A Star Is Born - Musical starring Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga

Venom - Spider-Man's most iconic Antagonist starring Tom Hardy

Johnny English Strikes Again - 3rd film in the hugely popular British Spy Comedy starring Rowan Atkinson

I imagine Venom will do the best, but the other two will be significantly cheaper so they won't need to make as much.

It's gonna be tight af, this has the potential to be such an interesting battle in the UK!! It's all gonna depend if the 3-day or 5-day totals for ASIB and Venom are counted (the charts seem to be all over the place with what to do with weekday openings atm)

 

UK predictions:

Johnny English - £4.8m. The last one opened to +£5m and I can see this one doing pretty similar

A Star Is Born - £6m 5 day. LLL did +£6m in 3 days iirc and the hype for ASIB seems massive so I can see that doing similar numbers with its 5-day

Venom - £7.5m 5 day. This is gonna be big then drop off quick I think

 

US:

Venom - $60m

A Star Is Born - $41m

 

Both could easily go +/-$10m those numbers but I'll stick with those atm!

With Venom's toxic reviews and whatever the f*** is going on between ASIB & Vue, I don't see either of them reaching the numbers I predicted anymore

ASIB for both US & UK

 

US:

ASIB - $54m

Venom - $48m

 

UK:

ASIB - £5.3m

Johnny English - £3.3m

Venom - £4.7m

Venom will smash unfortunately.

A Star Is Born will get around 1.8-2.4 million hur first week, 19 million US.

It's more likely to make those numbers in its midnight showings/opening day than its first week/total

I think Venom will freefall after its first week and ASIB will rise to the top due to word of mouth.

US predictions are in :wub:

 

Venom (4,250 theaters) - $60.0 M

A Star is Born (3,686 theaters) - $42.0 M

I've heard Venom is absolute trash?

There was never really any doubt that Venom would beat Star in the opening weekend, but my god does Star deserve to win in the long run.

 

I'm just back from seeing it and I'm absolutely floored. It's astonishing and deserves to sweep the boards during awards season.

I did. ASIB had much better reviews/hype in general I thought and although Venom was tracking more in pre-bookings, I thought the bad reviews would destroy it, similarly to Suicide Squad/Fantastic Four.

Early UK estimates:

 

Venom +£8m 5 day

Johnny English 2nd (no figures yet)

A Star Is Born +£4m 5 day

 

Fab numbers for both! Venom really overperformed (it beat AM&TW and WW etc off the top of my head) and ASIB without one of the biggest cinema chains showing it is a really strong start.

 

US numbers for Venom/ASIB are the same as UK but replacing the £ with a $ and neither being a 5 day opening 😂

Venom thrashing it!!

A Star Is Born is holding superbly in the US. It and Venom made the same amount of money yesterday. It won't be long before Star is outperforming it.

 

EDIT: In fact, the updated predictions for this weekend are in and A Star Is Born is expected to be number 1.
