I Miss You came after Julia Michaels had a global smash with Issues!
Yeah? And 'Baby' has come after Luis Fonsi had a record breaking smash with Despacito...

:kink:

Id say Ruin my Lifer is an 8/10 and Baby a 10/10 :)
I'm not giving up hope yet, but in my head I thought this would be a guaranteed smash as usual for them and provide the perfect platform for Marina to have a re-launch in a few months. Pretty gutting if this doesn't transpire to be the case. :(

Baby is definitely not looking great, but there’s still a chance with all the album promo in a week’s time, Royal Variety performance and let’s see what the label can do with Spotify playlist support. Haven’t quite given up yet!

don't think the comparison with Zara is fair, one of the songs most supported on Spotify at the moment, #5 on Todays Top Hits(+cover), #5 on Pop Rising, #8 on HH, if something Zara is underperforming, in the sense that she's lower in the charts than on the playlists

I find it surprising Baby is not high on any playlist, just around #30 on HH barely helps. Think this is 1000 times more commercial and catchy (and good) than I Miss You, an example of a song that only did well cos of massive high placing on all playlists. Why they label is not paying this time like they did with I Miss You? I don't get it, they should be pushing it harder and spending their $$$$ on it. Either that or Marina is really vetoed in all radios and even playlists

She SHOULD be performing better on iTunes considering the amount of airplay that she has. She's already top five on airplay and on every major playlist (minus heart) and she's #59 and #84 on iTunes and 'Ruin My Life', if it wasn't for ACR on other songs and current strong Spotify playlists she would be hanging around the bottom of the top 40.
just realised Billie eilish has a new song, it's track #1 on Today's Top Hits, which is a much better playlist than HH
What even is this Billie Eilish and why is she adored by Spotify and being treated like a grade A Popstar with instant #1 on TTH and cover of it.

Is quite strange seeing Clean Bandit underperforming! Have to say I think its the weakest song of theirs this era. Even if it does become an automatic hit anyway wifh good playlist positions and heavy airplay, i can’t see it being an automatic hit.

Clean Bandit aren’t really an act who could generate a hit on name factor alone anyways. I’ve always thought of them as an act that music fans think are more popular than they actually are with the general public.

Clean Bandit don't really have a fanbase though, do they? They have people who support their music due to the quality of it but whenever their singles are released, it doesn't instantly smash on iTunes etc. I'm not sure how the album is going to do but like I predicted earlier I can see it debuting with less than 25,000 sales.

Clean Bandit's first album opened on 20k (#3), I think they'll do similar numbers for this new album.
I wonder if CB label are purposefully holding back promoting on playlists etc for album week?
I wonder if CB label are purposefully holding back promoting on playlists etc for album week?

That would be rather stupid to do though? It's not always up to labels on promoting playlists, look at Zara for example last year, 'So Good' was on NO major playlists before release. It wouldn't make sense to not put it high on playlists before album release as you would need as much attention on the single before album release.

I still think Baby has a chance of peaking higher if it's moved upwards on Hot Hits. You have to remember that even though it's high on airplay that's due mostly to Radio 2 which mostly helps with the album chart rather than singles, and I Miss You and Solo were added to the Radio 1 playlist two weeks earlier than this was.
