saying how that fall had affected her, until we see Jane skating really well after actually fainting a few hours before and Saara doing that after knocking her head immediately before going out. I know there's no accounting for how a fall affects different people, and as much as I want to cut Gemma some slack, she did literally nothing at all. If Matt didn't pull her around, she'd have stayed in one spot for the entire thing.

My thing with Gemma is, no wonder she's beaten down when people tear her down no matter what, like last week she did really try and then she fell and all people focused on was her "making up" the fact she fell or whatever. But I agree, when you see the injuries and setbacks other people had the performances ,they come out and give, there's not really an excuse for coming out and just not bothering at all.

Plus it's only going to be a vicious circle, if she carries on doing nothing then people are going to give her more hate. Especially when she just can't be arsed and then skaters who are trying and improving a lot are being sent home over her. I mean people will hate her anyway, she could do a performance better than Torville and Dean's Bolero and she'd still have hate, but if she just got on with it and gave it a go like last week, I'm sure she'd have an easier time of it.

I think it's only right for Gemma to leave really, the scores speak for themselves  She isn't getting better which kind of gives away the fact she isn't putting enough into the competition. Realistically it should be her time to go but I've said that for like 3 weeks now as entertaining as she is
